Treat me like a fool, Treat me mean and cruel, But love me.
Break my faithful heart, Tear it all apart, But love me.
If you ever go, Darling, I'll be oh so lonely I'll be sad and blue, Crying over you, dear only.
I would beg and steal Just to feel your heart Beatin' close to mine
Well, if you ever go, Darling, I'll be oh so lonely I'll be sad and blue, Crying over you, dear only.
I would beg and steal Just to feel your heart Beatin' close to mine
Well, if you ever go, Darling, I'll be oh so lonely Beggin' on my knees, All I ask is please, please love me Oh yeah

Is it just me or are you trying way too hard to generalize, stereotype, and hate on Phish and their fans?
I mean, come on!
First off, Phish does not have a small fanbase. I don't even know where you're basing that claim off of. Second, playing songs differently every night is called improvisation, not F'ing up. That's another strange and ridiculous claim.
This isn't really worth anybody's time. I sometimes wonder why I bother
I am not trying to generalize. I am just stating what I have seen in the last 24 hours on the board.
Why can't some Phish fan just say: Oh that is cool I understand that you don't like Phish, it isn't for everyone.
They did sell out a lot of shows, a lot of people go to multiple shows. Phish make a lot of money, I totally respect that. Don't go too crazy basing their musical appeal based on how fast they sold out though. They can't come close to touching Miley Cyrus in terms of selling out concerts. So I don't know if you want to use that as a criteria for them being some great musical force.
They are awesome when it comes to commerce. Definitely one of the top acts of all time. If you want to judge how good a group is based on how much money they can make, then Phish is awesome based on that criteria.
As far as producing music, I honestly think a few of their songs are ok, and most of it I don't care for. Do I think they are terrible, no. They have never sold very many albums. This doesn't make them a bad musician or a good musician.
Phish are Phish. Their fans really don't seem to understand that. Some people are going to like them. Most people aren't going to care for them. That is how it works. There is no musician that is going to have the majority of people in the world as fans.
I know that most people in the United States don't even know who Radiohead is. I know that most of the country doesn't like their music. I am glad they don't. I honestly wouldn't want to listen to anything that most people like. It would probably sound something like Miley Cyrus.

i'm waaaay too late on this discussion, but I just thought it was funny that Miley Cyrus was mentioned twice in one post on Inforoo, especially in relation to Phish.
OP of this thread is friggin ignorant as all hell.
I could make up some crazy claims about Radiohead (whom I like as well as Phish) too.
to diss Phish on a Roo message board.. well, it kind of goes to show how far the message of Roo has strayed over the years. That festival was essentially created by and for Trey Anastasio...
furthermore, it's okay to not like Phish they are a very acquired taste, but show some friggin respect to the band that helped create this scene, and the guy who helped create Roo.
Without Trey, Roo wouldn't exist, plain and simple.

i am totally unfamiliar with phish... in fact, i could claim total neutrality. and it just boggles the mind of this insomniac pen warrior...
who (fucking) cares? if one band getting two spots is going to stop you from going... shrugs. if you do go, please stop badmouthing the lineup... and the fans of the music you dont care for. its just old.
dont like em? thats fine, i dont really like them either, but please do us all a favor... find something else to talk about...

"The Buddha taught that it is very important to treat others with loving kindness. Compassion is a cornerstone of Buddhist epistemology. It is important to meditate and to analyze one's thinking about the nature of reality, and to practice the Dharma daily, but no one can achieve enlightenment without cultivating a compassion for others that is so strong that one literally cares more for the well-being of others than oneself. That compassion should be extended not only to the people you care for, but to those you are indifferent to, and, especially, to those you consider your enemies.
The Buddha taught that every sentient being has a core of pure loving kindness which is obscured by kleshas, or delusions about the true nature of reality. Enlightenment is not only understanding the true nature of reality, it is also uncovering the basic human loving kindness completely. Treating others with kindness even before you are enlightened will speed you on the path, generate merit and benefit not only you and the people you interact with, but the whole universe. "
hey this is only my second post, but i just want to say that there is nothing wrong with phish or radiohead fans, but i think most of us can agree that hipsters and wooks suck.
Just know that we rage harder than you do. Thats all that really matters.
No one likes Phish, bro. They didn't just sell out their entire tour in a matter of hours or anything like that.
Why should you respect them? I dunno, maybe because the legend of Bonnaroo was built upon the shoulders of Trey Anastasio? Mike Gordon gets more tang than you do, Fishman wears a dress, and Page ate your moms sandwiches as we tag teamed her on his lear jet?
HIIII-LARITY!!! Gordon got the tang from eron's mom, while Fishman wore one of his mom's dresses and Page ate his mom's sandwiches as he watched it all. She Got PHISHED!

^Page and Fishman turned eron's mom into the meat of a Phish sandwich, while Mike nostalgically enjoyed a glass of Tang, all after she payed Trey $20 to urinate in her ear.....
I agree with Nol13, when Jerry died it left a void that was filled by Phish. When they first went on hiatus it left a void mainly filled by festivals. They were also the first to prove the economic viability of having 80,000 people show up to camp at a concert.
