I KNOW you're joking. If David Byrne makes you sleep you must not have any ears. Nor intellect. Nor taste. That's right, I judged.
Ya I was messing around, but to be honest he didn't grab me at first listen. Sure I like some older fellas like the rest of them (ie BB King was great last year!), but it always takes a few listens to really determine if you like a band/musician.
Anyways I was just poking at the fact that the top of the line-up had some older, more mellow acts : )
I suppose it depends on how you define mellow. I don't consider David Byrne to be mellow because his music is so interesting both instrumentally and lyrically. What are you listening to? Maybe we can make some suggestions.
So often bizarre and/or minimalist, his music is "striking", I'd say. Sure, maybe not the most exciting artist, but his music is always out of left field, thus making it kind of ... abstract and intriguing, often offsetting.
Check Talking Heads, of course... and his albums with Eno. If you want the most contrast in his stylings, I'd say go that route.

I just opened up Youtube and put in a few names I'm not familiar with. Some I listened to one song and moved on, while others I'm listening to a few. I'm always open for suggestions. If you get the impression I'm close minded to music that's wrong - don't take it personally.
looks like a fairly legit list to me. i bow to steve and his band knowledge, since i didnt know a bunch of those bands on the end. but i did know my fair share
Roo's lineup is one of the hardest to crack before hand. Yeah...you'll have a few artists here and there that you'll luck out and find out about through direct artist channels...usually some of the smaller artists and maybe one or two of the big artists usually more on the rumor mill than anything...and not be REALLY sure till the actual lineup comes out but there is enought buzz to be pretty confident...
But the actual LINEUP leaking? Not very likely... It's one of the better kept secrets in the biz...anyone that HAS access to it ahead of time...which is usually some one working for AC/Superfly/Big Hassle that would have the WHOLE list.....the artists themselves usually only know that THEY are playing and maybe a few others....but at THIS point they WOULD start distributing to media outlets...but TRUST me....any outlet that would spread that info ahead of the "official" annoucment date would be IMMEDIATELY blackballed from ANY future dealings with Bonnaroo and any of it's partners for any future activities...and NO outlet wants to face THAT kind of sanctions...so I would be VERY surprised to find anyone willing to risk a leak...there have been a few...but VERY few....and the retributions have been quick and severe I am sure. I am sure peeps have lost jobs over them...

As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!

You've got more experience with this than I do, but....last year leaked. And the year before leaked. That's as far back as I know anything about so it's not much, but two years in a row means I wouldn't be too surprised if this year leaked too.
Yes...last year leaked...5 mins before it was posted to bonnaroo.com...and I was the one who found it! LMAO!! THAT was how close it was...up until then...the ENTIRE lineup had NOT been leaked...someone correct me if I am wrong here.....cause NO ONE believed me when I leaked it on meebo 5 mins before it came out...they all called me a liar cause I had Kanye and Willie Nelson and i forget who all else they didn't like..... LMAO!!
Now...EVERYONE was leaking about Metallica and PJ...but everyone was ALSO SWEARING that LZ was gonna be there ...and STILL SWEARING I had it wrong that it was LEZ ZEPPLIN....... LOL!
There seem to be too many repeats for this to be an actual lineup. I'd guess this is a fake done by someone looking at past Roo lineups and combining that with knowledge about who's already rumored and who's confirmed at other fests. But it's a well constructed wishlist. Just hard to believe given the sheer amount of sameness.

I'm pretty sure I saw last year's lineup a day or two before the initial announcement. I don't remember exactly, I just recall seeing Kanye and Metallica and thinking it was the most laughable fake lineup I'd ever seen...haha.
What he said! Beautiful lineup, but no MMJ makes me so sad. I still hope to see Jim and the gang this year. If for no other reason than to see Jim and Badu sing together.
I'd seriously not expect them after last year... maybe next year, but if they came back this year, it'd be like a headliner repeati-... Oh yeah, that's moot.

Hmmm...I remember seeing fake lineups...but not one that turned out to be true...I'd like to see it and see if it really WAS the line up that turned out to be "leaked" cause to my knowledge we never did get a "leaked" lineup till right before the annoucement...and I was keeping a pretty tight eye cause I was hounding my sources pretty tightly.....

2007's lineup went live before it was supposed to. Not so much a computer glitch, it was just human error as far as I know, and our Detective happened to find it.
I'm going through trying to see if there are any conflicts. Ben Harper needs to be in Germany on the 19th, but that certainly doesn't rule anything out.
Oh, yeah, what about Bon Iver? It seems most bands on the friends list is on here, except Bon Iver.
That's the thing. The answer to Clue 9 was either Bon Iver or Manu Chao, and neither made it on the lineup. Also, Deadmau5 was ruled out by DJJD as an answer to clue 3 so it appears whoever made this up hedged their bets by listing most every possible answer to that clue.

It lacks hip hop but so did 2006's initial announcement. Via additions we got Cypress Hill, Blackalicious, Streets (and I cant remember if Common and/or Lyrics Born were additions or not).
If Atmosphere is true, maybe we get a Rhymesayers late night tent.
