I can't believe there isn't more talk about these guys right now. Am I the only one who has them at the top of my must see list? I just finished watching the new DVD and I am so excited. Anyone else a Zappa fanatic around these parts?

I'm really hoping Zappa doesn't conflict with Phil or MMJ latenight (forgot which day is which). Eitehr way I'd like to see a whole show from Phil or MMJ but if forced to I would be going back and forth from one to the other.

Last I heard, this years touring guest is the same as last year's...Ray White. I would love to see Bozzio and Via there (Their performance on the new DVD is stellar), but I don't think they have plans to play w/ ZPZ this year.
Now....adrian Belew lives in Nashville and has guested on the farm before. I'd love to see Belew come out for some City of Tiny Lights and Jones Crusher action.

I'm gonna get the new DVD set along with my Roo ticket this weekend.
I've heard so many good things on the DVD... still have never seen any of their stuff (other than a few late night appearances). But any half-good Zappa renditions is enough for me.

The DVD is fantastic. We watched it twice a couple of weekends ago. I'm still shocked that they manage to do Frank's music so much justice. Although I don't like Bozio as much as you guys do (I think the drum set is a tad much), he rocks his songs on the DVD.
I've started an e-mail campaign to Steve Vai. Maybe he'd like to make a special appearance this summer. It can't hurt to try to convince him.
Just hope this set doesnt compete with another one of my favs. b/c Zappa has become one of my favorite artist recently. I hate myself for not liking Zappa's stuff earlier in my life.

I'm dying to hear "My Guitar wants to kill your mama", "Why does it hurt when I Pee" , "Bobby Brown".........."Willie The Pimp" would be badass. I can't wait.
I saw Dave Mason open for Frank in a 15,000 person ice rink/basketball arena with the Tower of Power horn section on HALLOWEEN in 1980. All the while preoccupied with the tracers from a girls sparkly halo of her angel costume standing on a chair in front of me. If Dweezels set is half what that show was I am gonna lose it. I am leaving the house right now to look for a 24 hr Best Buy to purchase the DVD y'all mention. I wish I had a nickel for every time I had listened to disc 1 (vinyl in those days) of Joe's Garage. The part that kills me was that ALL of his music was written. Kazoo's, whistles, the colorful little piano thing you pulled behind yourself as a kid.... all of that was sheeted out. Wikipedia has a pretty good run down of ZPZ's roster configuration.

Musically ZPZ could be a You Can't Do That On Stage record playing through the speakers, it is a faithful recreation. My only complaint, if you could call it that, is that when Frank played, from what i've seen of videos, he seemed intense and like he was creating the music, while Dweezil looks far too relaxed when hes shredding the solo on G-Spot Tornado, makes it look too easy. I assume this is because he plays it not from creation, but from hours and hours of practice, making it second nature, but you I did she him get into it when I saw them play Duprees Paradise, and he plays some jams of his own. When thats the biggest gripe with a show, that they make it seem to easy, its probably gonna be a pretty awesome show.
Any chance ZPZ will be a latenight show? They are right behind MMJ for me as far as a must see at Roo.
I'm really hoping for a late-night show. They can easily play 3-4 hours. But most of all I'm pumped to see them in a seatless venue. Last year I saw them in assigned seating w/ no room to dance, and everybody was squirming in their seats trying to move to the music. I can't wait to be able to really move.
