Beastie Boys put on one hell of a show. And they'd definitely make for a better rap "headliner" than Kanye West. Outkast would be nice too. However, I agree with the poster who said that this can't be true because DJJD said no clues until this week were to spoil big named acts.

Here's a new guess Hall and Oates. They have a song called MANEATER that has been sampled. (They have tons of stuff that has been sampled). Here's some quotes off their wikipedia page:
In September 2007, Chromeo's reps released a press release stating "Indeed, Chromeo's idols Hall and Oates have asked them to collaborate with them on their upcoming record! Needless to say, the gentlemen are giddy like schoolchildren to be given this opportunity," as reported by Pitchfork Media. This collaboration with the Chromeo duo will be on Hall & Oates forthcoming album, expected for a late 2008/early 2009 release after over a year of speculation.
According to Daryl Hall, "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" helped inspire the song "Billie Jean". "Michael Jackson once said directly to me that he hoped I didn't mind that he copied that GROOVE (from "I Can't Go For That"). That's okay; it's something we all do. Eddie Van Halen told me that he copied the synth part from "Kiss on My List" and used it in "Jump". I don't have a problem with that at all."[8]
Wyclef Jean sings part of "MANEATER" in the song "Dangerous" by the Ying Yang Twins. During the chorus, Jean sings, "Oooh here she comes. Watch out boys, she'll chew you up!"
I looked into both Hall and Oats and Nelly Furtado but couldn't figure out a fig newton connection and moved on because they seem pretty unlikely. Depending on timeslot competition I would check either on out, though!
My freshman year of college, we had this 50 year old ex-trucker in our dorm who tried to convince us Hall & Oates was the single greatest band of all time.

What about the Beastie Boys? They are a rap group. They sample other artists. They were sued by a jazz artist named James Newton for using a sample from one of his songs.
Also the Beastie Boys were originally called The Young Aborigines. The Young Aborigines = Fine Young Cannibals.
Terrific logic, but I just can't go with it. DJJD said none of these clues were for big acts, and the Beasties are definitely big.
hound regrets the term 'big money act' -- probably misleading and too vague to mean anything - last week had at least one major act. 20 minutes ago from web
It looks like we have clues for one major act and I think this could easily be it.

What was a 50 year old doing living in your dorm? Sub-question, did you guys call him "Pops"?

No...his name was Bruce, and after a month of living with him, we enacted a successful two week campaign to drive him out of our dorm.

djjd had a previous tweet with a Hall & Oats reference... "The hound was once in a band called "The Haulin' Oats Boys" - kind of a bluegrass thing, we had a song called Manbeater. (NC)"

Hmm, we seem to be pretty stumped on this clue, don't we? I was just going through so I could get everything up on the website and we really only have one guess that's got a lot of supporters.
I just thought I'd mention the Curious George thing again - it was only discussed here briefly (so briefly that I missed it the first time around) and I'd be quite surprised if it was meaningless. I don't think it's the obvious Curious George connection since I'm sure we're not repeating that from last year, but there's plenty of other things CG could connect to.
Curious...inquisitive...curiosity killed the cat...
George...plenty of people named George...
Monkeys...primates...
The man in the yellow hat...
The authors were Hans Augusto Rey and Margret Rey.....rey is the word for king in Spanish and probably other languages...
Some of that is getting a bit far away from things, but I'm just throwing a lot of stuff out there in the hopes of sparking some thoughts somehow.

On the audio of the clue that Mr. Zimmy posted, the picture that went with it was of Curious George.
I probably never would have made the connection before, but now that it looks like the Beasties will be there, I realized what it was - makes me definitely think they're the answer.
