As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!

k, so been lurkin' on here checking the scene... I've never seen phish or heard their music...then after reading some of terrapin's post (who I can't wait to meet) I figured maybe he's right. I should check out the band. So, I check them out on wikipedia and wow I am impressed. And how did I not hear about them before? anyways... so then I thought I should ask which song I should listen to first to pop my "phish cherry" and then it hit me with butterflies in my stomach...
In this age and time we live most of us are exposed to new music by a friend who ask us to listen along or a dj that announces it after three other songs he played. However, roo gives us that rare opportunity to hear it live for the first time ever. Last year when I went to roo I'd never heard of Jack Johnson or heard his music. It was a really magical experience. From what I've read most all phish concerts are magical so to speak. So, I will keep my virgin ears till june and wait for the magic.

just wondering what rock youve been living under for the last 5 years?
lol jk. you should go to livephish.com and download the hampton sets though. youll be that much more excited to see them if you listen to the shows leading up to when you see them. And youll know what to expect, and also you will realize when you have been hit by something they dont usually do (which is pretty likely considering theyre playing Bonnaroo)
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."

awww..
good to know my elitism didn't scare all the new people away
and I agree with candyflippedaround. you should download the Hampton shows off of livephish.com.. or at least Sunday night's show.
or
maybe you should go out and buy one of their albums (you can buy them online at livephish.com as well). you'll get a taste of their music, but you'll be able to save the live experience for the first time at Roo
I suggest Rift and Billy Breathes as good starter albums
damn I am not even in the running thought I'd be somewhere in there. Oh and hey Terrapin I realise you were kidding (mostly) about the elitist prick thing.

i was just thinking about this earlier today while relistening to the Hampton shows for the umptienth time, do you guys think that Page is gonna be the MVP of the whole summer tour? after listening to those shows over and over i get a weird feeling that Page is really holding down the fort. don't get me wrong we saw phenomenal playing from all of them last weekend. but you can almost hear it in the music that Page is kinda directing the jams and holding up the music when the rest of the band gets lost periodically. just a thought. i'm only wondering because i think that the summer tour will be a lot different from Hampton. i think were going to see more exploratory jams in weirder places that were not used to and i think that Bonnaroo's shows (as i've stated all over this thread before) are going to get some magical magical special phish moments that will be talked about forever as far as phish history goes. what are your thoughts?

i'm hoping that they do some crazy stuff for bonnaroo, i've been having daydreams about being the narrator for a gamehendge set. but honestly, even if they just do their regular 3+ hour 2 set shows it will still be freaking amazing.
Trey and Page played tonight with the Allman Brothers Band. can't wait to hear this!

I've been living under the ipod rock (only listen to what I download)!!
And why should I listen to the Hampton sets??? That seems like it would fall under the friend getting you to listen to new music. Is the music in some type of order that you need to listen to previous sets to get the current one???
Seems like that would spoil that magic for me??? Seems like the magic is not knowing what to expect?!
And to correct myself- I think I have heard of Phish but just discounted them because I never heard them.
Let me ask a favor- Describe the first time you heard phish and what you thought of them and their music.

HOLY SHIT! That is fucking AWESOME! Where can I find this?! I may just cream over that mess of glory.

I was thinking the same thing...and I love how Trey was letting everyone else sing instead of playing Plasma or Secret Smile or whateverthepoop. The new sound guy evened out the mix a bit so it's not so Trey-heavy, too- it's nice. However I think the SBD mixes on livephish are a little flat.
I complain too much, and I don't hate Trey, I just think the last time around it was more like "Trey Anastasio & Phish". I think I'm most impressed with Mike so far though. Dude never ceases to amaze me. Make it funky in 97, held the band together before the breakup, and I really wanna hear Ya Mar at roo.
