nope... its more fun playing here.... there are no kanye, metallica, or matisyahu fans on any of the other fest boards.... although i like you bama...... im just drunk and trolling... and incredibly disappointed at what roo has become..... it worse then dead.... its as if i died and came back as some scum on stallions turd in a water treatment pond... id rather be dead but im not... im just some ruined nasty memory of what i used to be... its a fate worse then death
You can trash Kanye all you want, and Pearl Jam, and Metallica, hell I dont like them either. However your non-stop bitching/whining about Bonnaroo is on my last quacking nerve. You didn't go so you don't know how it was. I have enough sense not to go see Kanye, or to use the time during Pearl Jam to nap so I can tear it up late night. At the end of the day though this was my 4th Bonnaroo, and easily the best one yet, I saw more bands than '06 and '07 combined.
Seriously though I have left this alone for awhile now, and I am gonna get smited all to hell for saying it now but here it is. If you have something that you feel is negative about 'roo bring it up constructively, if you wanna sound like a bad opera star singing about how dead it is, just go elsewhere. Don't get on a fan created site and spout this poop.
If I thought you were just another troll I would ignore you, but honestly other than this you actually make decent posts, and seem nice enough. Just chill on the complete negativity thing if you would 'cause honestly I am over it. kthanx

Negative morons* are ruining 'Roo, not any of the artists playing. There's tons of artists at Bonnaroo. Don't like one? Go see something else.

*this includes you and Kanye.
your right i should just go see something else .... who should i have saw during tool, the police, metallica, and pj???? theres 4 headlining shows... which the bulk of my ticket money goes to..and i couldnt give 2 shits about seeing them... and theres nothing else to see.....
atleast phil lesh is still at roo.... he helped inspire and build the whole festie scene and bonnaroo, he loves roo, atleast i can go see him during kanyes poop show.... oh wait a minute... superfly dosent care about phil lesh.... they shut down one of the greatest musicians of our time, who inspired the whole scene, so that a bunch of custies could sit and wait for kanye west..... if i cant talk bad about something like that then i dont know what i can be negative about... its a joke and a disgrace..... and i will continue to speak freely about it if i so choose.... lets get a jump on next years lineup

I will have a good laugh when they announce the lineup for next year and all of your bashing of roo will be for not. I think roo learned from the only mistake they had this year, which was Kanye. Metallica was questionable but they respected the crowd and if you were there you would understand. Roo is not just one genre of music, if you want that then go to the other fests. A majority of the bands on all of the other festivals have already played bonnaroo so why would they want to rehash an old hat when they can bring something new to the table.
I knew the Kanye show was going to blow up in the face of Kanye and roo but you know what roo is taking the high ground in this and not pointing names. I respect what roo has brought in the past and I will respect what they will bring in the future. Yes they took risks this year but when you are the biggest festival in America, you have to take your risks (and some criticism along the way) to make yourself different. That is why you can go to your smaller festivals (which I have been to a few and personally I felt more safe at Bonnaroo the last 2 years than I have at the smaller festivals...some really tweaked out individuals at those shows and I was more afraid of my stuff getting jacked at those festies than I did at roo).
To each there own, but personally I think people are going to be blown away but what roo will bring next year. There are two bands that are going to be back together by that time and I do not think another festival in the Nation could handle them other than the roo (and if Phish is to return, roo will not be there first performance, they will have a few gigs for the fans and then do the roo I suspect).
I respect your opinion Dude but I just wish you were a wee bit more open minded about what roo has brought to the table and without roo the music scene would be quite dull at this time (I enjoy reading your posts because you are very informed and I can see deep down that you want roo to be what it was). If you were to take off Metallica, and Kanye off of the roo list please try to tell me what festival could hold it breath to what roo brought to the table (Rothbury will be close but almost all of the bands on that list have played roo before in the past and will play again). 90% of the festivals going now owe everything to roo for what they have done and it would be a diservice if roo didnt push the boundaries.
(end soap box rant)
I also think the mods should put a filter on the Kanye name like they did for Led Zep this year. I watched the show in hoping that we would have an equivalent of what his Grammy show brought (and if he was to have Daft Punk come out we would be praising him right now). We should let it go and just watch him go down the road Britney Spears and countless others have gone and let the true musicians show how it is done.
EDIT: I should say that I only came to Kanye after watching the following: Phil Lesh, Chromeo, Sigur Ros, Ghostland Observatory, Chali 2Na, and then hoped that the end of Kanye was going on so I could watch the final portion of the show (which I heard was the best part, and if he was to have a special geust it would be during Stronger). So I did what I want and the people that did wait for him I am very sorry that you missed probably one of the best musical nights of roo this year waiting for him. Ghostland was the show of the weekend and I wasnt going to miss them for a primadonna.

