^Well that is a bit much. I had the most positive and musically diverse Bonnaroo I have ever had. I saw 18 shows most of them awesome, I didn't get Kanyed I was at Chali2na.
Anyway this is the trash Kanye not the trash Bonnaroo thread dude, and if that is your attitude about Bonnaroo I hope you continue to bail year after year so I can keep on having a good time.

One thing I don't understand is people complaining about bands they don't like being there, saying that Bonnaroo used to be better when it first started. But if you look at the old lineups and compare them to now, you'll notice that the bands that were there at the beginning and are supposedly better haven't been replaced, the lineup has just been expanded. We've still got Les Claypool coming every year, Phil Lesh, Jack Johnson, some of Jurassic 5, Disco, Umphree's, Yonder Mountain String Band, My Morning Jacket, etc. Bonnaroo has grown, not necessarily changed.

i've gotta give kanye credit...
for being able to get that massive head of his sooooo far up his ass.
fuck kanye, i missed ghostland to stare at an empty stage for 2 hours!!! such a positive vibe coming out of sigur ros just to be completely destroyed by this.
well hearing all the stories of fights, shoving, crushing crowds and kanye im so freeking happy i bailed from roo... and i know i waited until there was no hope left. but im so happy that there are other fests out there that made it so roo could even happened. but roo took that and abused the scene and now roo is is a joke. it can never go back. it will either be an mtv shitshow wiith the problems that go along with fests like that until woodstock type poop happens or it will go under from everyone saying quack it. there are only so many radio bands out there. and they put on the same show everytime. the true festie scene bands have fans that want to see 500 shows. radio bands its only cool for a time or two. but i guess there is a whole new generation of young mtv radio kids who dont know any better looking for a way to get quacked up, act retarded, and celebrate graduation coming around every year. god im glad i finally broke ties with my love of roo. but in reality roo dumped me. and thousands more that helped build it. not only that but everyone hates superfly now. good luck with thtat property and throwing more fests, because i know no one thats in a rush to invest their money in anything superfly is ever going to do again. they are the walmart of festie land. only with less of a future. i put giving superfly money right up there with my taxes killing innocent people in iraq. not quite as bad, but its still disgusting!. im so freeking happy that all good is around the bend. good music, good people, and goodtimes. the mighty dollar takes a back seat and i cant wait. no 300 dollar ticket. no radio/mtv music and the a$$hole artists and fans that crap brings, no security jacking everyone, no cops... damn i cant wait!!!
hey all you not-sees???? can you see now? the journey is complete. "we have arrived" isnt the diversity beautiful and is it safe to say kanyes a Summers breeze now. roo came and went. hes still a Summers breeze and a horrible performer (i wont even call him a musician) and hey the wish list is in for next year... its lookin like tenacious d and weezer head the list. sounds like another diverse time!!!!!
Wow man...what a lame post. You're judging the entire 2008 Bonnaroo experience based solely on the negative reviews you've read here. Pretty narrow-minded if you ask me. I hope you enjoy your other festies...esp. if it keeps your crappy attitude away from 'Roo.

Cue the whining douchebag who wasn't even there. At least your past complaints/assessments were for a fest you actually attended. Now you're just totally out of your element. Now if only you'd just slink away into your commie hippie fantasyland and stop posting here like you know what you're talking about. I hate to burst your shaudenfreuda bubble but even w/ the Kanye debacle the vast majority had a great time. I was even treated to the kindness and generosity of a few "miracles" of *gasp* Metallica fans. I don't know who told you about fights, I saw none and heard about none. Kanye does indeed suck and I hope this is a nail in his career's coffin, but that doesn't mean all your diversity-hating fantasies about Roo are true. I'm still puzzled why you even post here. Crawl into your stinky hippie hole and fucking die already.

Kanye sucked, that had nothing to do with the rest of Bonnaroo and ended up being a fun joke to tell everyone about Bonnaroo. and the "MTV" kid generation WTF are you like 75. Raconteurs was freaken great. BB King had What Stage about half full. That is around 40000 people average age in early 20's seeing an 82 year old. I can go on about the great bands I seen or about the think I didnt like but I would rather think about the many good shows. I wasnt all the pleased about Metallica being added but can honestly say that showed up with their A game...
You know after the funny or die video (They had some great Bonnaroo ones and were affiliated), and the comments made by Chali2na and Galactic, Robert Randolph etc... I wonder if Kanye was being set up to fail. Not at first mind you, but after he threw a fit about playing late, and against Phil and all that. I have to say it is a possibility that Superfly/AC got sick of his shit, and let him fail. I don't think it was overt, maybe just letting him get himself into a situation where he is gonna suck/get humiliated. If they did Kudo's to them Kanye FAILING just made my Bonnaroo.

