I like dude and some of his opinions but i dont know how his karma is that high for a guy who is constantly fighting with people on here lol
heh... i have a couple of dedicated fans... one is sorely missed as he isnt around no 'mo. plus im always right and everyone knows it. its hard work being this right all the time. the exaltation is well deserved!
i dont understand how jam fans get pigeon holed as closed minded. jam has to be the most diverese genre of music out there everythign has been labled as jam now days. the dead, phish, umph, bisco, sts9, dave, karl denson, railroad earth, dispatch. moe., oar, robert randolph, yonder mountain, string cheese, grace potter, mule, toubab krewe, tea leaf green, particle, dumpstaphunk, MMW, keller, etc... sh!t jam includes just about everyt type of music ever made. quite an expansive genre out there if you ask me. and the fact is that most jam fans also love bluegrazz, jazz, some hip hop, and alot of other stuff too. i think overall jam fans are probably the most diverese music listeners on the panet. sure there is a long list of band we dislike but they all sound the same. its really just one band called mainstream crap that we all dislike.
lol i like that one! and although ive said it before ill say it again. if you had come on inforoo in its first couple of years of its existence and talked about metallica, kanye, tool, snoop, bruce springsteen, erykah badhu, the beastie boys, etc... you would have been laughed at, called a troll, told to go to the coachella or lollapalloza board and possibly banned. oh how times have changed!

Thanks for the recommendations Sassbox! I will be sure to check these out.
and it just not the lineups either. its shakedown suckingass, all the dumb rules about pipes and glow sticks, the shady ass security, the mysterious roo illness that almost kills me each year, the dudes play eminem in the lot all night, garnier fructis makeover booths in centeroo. theres all sorts of reasoning.
I'm actually really liking the lineup this year . . . it's this stuff that my gripe is with.
I dunno, we're thinking about going back and giving it a shot.
well i would just ask people to remember that nearly everyone of "us" loved roo with a passion at one time. and i dont think anyone hates the people that go now. we just wish teh lineup hadnt changed and they still didnt even know about roo is all. most of us were excited about giving roo another chance. some of us really thoguht it was going to be a return to the old. but it seems more like a lets use phish to rape these poor bastaads one more time. i think alot of people thought thta it would truly be a return to the old. maybe have more then 5 jambands. maybe have some jamtronica back or some decent hiphop instead of radio rap crap (galactic will be sweet though im sure) or something. nope. i guess they feel phish alone is enought to get us all back...
who gets "raped" by bonnaroo? over the last 6 years, i have paid $200-$300 tickets to roo and get a 4 day lawless party and see easily $1000 worth of concerts if i paid for each one individually.
but to make a full mockery of your foolishness, let's peep that 2002 lineup:
Widespread Panic, Trey Anastasio- 2 shows of Phish it at least equivalent if not better than these 2
Ben Harper- gonna be there
The String Cheese Incident- the noodliest of noodly, sorry but not that big of a loss, imo
Phil Lesh and Friends (w/Bob Weir)-still holding out for a member of the dead, if not the whole dead, which would cancel this out
Bela Fleck & Edgar Meyer- a different bela side project is gonna be there
Galactic- amazing as always, gonna be there
Gov't Mule- ditto
Jack Johnson- brings very little to the table musically, the penultimate "meh" artist for me. hopefully he is done with the roo now that someone has decided he is headline material.
Norah Jones- love her, hope she comes back, but Badu is a songstress worth seeing for sure.
Jurassic 5- snoop and beasties will be some good hip hop shows, and certainly more will be added
Les Claypool- always sucks when les skips the farm. luckily it doesn't happen much
moe.- gonna be there
Ween- looking to additions here to, gene ween band perhaps?
i'll stop, but do you see where i am going here? and i still haven't mentioned nin, springsteen, david byrne, the mars volta, elvis costello, merl haggard, wilco, decembrists, MGMT etc. for this year's roo, not to mention we have had zero additions yet. if they toss in STS9, the allman's, and a dead member, this year's lineup will be inconceivably awesome.
i have nostalgia for the old roos too, but something much bigger, is going on now in manchester than what happened in 2002. this year they happened to get a huge lineup stocked full of quality in addition to the commercial appeal of big names.

You're close-minded in the same way the folks over at Pitchfork are close-minded. That is, yes you like "all types" of music, but only if it fits your narrow view of what real music is. Say for instance, only appreciating hip-op, but only "backpacker" stuff, deriding the rest as being overly commercial. Basically, if a band has ever been seen on TV, mentioned positively in a major news publication, or acquires a fanbase that doesn't consist of mostly people just like you, you dismiss them.
At first, I figured you to be the Bush administration of Inforoo, but now I feel as though you're the Bill O'Reilly, or Sean Hannity. You take any sort of challenge to your argument and more or less dismiss it by simply telling people they're wrong.
im the one that is always told im wrong. i dont recall ever saying anyone was wrong. i just throw my opinion out there... opinions are individual. just because my opinion is different dosent mean i think theirs is wrong. unless they think roo has gone full circle. thats just insane amounts of wrong. i do however tak personal offense to being compared with those asswipes. but coming from you it means about as much as that fart i just slapped out my ass. ill take that anyhow. i see you have inforoos kanye position on lock.

