Has it been confirmed by anyone official that they made Phil Lesh stop playing so Kanye could go on? This makes no sense to me, and unless I hear it from a decent source, I can't believe it. That tidbit smacks of being a Bonnarumour.
Yeah I also am not so sure that Superfly officially "made" Phil stop...if that IS the case then I have lost ALL respect for superfly. Conflict after conflict all weekend long we are made to choose from (which is fine) and then they decide to stop the roots of Bonnaroo for some bs rapper, who in fact never even hit the stage until 4:25? How could communication be so quacked up between the two stages when all other details were almost perfectly worked out all weekend. (Bonnaroo is a very well run fest. esp. for the amount of people. Believe me over the past 25 years I have been to at least 30 different music fests some multiple times and not all are as well planned and thought through). I mean I hate to say it but if that is the case and they really made Phil stop then the chant should also include "fuck superfly" I'm sure they are kicking themselves in the ass right now..they'd better be...... because as someone else was also saying Phil was definately killin' it and had at least an hour left in him at 3:15 when he made the Kayne annocement.
But I am waiting on some confirmation if Phil was actually officially stopped.
And yes Chali was awesome... he drew me in and held me tight..
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."

I may be in the minority here, but I don't consider the Kanye thing to be a disaster at all. I mean, sure I was exhausted and pissed at the time, and left Kanye about 4 songs in. I was irritated that we had skipped Sigur Ros and Ghostland to get a good spot, and if Phil got dissed, that's totally not cool. But I always try to find the bright side, and I thought the vibe on Sunday was awesome! There was no rioting, no cars overturned, nothing set on fire.. to me, it seemed like everybody was just laughing and having fun with it. I especially loved the "kanye sucks" chant at RR. And tell me these guys are having a terrible time:
It was like Kanye was the thing that we all had in common, kinda like the dust last year, and I'll take Kanye over dust any time!!
BONNAROOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Oh yeah, and QUACK KANYE!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
edit: does that guy's shirt say "kanye sucks bells"?... I guess kanye is even too cool for testicles.
I don't know the whole story, but I do hold Superfly a bit responsible. We waited out there for hours with no announcement, no apology, no nuthin! Yes, it would have been nice if Kanye had said something, but I expected more than some flashes on the video screen "Kanye now moved to 3:45!"

Ditto. Just keeping the audience informed would have gone a huge distance toward helping people cope. Updates on status, an apology for the delay and some sort of combination of explanation and apology for the downsized mere hour of a show are what I expected at a minimum. They cost nothing. They acknowlege the effort that we all made to be there, as well as the discomfort of enduring an indeterminate delay in the cold predawn hours, having foresaken other concerts for that one. Kanye sucks, sure. But Superfly blew it big-time, as well.
If all the rumors are true about Phil having to stop early, than I do have an ax to grind. We left Phil to go check out Kayne and we waited until 3:45 before we left in disgust. We thought that we could go check the end of Phil, but when we got there it was over. I am happy to report that we were at RR the next day and took out a little of our frustration with Kayne. I still had a fantastic Roo.
I was up front thoroughly enjoying phils show when he announced that there was a schedule change and they would play an encore but thats it...we really thought he was joking...took us about 20 minutes after they went offstage to accept they werent coming back out...it was very sad....thats what is most upsetting about this whole kanye thing to me....
kanye's response to some bad thing that happened in Houston some time ago. I pulled it off Perez Hilton.com
Check out the bold:
"HOUSTON I LOVE YOU!
Don't believe the hype! When I started the show the other night we were having a lot of technical issues due 2 the heat. The 2 huge screens on both sides of the stage were glaring bright blue like when your DVD player acts up at home. I asked for them 2 turn the screens off 3 times because it was distracting 2 the show. The fans were not getting what they paid for. I admit, in my frustration, I did use profanity on the 4th time I asked. I stopped the show 2 go over and check it out myself. After the screens were turned off I started the same song from the beginning. The screens were eventually fixed 5 songs in but it was definitely better 2 have them blacked out rather than bright blue. Unfortunately for certain media outlets, you will never be able 2 'Michael Jackson' me. That means 2 make it seem like everything I do is so weird or out of place… they always try 2 make it seem like everything is about my ego! That joke is getting old. At a certain point you have 2 respect that I'm one of the last artist that still cares about the fans having the best time of there lives! Thanks 2 Bossip and Perez for taking it easy on me on the EW spaz… I did go in a little 2 much on that one. I'm sure there are some cool people who work over there and had nothing 2 do with that review. With all that said…. "I'm still the greatest!!!" lol!! Oh and I was in the studio with T.I. last night…. so get ready!!!"

