If the trend continues, will gas prices be low for summer, or is it supposed to go up? Last year pulling a trailer we spent close to 1000 just in fuel! Having a lower gas cost would be great.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
It won't be. There are rumors that in January some places will see gas prices as low as a dollar. Unless there is a catastrophic cut-back in oil-production (for whatever reason) I would be super surprised to see it higher than $2.50 next summer. I might even be surprised to see it too far over two dollars anyway. Well, everywhere in the 48 but New York should be less than that. lol That state is so damn expensive.

Damn expensive in general no doubt... but not TOO bad here gaswise at the moment... $1.75 across the street from my apt right now
Gas prices are falling dur to the bad economy and the rising US dollar as compared to European currency (partially due to their lack of New Deal instituted restraints on the financial sector. So much for the free market solving all ills and the death of big government.)
All indicators are that the economy will get worse before it gets better so gas prices should stay low.
Of course OPEC will likely cut production (and already has with no real effect) and gas will go up some for summer but all indications are that gas will be below $2/gal for Roo.
1.75 is an awesome price. I paid 1.61 for it on Friday, but that was before it dropped 10 cents over the weekend. Man, I'm about the only layperson in the country that this recession stuff is working out for. I kinda feel bad.
Did anyone else see the 60 minutes news story on this? Saudi Arabia is dependent on America being addicted to foreign Oil. With all the recent talk of alternative fuels and going green, the demand has dropped. American's drove something like 728 billion miles less this year then we did last year.
Prices have been dropping so we become content with paying the price at the pump for gas, so we dont loss our addiction.

I really think I should just invest in a few 55 gallon drums now and save them for whenever prices go back up to $4/gallon. I filled up for $1.58 on Friday, and it was really nice. Just $25 to fill my 15 gallon tank.
As troo and others have said, we will definitely see a rise in the summer, but with the sh*tty economy, prices won't be as bad as in previous years. Now, I'm no John Maynard Keynes, but if the gov't wants to foster growth and development in the financial sector and increase consumer spending to help us get out of the recession, they can't have us spending half our paychecks just to fill up our tanks.
With gas prices low you could always try the "It's Always Sunny In Philly" method and fill up garbage cans with gas now.
I was gonna suggest that haha.
I live in NY and just filled up my tank for 1.95 a gallon. In my macroeconomics class today my professor said that gas could be closer to 1 dollar then 2 by the new year. My reply was that last summer people were telling me gas would be over 5 dollars a gallon (someone even told me 7). The way things have gone lately makes gas prices hard to forecast but I cant see them going up to the 4 dollars it was or whatever last year.
Last year me and 3 other guys pakced us and alot of camping supplies into one my friends VW Golf that runs on Veggie oil, it lasted us like half way from NY to TN and then the rest of the way we bought Diesel, which is more expensive. This year I think im gonna opt to spend more dough (actually less because gas prices are cheaper) for a spacier ride. Im a little over 6 foot and I had to sit with my legs sideways in the front seat because I couldnt fit.
I don't see how you made it from New York to Middle TN 6 feet tall cramped in a Golf packed to the max, but here's to ya. Loyalty, my man. Btw, storing gasoline in garbage cans sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. You probably have a good idea about what you're doing, but examine the consequences before you hurt yourself or someone you love :-D
If you figure out a good safe way to do it, (for idiots like me) let us know! I'd invest a couple hundred.

Gas prices are currently down because of a wordlwide recession. They did rebound alittle bit yesterday, Oil went back up to $45 dollars a barrel for fears OPEC would cut production. The keys on gas prices staying are as follows: A. Strong U.S. dollar. With the dollar rising in value (versus the Euro and such) that keeps gas prices lower. B. Recession worldwide continues. A major fear is that once the recession passes, prices could go back to around $2.75 a gallon and steadily rise. C. OPEC continues normal production. A shrinkage in this would cause the price of gas to literally go up by 50 cents in about a day or two nd finally, D. No major conflicts with Saudi Arabia since they are our number 1 supplier in oil.

Yep gas has gone down, along with our investments. My wife and I have "lost" a little over 150K in all of our investments. Let me tell you, if you have any money, invest in some stocks now..they are at rock bottom.

automotive stocks are where it's at.. GM and Ford are really cheap right now for obvious reasons.. the companies are not going to just disappear, they will outsource (sadly) and rebound nicely..
Yea that is crazy. Is a trailer really worth it? Maybe to some I guess it might be. My car gets around 30mpg and I might still be looking at $100 to get to the farm. I know $100 is a lot better than $1,000 but still gas prices are nuts right now.
In 08 when we drove down gas was almost $5.00 a gallon. Well Arlene and I fully expect to pay that and more.
Yeah, I paid $4.09 the other day in Boston... first time I ever paid over $4/gallon in this country. I'm expecting gas to run $400-$450 for my round trip from Boston to Roo. Still, being able to bring all my camping gear and take some side trips before and after is worth it... haven't had a real vacation in about 2 years. C'est la vie.