Guy I want to come back to this thread and say that I think I was a bit quick to accept Kanye's apology. I spoke with a very well-known member of the Memphis rap community last night and learned, very quickly, that Kanye is notorious for pushing people as far as he can to see what he can get away with. I was told that Bonnaroo was no exception.
I was told that the Phil Lesh incident did occur as a result of Kanye's demand that nobody else at the festival be playing when he took the stage. I have lost all respect for him & I completely support the Bonnaroo community who feel dented by this incident.

well i think an apology from superfly is out of the question... they arent gonna apologize for making money.... and to add insult o injury i bet next year will be red hot chili peppers, nin, rage, and korn. and anyone who spends 300 dollars a ticket deserves what they get.... just like everyone who waited 3 hours for a kanye show got what they deserved at roo..... its a sad day when a phil show is cut short so people can sit around and wait for a kanye show... what a quacking joke.... roo is a joke... "kanye west was lat because pearl jam ran late" is there 1 person on earth that attended roo in 02 thgat thought they would hear those words in 08?????? i serioulsy quacking doubt it... what a quacking disgrace..... im gonna go make myself puke now... remembering that i gave superfly my money to do this just make me that fuckiong ill to my stomach........
you have like, the stupidest posts ever in this thread. you werent there, therefore have no reason to be upset, and yet all you do is cry about superfly making money and booking bands that tens of thousands of people want to see, and its a bad thing because these bands get radio play. what is your point in posting such garbage? kindly, shut the quack up about Bonnaroo if you dont like it/dont give a quack about/dont want to go. you bring more negativity about roo than kanye west
Edit: Cant we all just get along? No, not really, when someone feels the need to continually post shit talk about bonnaroo and its promoters, when that opinion is clearly in the minority. People come here because they love bonnaroo, you come here why? Youre so upset that popular bands get booked it is ridiculous. WOWOWOWOW just kinda hilarious. "Zomg the mainstream is teh devils"
oh are we back to the bonnaroo forum is only for sweet happy thoughts about roo mindest again??? i have just as much right to Ann Coulter about kanye and phil and everything else as you do to gush about how great roo is..... i have not said your a loser or for you to shut the quack up because you had a good time at roo.... im just stating my opinion about roo... and yes it is negative... but im entitled to it.... and i didnt go because of this poop... and now that it has happened im not allowed to talk about it??? it pretty easy to spot my posts... if you cant read my opinions without telling me im stupid and to shut the quack up the skip over all the posts with homer, the bears and the colors... it dosent seem that difficult... or is this still your own personal little happy place to talk about how perfect roo is???

