And no they aren't staged.. That guy's a really famous photographer for Rolling Stone.. He was running around with a lady quietly doing his thing.. They had a guy running sound and video too.

'hippie' is a pretty silly word for people who like to gather, camp, vacation, and listen to music and be themselves-I dont appreciate that label-it's trite and cliche-along with some of the pics-and the title-and prob the article
that vip pic is great though=it really sums up the mood
That's awesome that there are some Inforoosters in these shots.
The last one is incredible, and I also really like the one before it too, with the little kid in the hippie van, wearing a tie-dye shirt. As for the article in the magazine - I read it, and while the authors used very descriptive language that really painted a picture, I wasn't a huge fan of it for a couple reasons. For one, it definitely played up the corn aspect of the festival. Also, it glossed over Saturday (really only mentioning Kanye and Pearl Jam) and completely skipped Sunday. Plus, most everyone they quoted in the article was saying exactly the same thing. I also wish they'd shown a wider age range of the people there, instead of making it seem like we are all a bunch of 19 year olds.

i like the idea of the "new hippie nation". that the counterculture is being acknowledged and being compared to the hippie movement of the 60s. as far as the use of the word hippie....don't have a big problem with it, just wish they could come up with a new term to describe us instead of just comparing us to something else.
lol the hippie nation huh????? LOL well leave it to rolling stone...
i guess maybe if you put all the hippies at roo together it could make a small hippie village. .. well maybe not. more like a big hippie tee pee.
and the hippie nation seems to be completely full of trash thrown everywhere. i always imagined people picking up after themselves in the hippie nation... and i could never imagine phil being kicked off stage so kanye can play an hour later in the hippie nation.... seems more of a 4 day custie convention to me. ;D

exactly..... 450,000 people who didnt pay 250+ a ticket. and it wasnt the 7th woodstock with a professioinal company handling the trash. people could pick up their shit and put it were it goes at roo if they choose to do so.... at woodstock it wasnt an option. although i cant argue that it is an ugly scene. but im willing to bet that hippies picked it all up in the end.
