LOL. I like how so many people on my facebook seem to think Kim Jong Il dead North Korea is suddenly going to become a haven for Democracy or something. Now they just have a young, stupid leader with something to prove. Or maybe a power struggle. Either way I think shit is actually going to get worse for the people of NK.
I'd love a Const amendment, but how can you argue there shouldn't be something in place anyway?
That and I don't trust the ALEC owned regions of the country to support it. If even Wisconsin of all places falls to corporatocracy, we got big problems on our hands. And well, the plutocrats are lining up to back Romney just like they saved Scott Walker.

Because I've yet to hear a constitutional suggestion.

not much you can do about this. if there isn't popular support oh well.
Solution to the whole corporate contributions thing: Make it a law that every cent is accounted for and public record. At let us know who has bought the politicians we're stuck with voting for.
Scalia is a clown, and as an Italian-American I can say his views aren't radical or uncommon in that demographic (which is obviously sad). But the WP article has it right, he's a Supreme Court justice using his position of power to try and be a politician. Someone get him a mozz ball or something, he seems ornery.
It won't surprise me when Obamacare gets struck down.
What they say: you can't be forced to buy health insurance What they mean: you can't force private health insurance companies to take on people who cut into their profits
And Romney will get a big boost, even though he supported and introduced the thing in Mass. before Obama took the cause on.
Obama is a conservative, Romney is a fucking clown. I don't like either.
I don't see why being a conservative is a negative, though. Obama is conservative about certain things and liberal when it comes to other subjects, like most people. At least he's not a mindless drone like Romney.
And at least we are guaranteed at least 5 "....wow, that guy is an idiot" moments from Mitt during the debates.

YES YES YES! I am crying with hope. 5/4 splits with Roberts crossing the line both ways, setting an example for the type of court he wants this to be. I'm so tired of partisan splitting in interpreting the constition, both by the libs and the conservatives.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

SCOTUSblog: "The bottom line: the entire ACA is upheld, with the exception that the federal government's power to terminate states' Medicaid funds is narrowly read."
"The Court holds that the mandate violates the Commerce Clause, but that doesn't matter b/c there are five votes for the mandate to be constitutional under the taxing power."
Awatd that little pie chart is horrifying. THURGOOD MARSHALL!? I worked on the renovation of his courthouse in Manhattan which went from 2000-2010. It was built 80 years ago, and people think he's still alive and kicking?

Obama is a conservative, Romney is a quacking clown. I don't like either.
What they say: you can't be forced to buy health insurance - You got this one right What they mean: you can't force private health insurance companies to take on people who cut into their profits - Nope, wrong. Insurance companies can't refuse people, must accept pre-existing conditions and no lifetime max limits so they get screwed.
IMO what's going to happen (or what the SCOTUS seems to be hoping will happen) is that Congress needs to come up with something that will work but not force people to buy it. Considering they can't even come to agreement on keeping the government from shutting down this will never happen.
I love the Republicans. If the healthcare bill had been killed by the SCOTUS, they would have been all "see, America? OBAMA IS EVIL AND WRONG AND BLACK! GET RID OF HIM IN NOVEMBER!" Now that it's been upheld, it's all "THAT F*CKING SOCIALIST HAS HIS CLAWS IN THE JUDGES! ONLY WAY TO GET BACK YOUR RIGHTS IS TO GET RID OF HIM IN NOVEMBER!"
Sprinkle in some "HE WANTS TO LEGALIZE MARIJUANA! IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE YOUR KIDS CAN BUY HEROIN AT THE GROCERY STORE!!!!" and I think Mitt can just cruise right into the Oval Office in a couple months.
This is actually good for insurance companies. More business
1. The law states insurance companies had to spend (about) 85% of revenue on actual health care coverage. Some CEO needs to decide to jack up rates to still take home 12 million a year plus stock options. We will suffer.
2. The fact you can't deny someone with pre_existing conditions now plus can't drop people for being too costly to take care of... that's increased expenses insurance companies don't want.
They want the extra customers for the profit margin, they don't want the sickly ones which cost them. Privatize profit, socialize loss... the corporate agenda and Republican strategy.
We need single payer universal health care, plain and simple. People before profit, care before the paycheck.

My dad blames my liberal college for brainwashing me (which is weird because I don't identify myself as left or right.....I have different feelings on different topics). The sad thing is he wasn't like this before I went to school. He was happy to have me going to school (don't think any men with my last name in his side of the family had finished school before me). But around the time Obama was running he made this weird shift to conservative talk Radio and followed Glenn Beck for all he did and soon enough Fox News was on the TV in the house all day long.
Now he can't start talking about anything without it getting back to "how the country is dying" and that we're going to need shotguns and food shelters and barricade our house......it's truly scary how much the media has controlled and changed him.
