the Dead just added a couple dates in mid May so hopefully they are thinking, "Hey, if we're playing Roo we might as well squeeze in a few more dates before then."
"There is an ancient celtic axiom that says 'Good people drink good beer.' which is true, then as now. Just look around you in any public bar-room, and you will quickly see: Bad people drink bad beer. Think about it."

a man can dream
what dates did they add?
two shows on 5/14 and 16 but they are both in CA to round out the four last shows there, so more than likely that's the end I would guess.
plus, since Ratdog will be at All Good we know they will done by then for sure. oh well

MODEST MOUSE!!!!
AND by the way...they are NOT ON TOUR THE SUMMER OF 09!! I have seen this posted a bunch of times....and people are quoting their 2008 summer tour dates with R.E.M. ??? I just want to clear this up for any other mouse fans that have a heart attack when they read the bad info...LIKE I DID!!! ;D

still holding out for ABB anyways
dammit... does this mean they won't play Outside Lands in SF?? I was getting my hopes up...
but that is GREAT news they're playing extra days in CA (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for alerting me to this fact)... I may actually be able to see their last couple shows...

I know there are quite a few people who want it to happen, but a Modest Mouse add is really unlikely.
I get smited everytime I say this, but I'm just telling the truth. Their show at Bonnaroo in '05 was really bad. Typically when a band puts on that awful of a show at 'roo, they are not invited back for future years.
I'm not arguing that Modest Mouse sucks or anything; I'm just saying, when you put on a bad concert at a festival, they rarely want you to come back and try again.

I'd be happy without any adds at all, but since there will be adds, they might as well be Sonic Youth, M83 and Yo La Tengo, in that order. Although if that happened, Roo '09 would be so great that the entire rest of my life would pale in comparison, with every day a pointless and futile attempt to somehow make something, anything approach that level of perfection, knowing all the while that nothing ever could.
It would be nice to have the Dead, too, but I can't imagine a possible schedule scenario that leaves an appropriate spot for them. I'm not any good at guessing schedules, though, so hopefully I'm way off on that.
Here's what I'm feeling... And the reason I feel this is because these are the bands that I was actually SURPRISED weren't on the initial lineup. They fit Bonnaroo's type well, and they're all going to be big grabs for the summer festival season. Fatboy Slim is a little bit of a stretch, but I think he'll be the needed electronic add. And he has collabs with the likes of David Byrne who'll already be on the farm, so that could be fun.
Allman Brothers Band Fatboy Slim / The BPA Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band Sonic Youth Keller Williams Fleet Foxes M. Ward Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit J. Tillman Soulwax

i really think the Black Keys are gonna be the mid-sized add that get that late afternoon stage set. Their newest album(while not their best, but still very good) has really increased their popularity. they were last their in 2007, and with the new album i think they will be back. not to mention they are already on coachella so i can see them commin to the roo as well. they dont have any other dates scheduled(dan auerbach is doing his solo shows in march). They are rumored to be playing a show on April 29 in Columbus as well. So its possible we could see some summer dates added.
First Conor wont be there. It was in another thread with a source, i believe. Fatboy Slim aint happenin' not with Oakenfold there already . If he wasnt then thats another story. Also you have to consider there will probably only be one, maybe two well known acts aside from electronica and reggae acts. I think the best bets are: Sonic Youth Black Keys and then maybe M83 Blitzen Trapper in the lower tier.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
I think it's a decent idea to look at who is touring and who was supposed to be at Langerado, and then see which 'roo-friendly bands in that group aren't busy during 'roo and didn't play last year. I'm really thinking the following:
Modest Mouse [come on....] Thievery Corp (live set) Michael Franti & Spearhead Cafe Tacuba Robert Randolph The Faint Mute Math Holy F*ck Lotus Cloud Cult

We're talking about additions. Unless Conor already turned down an offer from 'Roo... how would a source know who is going to be asked?
As for Fatboy Slim... he's really not that big of an electronic act anymore. He wouldn't be too high of a grab. I mean... look where he was listed at electronic friendly Coachella a couple years back. He was second tier.
And if you look at the schedule... it seems like the initial schedule is a little weaker than in years past, so I could see a few higher tier bands being added. And when I say weaker... I know there's some huge names on there... but quantity wise it's a little weaker.

It's very possible that AC/superfly do have an ace up their sleeve. Remember last year when rothbury released their lineup as soon as Bonnaroo did? They could be holding out to wait and drop a big addition list. That's what I would do anyway. I think some very likely additions would be: ABB (sunday Closer) Stevie Wonder (i can wish right?) Sonic Youth Keller solo Flips (newspaper leak? misinfo?) Old Crow MS Shpongle (!!!!!!!!!!!!) Black Keys Thievery Corp Seu Jorge Fleet Foxes Greyboy Allstars Burning Spear Iron & Wine Vusi mahasela
I don't think all of these will be added but most are good possibilties.

Thievery Corp Iron & Wine Fleet Foxes Conor Oberst ( I would love to see this) M83 Los Campesinos! kay kay and his weathered underground ( kind of like Portugal. The Man) Flight of the Conchords (never seeing it happening but I would love to see it if possible)
I do think they are holding out a bit. I love the line up and know a fair amount of people on it. saying that it seems there is a lot of room for them to do alot of mid tier bands i think the announcement(S) could look like this black keys ben kweller ani franti ray lamontagne "raggae" more hip hop death cab conor oberst (hopefully) richard cheese comedy etc...
What about Mike Farris and the Roseland Rhythm Revue? I don't remember seeing whoever they are on the initial lineup....maybe they were our first addition?
It won't likely be Black Keys, it will likely be Dan Auerbach solo (his album just released).
Also I think the likely acts are: Lisa Hannigan Margot & The Nuclear So-and-sos Hotel Lights Jennifer O'Connor Amy Ray solo (or Indigo Girls) Works Progress Administration (Benmont Tench, Glen Phillips, Nickel Creek)
and the big surprise: Jane's Addiction (yep, I think it's a possibility-- Perry showing the love and making a promise for Lolla and Roo to play nice; NIN and Jane's are rumored to be touring right up until Roo together; and it'd be a BIG surprise)
