and is it really just totally random what determines where you end up? last year we were like a 10 min walk tops from centeroo, i can't imagine being that far away, since i averaged a good 5-6 trips to and from the tents each day... damn. i would actually pay extra not to be that far away. it's not so much that i mind walking or anything, but it'd def time consuming.
when we parked before (we werent in tent only and we were close to centeroo) it seemed like they were filling the cars in, in a somewhat organized fashion. i wish i knew exactly how they did it. everything needs to be PERFECT!
there are some theories on getting a good spot, but the only way to be guaranteed one for sure is to haul your stuff over to tent only OR go vip.
I regret not hauling my stuff to tent only, the 35 minute walk from BFE was a killer. Our camp, horrible. We hadnt brought a canopy, and neither had the guys next to us (who were really awesome), so we attached the rainfly to the tent, and then slammed it into the trunk lid. So, our shade was only two and a half feet high. Horrible.

ouch, that sounds rough! we would've gladly shared our shade tents with you over at the inforoo camp! as would have plenty of our friendly neighbors, i'm sure
i'd say the best thing to do is bring some sort of handcart so that if you get a really bad parking spot, you can make one big haul over to tent only and be close to all the action! only have to make the haul once, too, on monday we saw plenty of people pulling their cars up to tent only to load up
Three regrets tied for first: 1) Not meeting up with Inforoo peeps 2) Going with a guy who drank endless amount of beer, oogled every semi good looking girl who passed by and talked 24/7 about how much he hates hippies 3) After the Radiohead set, I was a little gone. I mean, I didn't realize how gone I was during the set because these type of things don't make themselves readily apparent until after the set ends and you notice that everyone around you have suddenly become gianormous and borderline animatronic in how they move, leaving an otherworldly aura in their wake. So I ditch my straight arrow friends, who go see The Upright Citzens Brigade, in hopes of catching Dr. John, but notice some crazy looking people at the set and can't quite get my bearings on whether or not they are truly backwoods scary people they look like or wether I'm just totally and absolutely as gone as I feel. Anyway, I'm sitting in a field and this beautiful girl comes up to me and asks me if I want to hang out with her and her friends. Problem is she comes up to me with her head directly in front of a big spotlight and pretty much looks like the Madonna and I can't for the life of me focus. I mean, she was pretty but the picture she made left me speechless. So I just pretty much stuttered words that amounted to "I'm an idiot who ate too much chocolate cause he couldn't tell how gone he was because of Radiohead's setup" And she was gone probably 30 seconds later which kind of felt like a year. 2 hours later, I was coming down and rejoining my hippie hating friend who was going on about hippies being a bunch of shroom loving freaks and he sort of looked like a deformed fish the way he was sucking on that beer...
i regret eating so much fungus with my girl before radiohead too. although, for me, it made the set unmemorable. mostly because she was so far gone she had to lay her head in my lap for the whole time. she didn't even want to move after the show was over, but the stampede scared the shit out of her

I totally regret missing out on the late night Praxis show. We wandered back to camp (one of only 2 years we haven't been in bfe) to eat and rest-up during whomever the headliner was that night (dave & friends maybe) - the wife and I both fell asleep. I remember waking up at like 3:30 am and feeling like I had slept through christmas.
Damn that must of sucked waking up and finding out you missed the show.
In 05, I was at the Galactic show for about an hour and was going to catch Mars Volta. We were camped so close that year I decided to run to camp real quick and do something (don't remember what exactly) and I put down my pack of cigs when I was there. I messed around camp for a bit, grabbed a beer and headed back to Centeroo. When I got to the gate I realized I forgot my cigs so I ran back again. I was really tired at this point of the night and decided to sit down for a minute and smoke a cigarette and have one more beer. The next thing I know, I was awoken by a few of my friends returning from Mars Volta talking about how great it was
I really don't mind being out in the middle of nowhere. It forces me to plan on spending all day in Centeroo and removes the temptation of coming back. I even nap in Centeroo when the occasion calls for it. I think that I catch a lot more acts by being there for sixteen hours a day. Well, I guess that's a big "duh!" now that I think about it!!!!

