Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I listen to a lot of the jam bands...not so much of the indie/hip hop stuff...but i'm working on finding more bands now...listened to some of femi kuti...its pretty good
I am pretty unfamiliar with the last part of the lineup. Any one want to suggest some to start with from the bottom half. It starts getting a bit hazy for me around Femi Kuti who I have never heard of. Guess I'll start there since you just mentioned it.
Check out AA Bondy. He is like at the very bottom. I saw him on some late night show a while back. A really brilliant musician. American Hearts is a good song.
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey

Delta Spirit Todd Snider Okkervil River Elvis Perkins in Dearland Grizzly Bear
All of these are going to be very high on my must see list and are from the lower half of the line up. If you want any material from any of them just ask

Good bands below Femi Kuti off the top of my head, Grace Potter, Kaki King, Grizzly Bear, Okkervil River, Crystal Castles, Brett Dennen, Toubab Krewe, Alejandro Escovedo, Vieux Farka Toura (sounds like his father), Elvis Perkins in Dearland, Yeasayer, Portugal. The Man, The Knux, Delta Spirit, and A.A. Bondy. And thats without checking out the rest of the acts. Not saying all these bands are awesome, but i'd probably see any of them if they played by me.
i have the toubab krewe show from roo 06 if anyone wants it let me know. i cant really remember but im pretty sure its a SBD but if not its a really good recording. and it was a spectacular show. let me know if anyone wants it uploaded
oh and i also have grace potter from roo 06 too. another insanely great show. i can do that too if anyone is interested

I would LOVE both of those - Toubab is actually one of the bands I am really excited about - I was not educated well enough in 2006

i'll get my heady family vibes at Waka and then drive a few hours to Bonnaroo and volunteer and get a weekend of debauchery with an even more amazing lineup!
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

yeah... definitely check out brett dennen. Personally, "So Much More," which is his past album, is far superior to his newer album, "Hope for the Hopeless."

I would say you haven't listened to Hope for the Hopeless enough, but yeah... definitely check out Brett Dennen. An extreme amount of soul packed into a very white package.

After Femi Kuti, I'm looking forward to: Ting Tings St. Vincent Okkervil River Ted Leo Brett Dennen Yeasayer Portugal. The Man Delta Spirit And AA Bondy
Oh so close-minded and pretentious. Relevant ?? what the hell would you know about what is relevant?? The only bands you like are jambands with a mix of a little bluegrass . And hey I am not saying that I don't like most of those bands in fact I do but that is not ALL I like. Yellowman ?? please.. could you have picked a worse Regaee act he is pathetic. JGB is dead (the band that tours now is a joke)
i would say that its closed minded and pretentious to yawn at that list of bands and essentially call them boring jambands. and im just listing the acts that play at the ledges to someone who seems to think that hookah is the only band that plays at the ledges because they play there 3 times a year. i love plenty of other stuff. im not gonna go over it all again but i have seen just about everything and i love most of it.
and the JGB that has been touring has put on some great shows. im not sure where you saw them or what you have found funny about them but they are great. and its pretty irrelevant because JGB isnt there this year. melvin is playing with steve kimock in crazy engine.
hey brother I never called them booring jambands in fact I said I liked most of the bands listed. If I misread your intention and was unaware of the scope of your musical broadness excuss me the only thing I've read of your posts was the jam band aspect. I'm all for the no security, free for all show but unfortunately many people can not handle that kind of responsibility and things get out of hand, people get hurt, property gets damaged and then a fest. is no more. Because believe it or not it takes $ to put on a festival and something with the scope of Bonnaroo it takes alot of money. There was this fest that went on on the front range of CO called Tellu-what it was in contrast to Telluride and how expensive it had become and how the beer was overpriced etc etc... Just held on someones farmland outside of Boulder usually 2 days I think it was $10-20 donation camping, bands (biggest names YMSB before they got big back in '98, '99, Leftover Salmon, SCI members mostly local acts of which in fact all those bands were), and Free Beer from one of the local microbrew's just a beer truck with a wooden 8ft table, 2 taps, draw your own and it never closed down. You wanted a beer at 4 -5 am go get one The music wouuld stop around 1am for the neighbors who were few. Party would continue picking and whatnot... Fun times I think I went for 2 or 3 years until it stopped. Smaller local fests are really the only way to get that open free-for-all feeling I think your speaking of... yet those smaller fests can't get the big names becuase the money is not there that is the catch. They can be lots of fun and can certainly have some great bands but not usually names you know unless your local.
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals is a MUST SEE, guys. My love affair with that band started with Roo '06 (thanks for the link, Dude) and I've seen them maybe a dozen times since. They rock so, so hard, really talented musicians.
Delta Spirit are also going to be quite awesome. Can't wait to check out that show.
I LOOOOOVE this lineup. I actually started getting more into jam bands this year since I started dating my hippie girlfriend, so I hope so see a couple more added- dig Lotus a lot, and I rather enjoyed Max Creek at Wormtown, perhaps a cafe set? I'm definitely pumped to see and appreciate Mule after blowing them off since '06. And hi, Phish- Roo's probably as good an into to that band as one could hope for. I could not possibly be any happier to see Bon Iver and Jenny Lewis on this lineup, and I'm becoming quite the Animal Collective fan so it's good to see them on the bill. There's 25 acts, minimum, that I would love to see as of right now, plus there are always additions and a few lucky suprises once you get there (Grace, Dubconscious, Roots, the National). Fingers still crossed for a Dead member to show up, but even if that doesn't happen, I couldn't be any happier about the ridiculous that's gonna go down in a few short months.
yeah... definitely check out brett dennen. Personally, "So Much More," which is his past album, is far superior to his newer album, "Hope for the Hopeless."

I never said I didn't like his new album... I just like "So Much More" so much more. Simple as that.
But you are right, I haven't listened to it enough.

I wonder if Femi Kuti will join Brett Dennen on stage for "Make You Crazy." I really wanted Tegan to join Against Me! for "Borne on the FM Waves," but I don't think that would have fit into their set very well.

Take it from me, don't give yourself carpal tunnel trying to argue with this clown. He's the one who's been saying all winter that Phish would never play Roo because its too much of a sellout fest. That shows you how much he knows about Bonnaroo.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