here's my take on the whole kanye thing:
Pearl Jam went late.......and Kanye's stage set up seemed to take longer than they expected.
but
After the setup was complete there was still a good 45 minutes where he didn't show up. They just kept testing the screens.
I haven't read or seen anything official bout him making Phil and others stop. Has this been confirmed? It's not crazy to believe but I wanna know for sure anyway.
so
When Kanye finally did come on.......it was great. Really good show with cool design and energetic performance.
He could have acknowledged the crowd, apologized for being late, or at least said Bonnaroo once. I can maybe understand why he didn't........cuz he was doing the Glow in the Dark show that has a set script but still.......he coulda deviated.
A lot of people are complaining about him sticking to the Glow in the Dark show......but then again a lot of people were complaining and begging for him to have a set and spot for the Glow in the Dark show. Now that they got it (although later than necessary) they all complain about it.
Overall.......it sucked leaving shows early to wait for Kanye. It sucked that he took so long to come out after the stage was set up. It sucks IF he did force all other shows to end.
but
His show was amazing. It was an experience for me and my girlfriend. Watching it close up with the sun coming out was quite a memorable time and we won't forget it at all.
Also.....one more complaint I kept hearing was how his songs were like "remixed" or different versions of the CD songs. I don't get why there was any complaints for that? At Bonnaroo I thought everyone WANTS to see a different take on the album versions. If Phil and Friends played all their songs like the album with the same length and notes with no jamming or alterations......wouldn't people be upset?
There's a lot of unfair bashing.......but there's also some good points.
Like I said.......it sucked waiting.......but it was worth it and quite an experience for us. Didn't ruin our week or feelings for bonnaroo at all

Ya know, that does make sense. Does anyone remember the songs that were being played while we waited? They all seemed pointed toward someone's large ego and I think I remember one line from a song that was like, "you really screwed up this time." or something.
Does anyone remember the songs that were being played while we waited?
Afraid I don't remember the songs. I was numb from cold, anger, and sleep deprivation. But if Superfly/AC set him up to fail, then after I get over being pissed at them, I give them props. Should I put that all in Caps? ;D

Well I feel pretty confident he got there very late, I saw timestamped pictures of him in Atlanta, at about 1:45 eastern 12:45 Bonnaroo time. I have a feeling that show was a lot more important to him than Bonnaroo. I am glad you enjoyed his show though, I was kinda over everything by then, and was walking back, but I stopped by and watched for a minute, then listened to it from bed. All in all though I am glad Bonnaroo tries to go in different musical directions, but some artists just do not need to be there. I wonder what kind of Lollapalooza reviews he is gonna get?
I haven't read or seen anything official bout him making Phil and others stop. Has this been confirmed? It's not crazy to believe but I wanna know for sure anyway.
This definitely happened I was at Phil he came out and addressed the crowd that they would have to cut the set short because Kanye was playing a late night show on the main stage... We all thought it was a big joke until they played the encore after the announcement. Phil's set ended a little after 3, cut an hour short of his scheduled time slot.

I think you've made your point. Dude's a hippie, and you're a angry hippie-hater. There's really no reason to get pissed off that he's saying other festies are better and telling him he's out of his element when you haven't been to the festies he's talking about, so does that make you out of your element too? Seriously man, we all know you hate Dude, and it's most likely mutual but Dude's too nice (or as you'd say it... flower child hippie, probably) to really give a shit. And there really is no excuse for telling him to crawl in a hole and die just for voicing an opinion about an issue. Just fucking get over it already
his time slot at Lolla is about his original time slot at Roo.... what the fuck! i don't hear him bitching about that... YET!!!!
I think they should drop him... (Lolla) As I said from the beginning, he isn't festival worthy.
I didn't have to prove that, because this idiot proved it for me.
It is pretty obvious that he raised hell about playing the smaller stage. Superfly catered to him, changed things around... AND HE STILL BLEW IT!!
THEN this talentless wannabe artist refused to play at BONNAROO the same time as Phil FUCKING Lesh!!??!!!
It is time for Kanye to throw in the towel... If his set IS that elaborate, then he should have compromised and brought enough gear to set up quickly. (like you do at a fest)

