Sorry - I most likely saw "joining" and assumed it meant joining on stage.....haha! Yeah - I am just SO excited I can't sleep!!!!! In one week from last night I will be leaving in my car for the farm!!! I just saw Beasties for Get Out & Vote last November, and it makes me okay with missing them but I am still pretty bummed as this Beasties show will be so damn big and ultimate and with new stuff! I won't miss Byrne though; original plan was to miss the beginning to see a bit of Beasties set, but I don't know if I can miss any of Byrne at all.

here i am again, crapping on david byrne's new tour. be warned...the david byrne of talking heads years and even the david byrne from roo 2004 is no longer alive. he has been replaced by this freak old man dressed in white with a bunch of 20 year old interpretive dancers that now play easy-listening versions of talking heads songs along with crap renditions of all db solo stuff...even ruining the the my life in the bush of ghosts material. i love david byrne and there is no bigger talking heads fan than I, but I would rather watch a fork be inserted into my own eyeballs than see his current show again.
do not expect stop making sense. expect elevator music with a really, really bad dance troop. maybe one day, david byrne will come back to life, but after watching this drivel, i won't hold my breath.

I think I'm a bigger TH fan than you!! Hehe! Just playing, but I really have been a fan since the womb! I don't remember NOT knowing who David Byrne is. I loved when I saw him, and he can do whatever he wants - it's all genius to me!!!

funny that looks a lot like david byrne to me. stop making sense was totally choreographed. so what he has dancers now? it's not talking heads, but it's still david byrne.
"Freak old man"...LOL. He's only 11 years older than I am.
His current tour is fantastic. It's not a Talking Heads' show and it hasn't been billed as one, so you've set yourself up for disappointment if that's what you go in expecting. I've seen the Talking Heads and I still have profound respect and admiration for Byrne's work with Eno.
I'm seeing him Saturday and I'll see him again on the farm!

So is ambient the only one saying bad things or has there been some internet consensus that I have missed? Because I love TH and Byrne but I don't want to miss Beasties if this is going to anywhere close to what ambient described..

Enjoy your bowel movement. But I think I'm gonna show up for DB anyway.
Yeah, I've always considered Byrne's live show to be almost unanimously praised... I had the preconceived notion that his show is among the most consistently great in all of music.

While I agree this video is lame both the dancing and this particular song I would not go as far to say that he has turned everything into easy-listening tunes. I HAVE this exact show (audio) and indeed it is NOT the Talking heads but it certainly is representative of Byrne and in no way easy-listening
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."

Sass, you're going the show in Charlottesville? I was about to buy tickets to that... but I decided to head up to Baltimore and hit up Starscape instead... I guess we'll be passing each other on the interstate?
again, i enjoyed db set at roo in 2004. it is this tour, which btw WAS billed as an evening of brian eno talking heads tunes...db turned each old song into an easy listening version. no grit, no funk. his voice sounded great, i'll give him that. but the music was so tame. and really, the amount of time he spent choreographing those awful dance numbers really should of been spent trying to liven up the music. you'll see. it's not absolutely terrible, obviously the songs are still good songs, but it is just really disappointing to hear something you love be turned...well, boring is the word. boring. and those lame dancers. like 8 of them, all dressed in white. lame.
in other news, i was at the beastie boys show at langerado last year and i really enjoyed it. i'll be at that show instead of db, probably hearing some new songs from their new album that's coming out. i suggest you go as well, but i'll love to hear how db went after roo. let me know. honestly, i HOPE that i'm wrong. db, eno, and the talking heads are a major part of my musical evolution. let me know...
oh and the latest db show i saw, last year i guess, involved about half th songs, one my life in the bush of ghosts song (which he ruined,) and the rest from the new album. my life in the bush of ghosts is a one of a kind album...largely thanks to the amazing samples.... just to let you know, he sang the samples and ruined the song. imagine "help me somebody" without the sample. unbelievable.
peace!
