I just realized this thread exits.. I tried to catch up and only got to page 9, so I don't know if anyone has mentioned any of this..
First of all, getting engaged and moving in with my fiancé has been bad for my waistline.. No major weight gain, but there will be if I don't make changes. He only likes food that is bad for you... Comfort food... So that is what I cook. He also makes frequent fast food runs for snacks and it's hard to pass on that order of fries. Ugh. So since I can't seem to eat as healthy as I used to because I have to cook for two and he won't touch anything I used to eat, I went looking for a solution. I found the books Now Eat This and Now Eat This Diet. Both books are packed with low calorie versions of your favorite comfort foods including pizza, burgers, cookies, and fried chicken. Finally a solution!
I also like Zumba whenever I fall off the exercise band wagon. The live classes are too expensive for me, but I have a set of the old DVDs and a version for the Wii. Once I get back into the habit I start back in with my The Firm DvDs.
Lately I've been struggling. I have a hormone imbalance that puts on weight around my belly.. Again, mo major weight gain, but the amount of weight at my belly compared to the rest of me sucks. I feel like ass all the time and the place I'm carrying weight is the most dangerous for your health. Ugh.. And my girl time of the month has sucked.. Bloating, fatigue, pain, acne and mood swings for the week before my period and then pure ridiculously crippling pain during my period. It has made it so hard to do anything when half the month you feel like you've been in hell and the other half you are just trying to recover and feel normal. Oh yeah.. And the migraines and silent migraines are painful and blinding. I'm only 27 so I'm too young for hormone issues like this. Ugh. And the stretch marks... My thighs are the same size as ever, but when I came off birthcontrol 6 months ago I started getting stretch marks on my thighs.. Another symptom of screwed up hormones.. And the negative sex drive! It sucks!
This month I started using progesterone. I can see immediate benefits. I don't feel like I am in a fog, my insomnia is better, fewer headaches, and my sex drive is back. And normally I would start feeling bloated and moody by now, but I don't. I will have to see if it helps regulate and de-pain my period, get rid of acne and stretch marks, or help me ditch the weight around my tummy. Oh yeah.. And my boobs don't hurt like they uses to. So I'm hopeful this will help me feel like me again.
For now I just need encouragement to exercise and say no when my fiancé wants his fast food fix. I've always been reasonably thin, and I don't want that to change because of hormones and lifestyle changes.
