Also... as for the Femi Kuti guess... there are a lot of cannibals that live in the African region. However, refering to a band as cannibals based on their geographic descent might be in bad taste.

Oh wow, Fine Young Cannibals are reuniting for Roo??? ;D
J/K....couldn't resist! LOLZ! The clue things drive me crazy...I'm just ready for the lineup already! I REALLY hope it's Feb 3 and they aren't toying with us about THAT!
Hmm... what about Girl Talk. I'm really liking this for all aspects of the clue.
First off... we have reboot... referring to a computer.
Second off... Girl Talk takes songs that were once forgotten about and recycles them into new art. So another way to look at reboot.
Third... Greg Gillis is known for being a super smart science major (biomedical engineering). Therefore, the Newton part could be referring to his brightness when it comes to the sciences.
Finally... we have the hint of fine young cannibals. Girl Talk is a musical cannibal. He takes other music and makes it his own. Also... in song 5 on Feed the Animals... Greg samples Fine Young Cannibals.

Hmm, yeah, I think you're right, we need a band. He also said something about there being no fruit in the band's name, so even apart from the FYC thing we need a band.
I'm looking at the three 'p's. 'Fill in the blank' is all in caps, so I think the part that was meant to standout was the three letters he chose not to capitalize.
I think it is a band with the p's in the name, like the Polyphonic Spree.
Can't tell if we've left the "p" thing or not, but PPP has played Coachella and just released a new album. Apparently, ?uestlove is a big fan.

GROOVES as sweet.. im thinkin its talkin about records.. the old stuff.. if you gave up on em its time to reboot em.. so im thinkin a DJ or rap group or a group that uses a turntable.. Incubus? the cat empire?
and the cannibal part could be sayin they rip off other bands (samples?)
or a group that "feeds" of of each other.. like a JAM or a rap group maybe

hmmm--- kinda in the right direction.
What about the Beastie Boys? They are a rap group. They sample other artists. They were sued by a jazz artist named James Newton for using a sample from one of his songs.
