I dig on electronic and dance, but don't know a whole lot about the scene. But a friend of mine is really hoping for pendulum, the prodigy, the method, and moby.

also, the juan maclean are releasing a new album this spring and touring. i normally wouldn't expect them, but they played rothbury last year, so i remain optimistic that they might be added.
Given the amount of electronic/dance acts that (aren't) on the lineup, who could be added?
ooooo so many, but bonnaroo doesnt seem to have much love for the electronic/dance/house music. i'm so jealous of crookers, bloody beetroots and switch at coachella. maybe a little ..... fake blood/the black ghosts, boys noize, simian mobile disco, count and sinden?
although i think this is a futile exercise....
more realistically? LCD soundsystem, does it offend you, yeah?, ratatat....

imo, part of the problem is the arcade disco. i think maybe superfly assumes that it fulfills people's electronic/dance fix, but the problem is that the arcade disco is too small for artists like boys noize, simian mobile disco, deadmau5, etc.
of course, i could be completely offbase, and they'll make an announcement full of great dance acts. i dunno. more likely, we'll get a couple more good dance acts, but still fall far short of coachella in this genre.

Ya I agree. I think its also that mid-range electronic DJs wouldnt draw a huge number of people to bonnaroo ... big names like tiesto do, as do groups who have had a particularly big year (crystal castles), but its just not that kind of festival. too bad, because i think that they started something good with MSTRKRFT last year ... i was hoping it would continue. oh well, good thing i live in toronto where i get all the dirty dance beats i can handle....

edit: ^^^ i agree that an act like boys noize would probably get a smaller crowd at roo than coachella at first, but i saw enough people getting down to MSTRKRFT that i think bonnaroo's late nights could handle more. i think people would appreciate it over time, kinda how like indie rock acts have become just as much a staple of bonnaroo as they have at coachella.
the bug would be great; i've been really into him lately.
I'm really kinda expecting The Bug to get added because that covers electronic and the reggae fans some, kills two birds with one stone.
You should also check out Amon Tobin's new side project, Two Fingers. Interesting mix that I think could make for a great late night show: www.two-fingers.net/

Oh dont get me wrong, I think that these kinds of electronic acts are effing perfect for bonnaroo late night, i just wonder if they have sort of let coachella have it in that department. they dont want to be seen as trying to be more like coachella ... carve out their own identity so to speak.

imo, the late nights are exactly where bonnaroo has a leg up on coachella (and the other huge city festivals), and where roo could carve out a niche in the area of dance music.
most of the dance acts at coachella play during the day, and even the "headliner dance act" ends at midnight, much earlier than they're used to. at bonnaroo, these acts could get their 2 am rave on.
it just seems like an awesome scenario, and i think it would work, if superfly would just do it!
I think the timing of the festival makes it difficult because of how much more most major electronic acts can make in Europe vs. playing at Bonnaroo. Coachella has the advantage of taking place during the season that electronic acts are playing festivals in America.