well it certainly isnt for fucking telling everyone how terrible it is, how all the bands that every play there arent worth listening to, and the promoters dont care about the fans.
sorry bonnaroo has lost the magic for you, stop trying to fucking suck the fun out of it for the rest of us. your posts are not constructive at all, i could understand if you were on here saying "Oh i was actually at Bonnaroo this past year and i though they could of had more guidebooks to hand out on the first day, or if they set times were all right in the books, or i wish i got searched less going into centeroo"
but, bonnaroo sucks, superfly sucks, the bands that play bonnaroo are listened to by too many people and suck....
yeah that just doesnt cut it. it is just annoying to listen to, and ill respond with my feelings anytime i see such trash posted. "
i dont recall saying anything bad about wsp. umph, bisco, bluegrass allstars, dso, cornmeal, etc.... poop i havent hardly said a quacking word about metallica ( who i have seen) or pj, or anything other then phil getting shut down so kanye could quack around, and in the kanye thread no less.. what is your problem? if you dont understand the reason some people are horribly upset by that to the point of bashing roo to anyone and everyone then your are whats wrong with new roo.. you act like becasue most of the people on this board that went had a good time is basis for me being wrong and a weiner.... well take a look at who these people are... they all joined inforoo in the past year or so, most are going to thier first or second roo, roo is the only fest they have been to, and the majority of them are talking about jay-z, red hot chili peppers, weezer, slip knot, nin, etc... for future roos.... these arent the people to talk to about how roo is doing.... thats why most of the inforoosters that have been around for years didnt go.. or have negative things to say about roo. because its new and it sucks... so sorry... its just an opinion. dont let it get your panties in a bunch. no offense to anyone personally... im sure your all wonderful... and we dont need 5 people to come out and say well i went in 03 and this year was best... its jsut the way i feel and i will encourage everyone i come across to never attend roo. and i dont give 2 shits if they headline sci, phish, the dead, and floyd next year for 200 bucks you can bet your ass i wont be there....

