i guess trey commented on what they were saying, asking if it was bruce? and said if it isnt you must be asking for this and then went into tube. or at least thats what someone else posted earlier
edit: er maybe they were booing when he mentioned Bruce? i dunno i wasn there haha.
i think he means more like Phish fans not giving a quack that Bruce is gonna be there, yet Trey could be more pumped about that than actually playing the fest.
If you saw Trey's Charlie Rose interview about a year ago he said Bruce is one of the reasons he learned to play guitar in the first place.
I noticed a lot of posters on Inforoo don't plan on going to the Phish shows. Now I am new to Phish but have been listening to a lot lately and I have to wonder, "How can someone NOT like this band?" I don't get it. They are phenomenal no matter how you look at it.

Yeah, I listened again and I don't think they're booing at all.
First, people are yelling Tuuuube, and then Trey says they'll take a request:
"We're all about the requests; I can hear you. I think. This is what it sounds like you guys are saying, so we'll try that one. It could be some kind of auditory hallucination from all the weird...but this is what it sounds like you're requesting. You're either requesting this song or you're getting psyched for the second night of Bonnaroo when Bruce is playing and you're going, Bruuuuuce!"
Then the Bruuuuce calls come from the crowd, and Trey says, "But if not, if not, then this is what you're saying. I'll be there, I know that."
Last night was my first Phish show since Coventry and it was one of my favorite shows ever. Its gonna be a good week. So many songs I've never heard them play before.

I'm a HUGE Phish fan... but I can see people NOT liking then (GASP)... IMHO they're just not for everyone. But, what I don't get is Roo go'ers totally avoiding Phish's sets at the Roo... c'mon people, you've gotta at least check 'em out live... I guarantee you will at least have some fun dancing . And, BTW, this Phish fan WILL be at the Bruce show freaking LOVING it!! On my way to Knoxville tonight!!
oh..we (at least everyone around me) were definitely screaming BRUUUUUUUCE!
trey has said a few times how much of an influence bruce has been on him. he is a south jersey kid for crissakes.
both bruuuuce and phish will make a lot of new fans from the others fan base this weekend.
I wasn't there, but on the recording, there are definitely a lot of Bruuuuce and Tuuuuubes going on. I guess there could be some boos in there too, who knows.
I'm excited to watch the setlist tonight as I think it will start to have some impact on what we see at Roo. I think we can start to figure out what we won't see at Roo based on Asheville and Knoxville. I would say with the exception of a few songs (probably your YEMs, or some of the favorites of the new songs), what we get in Asheville probably won't pop up again until Sunday at the earliest, and then we probably won't get about 90% of what is played in Knoxville.

My wife doesn't care for Phish, she says they're too "jazzy" as in they sound like jazz and my wife hates jazz.
I'm sure if she listened to more of them she would change her mind. Some of their stuff is jazzy but they tend to have songs that touch on a wide range of genres (country, rock, psychedelic, blues, etc.) You get a little of everything at Phish instead of being boxed in to Indie Pop, Metal, Country, etc.

^^That's what I love about them so much. They can be jazz, they can be rock, they can be blues, they can be country, they can be funk... really, they can be whatever they're feeling like being at that given time. To label them just one genre is totally underplaying them, unless it's the newfound genre of "badass" ;D
