Sampling is an a musical technique that most every rapper uses, as well as a lot of techno artists and, occasionally, rock artists. If that makes Kanye a poopy musician, then I'm going to stop sampling beats in my techno tracks just in case someone thinks I suck for it.
It doesn't make him a poopy musician, it makes him not a musician.
this has to take the cake for stupidest fucking post on this whole godforsaken board

I'm not a Kanye fan at all. In fact, I honestly just can't bring myself to agree that the rap/hip hop genre is even music at all. Of course, these statements are both simply my opinion. However, as for superfly booking him, I could care less. I mean, there is SOOOOO much stuff to do at Bonnaroo that I can just skip his show and not be bored for a second. As for this thread, I don't think it has anything to do with bashing Kanye... I mean, as far as I'm concerned, B+ is pretty dang good. I mean, The Rolling Stone magazine rarely ever gives an album above 3 stars and you don't see all of those artists getting upset. If he's not ok with ONE PERSON's review, maybe he should work harder on his next show to try and live up to the A+ status that he wants to achieve rather than telling the critic to go kill himself.
I've seen Kanye West live (Lolla '07) and it was weak as hell. I've seen Sage Francis live (Hip-Hop and Harmony '06) and it was weak as hell. I saw Wu-Tang Clan live (ODB Tribute Tour - First Avenue, 12-16-07 Minneapolis, MN) and it was sick as hell. Word.

This thread makes me wonder what kind of madness will go on at Bonnaroo. Hopefully something crazy happens and he walks off stage...I could see him yelling,"Give a black man a chance!"
it goes without saying that some people on this topic are being sarcastic, but people wouldn't really do anything terrible during the set like throw stuff or boo the whole time??
this is my first Roo, but that just doesn't seem like the Roo spirit i've been learning about. isn't it supposed to be all about diversity? i'm not the biggest heavyrock/metallica fan, but i plan on going with my friend who is and trying something new!

^^The rooo spirit also does not include banning a critic from shows and telling them to die, either. I'd give kanye a chance if there were no conflicts, but at the same time I'd think it's hilarious if a beach ball landed on my head with a giant "B+" written on it.

I feel like it's stupid to do anything like disrupt a concert if you dislike the artist/show. Simply leave. Especially at Bonnaroo. There's no need for this.
And all the hating? Unnecessary. This is a forum and people are free to be critical of artists and engage in discussion.......but at the farm if you don't like an artist........don't go.
Well I am not talking about a mass protest or chanting or physically disrupting the show. However if he can not take it and disrupts his own show that is his problem. Also I am not hating on his music, while it is not for me that is true of about 1/3 of the bands this year, and every year past. Bonnaroo is completely about expressing yourself, and I reserve the right to do so. Honestly I am pretty sure it would just be ignored no one wants to pay a penalty for walking out on a booked show. It will be funny however, and if he throws another egomanical pitty party for himself onstage then it will only be funnier.

Y'all act like Kanye doesn't realize what he say but here is a few lines from one of his songs addressing his antics , "Who complains about what he is owed? And throw a tantrum like he is 3 years old You gotta love it though somebody still speaks from his soul"
Come on, we all get mad when someone hates on something we put our hearts into create. We try to make Bonnaroo the best fest in the world and we get mad when people say it sucks.

"sucks" and "B+" are entirely different. I think people are forgetting this. The critic did not intend to insult kanye. a B+ review, in most performers minds, is complimentary. Not bad, yet shows room for improvement. I would give Bonnaroo a B+ in regards of a festival last year, no way was it perfect but I had a damn good time.
This thread is awfully repetitive though, I feel like I've said the same thing over and over and over again

meh, so he throws fit over nothing and now he has something to write songs about. whereas someone like eminem has lyrics that are for the most part a direct reaction to the media/public opinion of his music and himself.
to me it really seems like kanye likes to cry and stomp his feet until he gets his way and it really blinds him from seeing how well recieved he actually is. poor him and all his money
He's passionate about his music. . . I get it. He's being human. Granted, it's understood that celebrities are not supposed to have human traits, he has a right to be upset. Obviously he's put a lot of work into this tour and he got a bad grade on it. If he sent this to the reviewer, that would be a different story, but he posted his response in a blog.
Passionate people tend to play passionate shows. I'm down.
He generates 6 pages on this board just talking about him. For this kind of publicity He must be doing something right.
Or something completely wrong. Just because a group of people discuss someone and their decisions do not mean that they were 'good or right' decisions. I can recall multiple times in my life where others and myself discussed greatly about individuals such as Joseph Stalin, or Richard Ramirez. Did they do right? That's up to you, but I have to strongly disagree with your post.
As for passionate people playing passionate music, I agree on that. However, stampering, whining, and telling the reviewer to commit suicide is simply childish and pathetic. He reminds me of the good looking whore in the class who sucks up to the professor in return for an A. No knowledge or experience gained there. The way I see it - Kanye is a great producer, but needs to get over himself and his scripted tears.
One of the things that I love about the 'Roo is you get a chance to check out acts you might not otherwise see. I would never pay to see Kanye, but I'll be at his set for sure. How long I stay is another story...
