I saw them at Ultra, and maybe I just don't "get" it. I like their album and really like their studio stuff, but I HATED HATED HATED their live show. It was awful. Well, let me correct that -- the VOCALS were awful. It wasn't the sound they had an the album -- it was an awful high-pitched screech that may or may not have actually been the lyrics to the songs.
And I'm sorry, but if you think a "punk rock performance" at Ultra (an ELECTRONIC music festival) is the best moment of the festival...you're mistaken. Clearly that writer missed a few things at Ultra...
Couldn't agree more, I was really disappointed by their set. Plus their fans up near the front of the stage were annoying as hell.
I won't see them if they are a friday night act, but if they play thursday night i think i'll check it out. I like her vocals on alice practice, they seriously need to do some real songs with her vocals like that. Since alice practice was really just practice not an actual track, ha, i'm not a huge fan of the vocoders and stuff they use on her voice in most of their tracks

Well you're in luck, they dont use them in the live show...
Seriously, I was super disappointed in their set at Ultra

Oh bummer! I really wouldn't have gone to their show at ultra though, i wanted to go to ultra so bad! I really wish Roo would add some better electronic acts this year, Oakenfold is not what he used to be back in the late 90's, i'll definately go if there isn't anything better, but last year Tiesto was epic!!! i'm probably not going to check out their show unless it is on thursday night with them being the best option

I'll give them another chance at Roo. Maybe I just wasn't in the right frame of mind, since my brain had been melted by the Bloody Beetroots/Boys Noize combination that preceded them.
Kinda off the subject... But I'll tell ya who really disappointed me live. JUSTICE.
yeah, they tend to do that I had loved justice until I saw them and even then I thought it was a fluke I was ok I just caught a bad show but then I saw them again and it was just as bad, I've basically written them off now because they wasted my money twice.

lol i'm not surprised that some people didn't like cc live (although i didn't see the ultra set specifically, so i don't know if it was poor even from the perspective of someone who normally likes them live).
i predict 30% of the crowd at their roo set will wander off being all like 'wtf'... i know i'm probably gonna love their set cause i've seen them before and know what to expect.
I was massively hungover the first time i heard Crystal Castles...i didn't make it past the first few tracks (all the high-pitched noises were tearing at my brain) so i wrote them off. Then i decided to listen to the disc again a month ago. Now i can't stop listening to it. It's infectious.
I cant decide if I like or dislike Crystal Castles live. (going off of youtube videos.) On one hand the lead singer screaming everything unintelligibly seems a bit annoying but it seems like a high energy show so it has the potential to be alot of fun. I'll most likley be seeing them barring some sort of big conflict but im really not sure what to expect.
I'm really digging the record, but like many have said, I'm not in love with what I've seen on YouTube. I'll definitely check it out, but it seems like I'd almost rather see an instrumental CC set, w/out all the screetching

Saw them live last night and they sucked major ass. It was just backing tracks and Alice Glass screaming incoherently while jumping on things on the stage. It was really lame.
I saw The Presets two days prior and was really looking forward to the Crystal Castles show. I was totally let down.

man i have to disagree completely, i was at the show last night and thought it was awesome.
the sound at howards isnt the best, ive seen other shows there before. but i thought the stage show was good, and i had a lot of fun, they brought a lot of energy and am really looking forward to what they bring to the roo.
my only complaint was that it was a pretty short set.

The sound at Howards always sucks. I really didn't care for the stage show. I thought the act before them had a better stage show, and they just had a green light behind them. As far as stage show, all Crystal Castles brought to the party was a white light that Alice was running around with. It was like the kind my mom would have in the front yard. Totally not worth the 20 dollar ticket. At least I know that block of my schedule will be freed up for more deserving performers.

ill agree the lights werent great, they never are at howards, i thought she brought great energy, and in a place like that, thats all im lookin for. i expect that their lights will be better at roo.

haha no i was not, i think i had a yellow volcom shirt on? i was with a group of about 6 guys, facing the stage i was right in front of the right speaker. had one person between me and the rail. i did not see the group of people with disco biscuit shirts.

Crystal Castles cancelled their Dallas show tonight. I think it was problems with the soundsystem, but we waited almost 2 ours in line to find out they cancelled it. I think they would have blown the speakers apart at the granada.