I read this posting over at NYT comments section.
"I sat next to someone on the plane home who had all access to these events and he said that Kanye not only refused to go on stage until Phil & friends were done, but also did not sign off on his contract with Bonnaroo until last week and until all of all his demands were met(would only play on the main stage, wanted the venue to be quiet except for his performance, etc). This left the organizers very little time to get the stage set to his satisfaction. I doubt that he will ever be invited back to this festival, nor will most ever want to see him again. Apparently his crew was less than kind to the Pearl Jam crew too, which is not a big surprise. I’m guessing that Pearl Jam was invited to play longer to fill in the cross over time with Phil & friends. Didn’t he act the same way for the MTV music awards, whining about not performing on main stage, etc. If this continues, he won’t be welcome anywhere.

Why did Superfly wait so long to get the contract signed? They should get all those details worked out before they announce the line up. I suppose they have been lucky so far in getting cooperative artist who are willing to work with them on the schedule. I hope this is another lesson learned for Superfly.
I still think Superfly owes us an apology. They were the ones who put the lies on the Jumbotron leading us to believe he was about to take the stage so we wouldn't leave. A very uncool thing to do.
Another thing, I'm wondering if Mr. West is loving all this publicity even though it is negative. Maybe he likes the idea of getting a rep as a bad boy and how he stuck it to whitey and all that.

I'm saying he's out of his element b/c he's reviewing a festival (Roo 08) he did not attend. I've never said shit about his precious jam fests except he's welcome to go to them instead of Roo, which he's finally decided to do. I don't go to the allgood threads or camp bisco threads talking about how boring they must be even though I didn't attend. But he still shows up here and shits on everyone elses parade, trying to gloat over us for appreciating diversity (even if you get an occasional misfire like Kanye). That's what pisses me off. That and turdcutters like you defending his negative bullshit.

Uh yeah, not gonna happen. Remember, Lolla is in CHICAGO, and Chicago loves Kanye. His set there two years ago was awesome, no crazy stage set-up, just an MC and some friends. I dug it.
side note: Whilst everyone is pissed-off about this whole thing, which I do get, I too was there till 4 am, and I do think there is still a story we haven't been told yet, and more than likely wasn't 100% his fault. I love that some of you are absolutely awesome effing people, who have chosen to show a little more maturity on this issue. This whole "F U C K Kanye" mentality is definitely a little old already, and its only been what three fu cking days? I'm over it. I don't plan on making a t-shirt to relive it, why would you? It's just another bit of negativity that can be brought into Bonnaroo, leave it at home. Bonnaroo is about good times, not reliving the ONE bad one. Just my two cents! I love you guys.
^^^^^^If you party in Atlanta 2 hours before your set it is your fault if you are late. If you make demands to put rock legends offstage the hippies will hate you. If you play less than 2/3rds your scheduled time 2 hours late and don't mention it your fans will hate you. All these things are his fault, and can be left at his doorstep. I really don't care what else happened thats enough to make him a douchebag.
hoodoo: agreed. lolla won't drop him... but they should! this guy is NOT a professional... nor is he an artist my any means... and that is my two cents... he's not snoop, wu-tang or outkast, so the guy needs to chill...
i would LOVE to see his career come to an end. he does not deserve this fortune.
normally, i would not bash like this, but nobody (especially the ones who waited) can deny that this stunt is unacceptable.

Wow, I really thought people could move on, I am too irritated about the whole thing, like i said, i was there. I originally was gonna post something to the effect of the younger inforooers being the ones who couldn't show some maturity, but it looks like even the "grown-ups" cant take the high road either.

I think I'm going to hire HooDoo as my official spokesperson of Inforoo. Unfortunately, there's no pay. Unless you count the random exaltations every now and then and of course the Jacket which is currently being uploaded (which, in my opinion is just priceless as I'm sure it is in your book too )

F*ck the high road. Kanye didn't just steal 2 hours of my life, he stole 2 hours of my Bonnaroo time. I'll never get that back, and as far as I'm concerned I can't hear enough negative comments about his antics. That fucker seriously does not deserve anything but bad press and negative sentiment for the rest of his (hopefully short) career.

very wise words...i just experienced my first roo and was left with a brand new sense of "wonderfulness" (the people, the vibes, the attitude, etc)...yes, what kanye did was very wrong and disrespectful to those that waited, but i dont comprehend the negativity that is still going on...i may only have one roo under my belt, but i know that the bad vibes going around because of one botched up performance are not the roo i want to know or remember