I have read many comments here and other places in which insiders have reported that Superfly/AC Entertainment knew all along that Mr. West was not going to come out on stage until the other artist were done. I am angry that they lied to us by purposely posting wrong information on the jumbotron in order for us not to leave to see other acts. I have decided to write an old fashioned pen and paper letter to them with my complaint. The trust I had in Superfly/AC Entertainment has been damaged. It is repairable if they give me/us an apology and promise not to do it again.
I am not going to rip them for booking Mr. West because that is an obvious mistake and they could not totally foresee the future with his behavior, but purposely messing with people’s Bonnaroo time is something that requires an apology.
Sorry to be a Debbie downer but I’m pissed and I need to vent.

As much as it sucks to get yanked around over some Kanye bs, it really was funny to hear everybody dissing him later! It was a bonding experience! Lets all hate Kanye together!

Did anybody think that Kanye was Lip-singing, me and other people in my campsite really got that vibe since he never said a word to the crowd and there was no live band that he could easily have been lip singing to the records.
If all the rumors are true about Phil having to stop early, than I do have an ax to grind.
That irks me more than anything. Me and my late-night-mates left around 2-ish to check out Sigur Ros and Ghostland, as I figured Phil and Frienda were about to go into the set break, and when we decided to go back at like 3:30 to catch the end, the stage was shut down and everyone was walking away. That was a real bummer, as we had no intentions of seeing Kanye...at least we got to see both Sigur and Ghostland, though, both of which we all three totally loved, despite not being that interested in them beforehand.
Kanye West is a joke. I defended him on here when the schedule was announced, and I've never felt more wrong about being nice in my entire life.
my friend said perez hilton was talking about this on best week ever on VH1, anyone know where to find shows online?
Yeah, BWE lead with the Kanye story this week, among other things, Christian Finnegan said: "Since when have jam band enthusiasts been so insistent on punctuality?.. 'This is outrageous! I have a wake n' bake to get to! My ferret-sitter gets paid by the hour!'"
I dont know if any seen this before but I was just reading about a party for a radio station in Atlanta that Kanye was at until 2 am the morning he was to go on.