well the people who went to the early roos got raped. i spent thousands of dollars on roo and they used that money to turn it into what it is now. but 95 percent of those people dont have anything to do with roo now except for an occasional laugh. and they pay these craptacular acts like the police and such so much that we have to pay an increasingly insane amount of money for it. so i feel repeatedly raped. and where is this lawless land you mention? no pipes, no glow sticks, shady security trying to shake you down over dipsh!ts ragin tanks, getting my bowl and my glow sticks taken at the gate, cops arresting people, cops in sniper towers now i hear. roo hasnt been lawless since 04 when the vendors had baskets of dank on open display at their boothes. hell a few people even gave away free samples and packed any bowl you bought. if you think roo is lawless you really need to get out and experience some other festies.

because it's cool to make fun of people for their music choices...
if me and dude ever ride in a car together, i'm playing taylor swift.
damn i long for the day i can read this article on jambase only with bonnaroo instead of langerado.
Langerado 2009 Canceled
Langerado 2008 by Vann The 2009 Langerado Music Festival has canceled due to sluggish ticket sales.
Langerado's independent local promoters, faced with a very tough decision in a dismal economy, canceled the 2009 event only after every possible option was exhausted.
As Langerado Co-Promoter Ethan Schwartz explains, "Langerado has always put the fan experience first. Unfortunately, during these difficult economic times, and facing a first year in a new venue, it's become apparent that we cannot execute a production that lives up to the high standards of our past events. Putting Langerado on hold was the toughest decision we have ever had to make. We are very grateful for the support of the greater-Miami community and the music community during this difficult time."
All tickets purchased will be refunded. Please look for ticket refunds to be processed in the next 5-7 business days. Each order will be refunded to the credit card in full, minus the included order processing fees. Shipping fees will also be credited for those orders that did not select the free shipping promotion. Visit www.langerado.com for more information.
At first I was a little ticked at the stuff Dude is saying, but now I realize that this means we won't have to deal with stupid hippies this year. Thank goodness Phish isn't enough to bring the hippies back. I'd actually pay double if they enforced a strict no-hippie policy.
ughhhhhhh!! i hate to run the risk of just being a hater, especially as most seem thrilled. but damn i hope there are some serious additions. for me it completely unexciting aside from phish. i sure hope mule and moe are latenights because daytime mule or moe is pleasant and all but not worth the cash and hassle of roo for sure. and hopefully grace plays thursday night. but overall id say its a complete dissapointment. even with mule and moe. nuts they are gonna be at several festies all summer. i may seriously not go even though it is probably my best/only chance to see phish. quack it ill go see phish when they make themselves accessible in a reasonable way and not just at some sell out, played out, over priced roo show or over priced venues that you can only get into by paying 5 times what the originally over priced ticket cost from a scalper. damnit i was really excited about the possibility of returning to "ROO" but i dont think i can bring myself to do it. they still suck, its still new roo, phish is just the band that can make the most money this year. nothing has changed over there...... and i dont know whos running phish's nuts now days but they are running the risk of turning them into a commercialized joke, much like roo. i thought phish decided to use douches like live nation and superfly to streamline the process and make it easier for everyone. all they have done is make it easier to collect tons of cash. nothing is benefiting the phans at all. it seems like the police tour to me. and roo does whatever they think will make them the most money. last year sucked and this year they are having phish there because it will make money. not some full circle return to greatness like they claim. somehow when that circle journey started i dont remember seeing names like snoop, erykah badhu, the boss, NIN, and beastie boys on there. this isnt full circle, its just more of the same plus phish. hopefully phish make the money this summer and go back to a full tour and their own fests next year. and then maybe youll be able to get a ticket from someone besides a scalper. (although i think i like scalpers more then live nation and superfly) and you wont have to pay out the butt to go to the biggest pain in the ass hassle filled festie in the world to see phish and 3 other bands. i truly believe with this limited ass come back tour they should have sold tickets only in person at the venues. you want tickets get there 3 days early and wait. ya its a pain in the ass but atleast then its first come first serve. no computer problems, no professional scalpers buying them all up in seconds and raping us on them. no being forced to go to a fest like roo to see phish. i certainly feel as though i have been sold out by the manner in which phish is doing business and the quack nuts they are choosing to do it with.
words cannot even begin to express my disappointment!
So, who had 9:33 AM in the "When Will Dude Complain About The Lineup" Pool? I had 10:15, so that takes me out of the running.
Seriously- at this point you've all but made it clear that you won't be happy unless you get nothing but jambands. This isn't even like last year, where the argument could be made that Bonnaroo just went commercial. This lineup is stacked head-to-toe with talent. Even if you don't like Bruce Springsteen, to deny his place in Americana is just foolish, so it's not like the Metallica issue last year. There is nobody on the level of Kanye. This year's lineup has jambands, indie, world music, bluegrass (though not enough!), electronica, hip-hop (again, not enough), some heavier stuff...and in no way can this be seen as commercial.
Why do you still hang around here?
David Grisman will make up for the lack of bluegrass. That man contains the power of 20 bluesgrass bands!
At first I was a little ticked at the stuff Dude is saying, but now I realize that this means we won't have to deal with stupid hippies this year. Thank goodness Phish isn't enough to bring the hippies back. I'd actually pay double if they enforced a strict no-hippie policy.
Lol, then you wouldn't be able to trip out @ your favorite metal band at the Rooskie Bro!
That will not happen Dude. You see, Roo is wildly SUCCESSFUL and a multitude of people ENJOY what it is doing. This brings them back year after year. I know you hate those words in caps and it must frustrate you to no end that Roo will be around for a long while, but it does not change the fact.
You paid money for an experience and you got it. They have the nerve to confiscate items which are either (a) illegal or (b) not sanctioned by the event and clearly denoted on the list of "do not bring" items, but that is somehow an offense against you?
Dude, you are a sour skittle. No ifs, ands or buts.