ok this thread has really gotten off track and is heading straight to an ugly place... if it doesn't stay constructive/on topic, we'll have to lock it up
kanye sucks weiner his response is a very half assed apology.
His response wasn't an apology at all! It was more of a "quack you, Bonnaroo people, for not wanting to wait around until the crack of dawn to stroke my ego". Kanye has lost a ton of points with me for this one (and when I say a ton, I mean just about all the points he ever had). For the first 45 minutes or so, when everyone started yelling "quack Kanye" or "Kanye sucks", I was even a Kanye defender. That changed, though.
In any normal job, if there were tens of thousands of people counting on you showing up one night, and you decided to go to a friend's birthday party instead, you would be fired instantly. He made a commitment months in advance, but decided to party with Jeezy instead. How irresponsible can you be? But because he's Kanye West, he's under the impression he has carte blanche to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. I'm glad we bruised his ego so badly and gave him a reality check. Serves him right.
Before I do this I feel I should emphasize that I like your posts a lot but like some others your excessive, out of proportion negativity is just really starting to irk me and me making a post like this is saying a fair amount since I do not post a huge deal.
your right i should just go see something else .... who should i have saw during tool, the police, metallica, and pj???? theres 4 headlining shows... which the bulk of my ticket money goes to..and i couldnt give 2 shits about seeing them... and theres nothing else to see.....
Dude, you are talking about two shows per year.... TWO SHOWS where you cannot go out and find something else to watch. How about looking back at '04 during an old-school roo where there was not even music at all on Thursday; there's an entire day right there where you could not find a single thing to watch compared to this year-- five or six different shows you could possibly catch and enjoy this year more than in '04 compared to the two headliner shows you did not enjoy.
I mean damn dude I can understand that you hold it against superfly that they are considering metallic and pj as headliner material but let's not forget that those are still just TWO TIME SLOTS out of the entire weekend.
Now, if you will, just forget about those two bands for one second and look at the rest of the roo and compare it to 04...
Latenights in 08: MMJ (epic set), Tiesto, Mstrkrft, Dark Star, Phil Lesh, Disco Biscuits, Sigur Ros, Superjam (Les Claypool, Kirk Hammett, Gogol Bordello), Ghostland, Chromeo.
Latenights in 04: Vida Blue, Umphreys, Praxis, Primus, Ween, Robert Randolph
08 had Umphrey's too just during the day, but I think this list speaks for itself. I did not cherry pick here, I included everything from 04 and everything except the rap acts in 08.
Day acts in 08: Umphrey's McGee, Les Claypool, B.B. King, Phil Lesh Acoustic, Plant & Krauss, The Raconteurs, Zappa Plays Zappa, Levon Helm, Iron & Wine, Battles, Drive-by Truckers, Willie Nelson, Bluegrass Allstars, !!!, M.I.A., Yonder Mountain String Band, Robert Randolph
Day acts in 04: Wilco, Bob Dylan, Yonder Mountain, String Cheese, Gov't Mule, Black Keys, MMJ
In the last list I did only list some, but I'll state my methodology: I tried to stick to bands that keep with the traditional roo vibe (MIA might be a bit of a stretch but that show was quacking awesome). I'll admit that in 04 I could have not included some important bands for your tastes that I did not know about, but I did not try to bias it at all. Furthermore, I excluded a lot of really tight indie bands from 08 that put on a great show.
I only compared two years in the last sets but the way I see it is that if you went to bonnaroo 08 to see the types of bands you saw in 04, they were there in force and you probably left a happy camper. Besides this, I suppose you may disagree, but to me the 08 latenight piles mounds of dirt on the 04 latenight.
Let's review though. 08 had a 4 hour MMJ set, Disco Biscuits until 5something AM, Umphreys, two Phil Lesh sets, Dark Star Orchestra (three grateful dead related acts and you say that roo doesn't care about Phil?), Les Claypool, plenty of bluegrass, another tight superjam, Levon Helm, Robert Randolph, Jack White, Ghostland, Plant & Krauss, and Willie Nelson..... and you're trying to say that you cannot enjoy the types of acts you saw in 04?
Bonnaroo still has all of the same true roo acts that they had back in the old days, they just added some more indie bands during the day, made the latenights completely badass, and got some mainstream headliners.
This basically boils down to you being a baby because they aren't giving the headliner slots to all jam bands anymore, and not really much of anything else. If you remove Metallica, PJ, and Kanye then your argument pretty much dissapears.
Thats a combined total of about 2.25 time slots that has supposedly ruined bonnaroo for you. I can understand that bonnaroo isn't really a big version of all good anymore, but that doesn't mean that it lost it's roots, it just added more music for more fans and didn't really subtract much of the old out.
atleast phil lesh is still at roo.... he helped inspire and build the whole festie scene and bonnaroo, he loves roo, atleast i can go see him during kanyes poop show.... oh wait a minute... superfly dosent care about phil lesh.... they shut down one of the greatest musicians of our time, who inspired the whole scene, so that a bunch of custies could sit and wait for kanye west
This is just asinine; they gave Phil Lesh TWO quacking SHOWS and they cut him off half an hour early and we do not know for sure what was going on back there. I mean yea it sucks that Kanye quacked that last bit of the night up, but you are again taking this far, far, far, far, far, far out of proportion. Seriously dude, just take a chill pill.
It is so obvious that you are just scared/upset that bonnaroo isn't giving their complete devotion to deadheads anymore and are just straining to find things wrong with roo now that I don't even know why I'm doing this. Why... why is this diversification getting under your skin so much if besides the headliners they are not even really canning the roo acts? You are cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Whatever though; sorry for the redundancy in some of that, peace.
That's good detective work. I tend to stay mum when people complain about Bonnaroo not being like the days of old. My opinion doesn't have much input. since I popped my Bonnaroo cherry in 2007.
But I'd like to make this point. Govt Mule, Phil Lesh, Les Claypool are all performers of iconic status. Icons don't particularly get replaced quickly. Even bands like Pearl Jam and Radiohead have had to stick it out a long time to reach festival headlining status. When you have an event that puts on +100 bands every year, you have to cycle in new talent. Not all of that new talent may be legitimate.
So you could end up with an act like Franz Ferdinand, that still has to play the entirety of their debut album 3 years after it came out. Or you get a band like Gogol Bordello to prove their their worth.
I consider myself to be living in a golden age, when we can have Bonnaroo, Coachella, and whatever else is out there putting on annual festivals with legitimate music acts.
and I dont give 2 shits if they headline SCI, Phish, The Dead, and Pink Floyd next year for 200 bucks, you can bet your ass I wont be there....
Uh...Keith, I usually could care less what you have to rant about, and most of us who've been around for awhile know how you are. But seriously, if this we're to happen, and you weren't there, I'd have to call you a fool. I call bullshit, you don't hate Superfly that much. A lineup like that would revert the Roo back to the "happy place" it once was for you, I guarantee it. ;D