I wrote Kanye a letter and posted it on his messageboard, here it is:
Dear Mr. West,
I used to like you; or at least, I used to not hate you. I knew you were an arrogant, pompous, self-absorbed ego maniac, but I was willing to forgive that, as some of your songs were good. However, after seeing you at Bonnaroo, I now know you are the most illegitimate rapper in the game today.
I'm not sure where to start, but let's just take it from the point where you pull some diva drama and demanded you Bonnaroo set time be moved to 2:45 am. You had to move you set that badly, huh? OK, no big deal, except you refused to go on until all the other acts were finished playing. You know what that meant? Phil Lesh (yes, Phil Lesh, of the Grateful Dead, heard of 'em?) had to cut his set short by over an hour. So when I left Phil's show, disappointed, I decided I would check out your so called "Glow in the Dark" show.
What a joke.
You came on two hours late, apparently you had been partying in Atlanta with some other no talent rappers, and decided it was cool to blow off a bunch of your fans. Recall, YOU were the one who wanted his set time changed, and I'll be damned if you couldn't even make it on time. I laughed as the sky got lighter in anticipation of your "glow". Of course, all could be forgiven if your show had been any good at all. However, that set was the worst piece of garbage I have ever seen. Never in my life have I seen a live musical performance so pathetic, and I've watched the Grammys for the past 10 years. Aside from the fact that you never acknowledged the crowd, much less apologized for your massive delay, your show was absolutely horrendous. Let me get this straight, you were on a spaceship, and crash landed on a strange planet, without any other life forms, your only companion being you spaceship's on board computer? That gimmick has been played a dozen times over, I thought you were supposed to be creative? The 12 year old storyline aside, the rest of the show sucked too. Your acting was equivalent to the work of a 6th grade theater troop (and a bad one, at that). The dialog could best be described as sophomoric. "I need some Pussy Jane!" That was the moment I knew you were douche nozzle to end all douche nozzles. I cannot believe that no one stopped you during the production of this tour and said, "excuse me, Kanye, but ummmmm this is the most moronic idea for a show ever." Oh, and your light show, the one that was supposed to be really cool . . . it was pathetic. Call the Flaming Lips if you want to know what a bad-ass spaceship looks like. The visuals were campy; you looked like you were flailing around on a giant laptop. But what of the actual performance? Ha. Your show was little more than glorified karaoke, performed to horrendous remixes of your songs. You cannot MC to save your own shallow pathetic existence. I mean really, you should have stuck to production. You filled out maybe 75 minutes of a two hour time slot, and performed no encore. No apology for being late, nor reacknowledgment of how badly you sucked. I was under the impression that you were all about giving your fans a great experience. Well, you failed . . . miserably. In all my short years of concert going, that was literally the worst performance I have ever seen by anyone claiming to be an entertainer. Your show ended up being the joke of the weekend, and not simply because you were late, but also because you were terrible. I'm sure you never walked around the festival grounds, but just so you know, the walls of Centeroo were covered with graffiti by the end of Sunday. Most of it read something to the effect of "Kanye Sucks" or "Kanye loves dick". Whether or not you actually love dick, I cannot say, but a lot of people sure seem to think so.
If you honestly cared about your fanbase, you would have done something about this debacle. You have the free time to blog about construction paper sculptures, but make no mention of the way you absolutely bombed the largest music festival in North America. At least address your audience, apologize, send us some money back, something.
You sir, are one of the worst contributions to the modern era of music that I can possibly think of. All of your talent clearly lies in production, and you wouldn't be anywhere were it not for protools. No wonder you dropped out of college, it is evident from your lack of intellect that you simply couldn't hack it. Did you "decide you were finished" or were you simply not smart enough?
In short Kanye: -You were incredibly late for a performance time that you demanded be changed. -Your show sucks, from the visuals to your mic skills. -You demonstrated your lack of class by failing to acknowledge that any of this happened.
I was only a casual fan of your music before Bonnaroo, and I now regret it. My friends who also attended your show (more serious Kanye fans) admitted that your show was absolutely awful; they too are no longer part of your fan base.
Please stop polluting the airwaves with your music. Your most popular songs all use samples of music that has already been successful. Who the hell remixes a hit song from two years ago and releases it as a single? D-Bags, that's who. There used to be a time in hip-hop when it was considered lame to sample songs that had already been popularized. Sampling is about finding obscure records and unknown breaks to make a unique new beat. You simply recycle material that was good to begin with, which I guess make it easy for you.
I've seen the videos from Ghostland online and feel sick every time I watch them for missing it. That was not only one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made at Bonnaroo, but in my life. Also missed Chali 2na with effing GALACTIC. I left Kanye after half an hour. It was by far the worst show I have ever seen in my life.
I wrote Superfly an email saying I think Kanye West and/or Superfly and AC Entertainment owe a public apology to everyone for what happened. It also stated that the biggest problems with the situation were that no one came out and said anything and people (including myself) missed other late night acts they would have liked to have seen because they thought Kanye would have come out on time. I encourage everyone else to email them until we get an apology. At least Robert Randolph has the balls to say something

^^No, but I assume that since every report, official review, and person say that he didn't and I haven't heard of a single person saying that he did I choose to believe it
