*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
The Flaming Lips at Midnight Sat is perfect. In 2003 Wayne asked for everyone to throw them at the band...again last year at Wakarusa, he was asking for them! He also told a funny story about going to a Frank Zappa show as a kid, and someone hit FZ with a glowstick...Frank had the kid dragged out of the show....Wayne and the band don't seem to mind....so yeah the Flips set is perfect....
between the fact that they will be landing in a UFO, and will have more balloons than you've ever seen at a show, glowsticks fit right in....

fyi-- most bands hate it when the crowd throws glowsticks.....i have seen a few threaten to stop playing if it didn't stop and then keep true to their threat.

This will be my fourth Bonnaroo and I can honestly say that the vast majority of bands dig the "glowstick wars". That is, as long as you keep it in the crowd and off of the stage. I know that STS9 have had bad experiences and request that people keep the glowsticks away from their shows but, even they understand that at Bonnaroo, that just isn't going to happen. It's a music festival. There are going to be glowsticks in the air, plain and simple. Any band who storms off of the stage because people are having a good time at Bonnaroo risk a very high probability of losing a good deal of fans and being endlessly bashed on boards such as this.
Just don't throw ANYTHING AT the band and everything will be cool.

these occasions were not at Bonnaroo. They were at inside venues. The problem is that due to the lights on stage the bands can't see the sticks comming and one or two is bound to get lobbed up there and then they can't dodge it. or even worse if they are busted and all that chemical gets on their clothes or equipment, they get pissed.
there is all this talk of keeping Bonnaroo clean and green....can't you guys see that the glowstick thing is the same as littering?

People don't leave glowsticks laying around like trash. Every year I see tons of cigarette butts, bottles and sh!t covering the ground. I've never seen glowsticks just abandoned. Someone ALWAYS picks them up.

^^^^What he said.
Not to mention, it's not like someone throwing a water bottle and that bottle then lays there all night and gets trampled and becomes litter. When the bracelets start flying, people are going to pick them up and throw them again. Sounds more like recycling than littering to me.
