So, who had 9:33 AM in the "When Will Dude Complain About The Lineup" Pool? I had 10:15, so that takes me out of the running.
Seriously- at this point you've all but made it clear that you won't be happy unless you get nothing but jambands. This isn't even like last year, where the argument could be made that Bonnaroo just went commercial. This lineup is stacked head-to-toe with talent. Even if you don't like Bruce Springsteen, to deny his place in Americana is just foolish, so it's not like the Metallica issue last year. There is nobody on the level of Kanye. This year's lineup has jambands, indie, world music, bluegrass (though not enough!), electronica, hip-hop (again, not enough), some heavier stuff...and in no way can this be seen as commercial.
Why do you still hang around here?
David Grisman will make up for the lack of bluegrass. That man contains the power of 20 bluesgrass bands!
he sure will... but im 90 percent sure that i will be seeing him at gratefulfest 2 weeks after roo. at a fest with donna jean, dso, and dozens of other people that could sit in and at a place where that will actually happen. so ill get my dawg fix there
and dont get me started on the dead. no ihavent bought a hundered dollar dead ticket and i wont. im as disgusted with them as i am with phish. especially since phil and friends were putting on insane shows and now its gonna get thrown off to go noddle with a bunch of guys that dont play together much and dont have that flow, all in the name of the mighty dollar.
That will not happen Dude. You see, Roo is wildly SUCCESSFUL and a multitude of people ENJOY what it is doing. This brings them back year after year. I know you hate those words in caps and it must frustrate you to no end that Roo will be around for a long while, but it does not change the fact.
coming 15,000 short of selling out last year is a wild success???
coming 15,000 short of selling out last year is a wild success???
FACT: 2 million hippies have less cash than 65,000 non-hippies. Patchoulli sales were way down, but they made up for it with the increased shower sales.
I dunno, maybe if you guys had money someone would make a festival for you again? ??? Get a job, then we'll talk about getting you your fest back.

that would be such a bummer to find out the festival near you got cancelled. although changing the venues WAS a huge mistake and the lineup wasn't the best it is still sad to see a festival like langerado go down.

which is exactly the point why the lineup has changed so much. hippies spend money on fun stuff, they buy their food in the lot. they are their own little community and everyone knows better then to spend money at such overpriced places. that is essentially why the lineup has changed. to bring in people on their vacation and have money to spend playing hippie one weekend a year. thats where the money is made. the festie people only want to buy grilled cheese, party favors, and have enough to get to the next show. superfly dosent cash in on that. its why new roo attendees are widely labled as custies. roo only catered the lineup to them so they would come spend money. but thanks for pointing out exactly whats wrong with new roo

Yep, still made enough money to come back this year. Seems good enough to call successful. There will always be up years and down years in any business.
Also, this site was started on or before March 22 2004. I joined April 14th 2004 and have been a mod for several years now. NOBODY has ever been banned for talking about a particular type of music or artist, EVER. As long as you are respectful you can talk about Britney Spears here if you want, as a matter of fact, you will be defended by the mods. So, that statement of yours is nothing less than completely false.

Hippie-bashing aside, I find it funny that you think Superfly owes you some kind of hand out like that. They're a business, just like any other business, they always were. You expect them to give you an awesome festival without charging more money for it? Ridiculous. They don't owe you anything.
They aren't in the business of giving away entertainment to people that don't spend anything at the show. Bonnaroo didn't rape you, you raped them. They gave you exactly what you wanted, and you didn't give enough in return for them to continue on that path. Now that they've switched streams and are enjoying a happy post-rape life, you're doing everything you can to tarnish their name.
Just out of sheer curiousity Dude can you post what you would have liked the line up to look like?
2 nights of phish, the dead, radiohead or dave, the allman bros, mule, moe, umph, bisco, sts9, dr john, john butler, wookie foot, michael franti, easy star all stars, ben folds, karl denson in any form, j-5 or galactic hip hop thing, grace potter, yonder mountain, oakhurst, particle, dumpstaphunk, lotus, eoto, honkey tonk homeslice, guster, dispatch, hot tuna, anything with sam bush or jerry douglas, L.O.S., rod y gab, TLG, keller, sam roberts, the wood bros, toubab krewe, deep banana blackout, etc.... any 15 - 20 of these would have been fine.. and worth it... and after that they can do whatever they like with the rest of the acts. i would just like them to keep it away from the metallica and kanye side of things just so i dont have to hang around as many people that i may not enjoy being around so much.
Instead of dirt and poison, we have rather chosen to fill our hives with honey and wax; thus furnishing mankind with the two noblest of things, which are sweetness and light.
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey
Bonnaroo didn't rape you, you raped them. They gave you exactly what you wanted, and you didn't give enough in return for them to continue on that path.
funniest post all day!!! great one..... you have taken custie to new heights. you just may be the new roo poster child.
and maybe no one was banned for that but come on if someone came in in 04 talking about kanye and metallica they would not have been around long. maybe not banned but laughed at repeatedly and called a troll and just treated like... well like a custie.
I'm actually really liking the lineup this year . . . it's this stuff that my gripe is with.
I dunno, we're thinking about going back and giving it a shot.
The funny thing is, all this stuff was present the first year, in 2002. They had the Virgin music tent, etc. When the fest was nothing but jambands those folks would never dare complain about that stuff, but now it's just another excuse to throw stones.
There's a big difference in having a music tent at a music festival sponsored by a music company and having a shower tent at a music festival sponsored by a shampoo company. I'm not into jambands, I never have been, and like I said, I like the lineup this year, but because of these things, I still have reservations about shelling out my cash to go.

Now knock it off rapist.
Obviously, I can't speak for Dude, but for me, it's not that I'm owed anything. It's that I hope for a music festival to be about the music first and making money second. I don't mind to pay my money for a good festival, and I don't mind to pay more for a better festival. What I mind is when the focus gets to be all about the money, and the music becomes secondary.
Trey is a Metallica and Tool fan. Does that mean he can't share your space, genius?
its not the biggest offense of a phish member. mikes "art" is way worse. and actually i like tool. just didnt want them at roo. and anyone can share my space. i was at the metallica year 2000 new years show. it was a good show. i still dont want them at roo and i dont want to spend 4 days in the sun with the majority of metallica fans. trey would be welcome though.