Yeah, it was pretty pointless. I mean, the show itself blended in so perfectly that I couldn't tell the difference until afterwards when it came down on me a little too strong.
yea we were really far back too so it was like, off in the distance almost. not very loud, and we were sitting and i could kinda see the screen. but i met this cool dude who had been out of his mind for the past 18 hours on some cactus and we chilled for a while. i gave him some water and he let me use his blacklight glowstick for a while

Let's see:
Missing John Butler Trio in '05 Missing Trey in '05 (caught superjam in '06 and was blown away) Missing The Mars Volta in '05 (way too tired from the dmb show) Missing Galactic in '05 (yes, i know TMV was the same time slot, however, Boyd guested with them and I wish I would've seen Galactic too!)
Also, I would've seen at least an hour of TMV if they didn't start so freaking late!!!!1 guireg

I regret not seeing any music on Thursday night last year. we partied hard with sound of Urchin in Phoenix the night before our flight, and we only got 2 hours of sleep. we arrieved lat o Thurs and didn't get set up until about 10 pm, and we crashed early. This year we fly in wed at the latest!
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
i regret leaving sunday before panic's second headlining show. my buddy (the one who got puked on) was tired and wanted to beat traffic, and we were in his car, so we didn't have a choice.

I missed Radiohead in 06 cause I tripped on a quarter of shrooms for the first time and couldn't move. Although, I regret it a little bit. I don't really regret it that much cause I would never do shrooms at home (Northwest Indiana) and I didn't like Radiohead at the time (I heard Kid A and I loved it but that was all), plus it was a pretty wild trip. I really hope Radiohead tour in 2007 so I can finally see them now that I'm estatic about their music. I guess it's one of those thing where I was in the right place but it must of been the wrong time.
no big deal. but were not supposed to have direct drug talk on here. its preferable if you say ate some party favors. or hung out with some fun guys. also you missed out. i didnt care for radiohead before roo but it was a killer show. im a changed man. that and the easy star all stars at all good made me a radiohead fan for life.
Sorry about the direct reference. Anyways, yeah I majorly bummed out about missing it for months after Roo cause I kept hearing how it was "the best thing ever" etc et etc but it's all good. I've never seen em so I don't know what I missed and I'm sure my first Radiohead show will be just as cool if not cooler than Roo (for me, at least). The only thing I can saying about it, juding by the set list is they played their longest set ever but it also was a generic set, almost like a greatest hits as odd as that sounds for Radiohead, but I bet it was sweet for all the Radiohead fans.
I'm just looking forward to being smarter this year about what I see.
i dunno man, a quarter of the show was new material. the cd still hasnt come out. like i said i wasnt a radihead fan at all. just go back and look at last years thread. i had to eat alot of words hating on the radiohead headliner. and they blew me away.
id say its a good bet to never miss a roo headliner. but ive been in that condition before and missed shows stuck to a chair, not much you can do about it at that point
Yeah it was worth it cause I wouldn't do it now, it was just something I wanted to try and Radiohead will (most likely) be here next year and I can see them and the new material. I've seen the You Tube clips out of the new material at Roo I like: 15 Step, Nude, House of Cards, and Bodysnatchers (is OK), and they stuff they didn't play that I like is : All I Need (my favorite new song), Bangers N Mash and Down is the New Up. From what I understand alot of the songs that may appear on the new CD haven''t been played live or recorded ever so 2007 should be a sweet tour if it happens. I heard they were played a festival in July in Ireland (Oxeygen) so they'd probably hit the US in August if thats true. Heres hoping.

I regret getting extremely hostile with this guy and his three friends after they blatantly and deliberately stepped in front of us while we were waiting to see Patton Oswalt on thursday last year. We had waited in line for more than 2 hours and when the previous show let-out a group of people came out of the tent and got right back in line...in front of us and about 300 other people. I was very drunk and I probably got too upset, but it wasn't right. They tried to argue that they had been there the entire time(with cocky little smiles on their faces), then they tried to argue that they weren't in line at all, then I just got (incredibly/overly/whatever) p*ssed-off. It was uncalled for all-around and I understand that, but I wasn't the only one in the wrong. The way I responded bothered me during my post-Bonnaroo "activities" and still does today, but I honestly don't think that I was completely out-of-line. Also because of this, my gf and I didn't let "SamHall" and his gf (?) join us in line while waiting in-line for Lewis Black. After the previous night's ordeal, it just didn't seem right. I/we feel even worse about that...and we never meant to seem rude or anything, but we hope they understand!

oatmealschnappz u had a right to be pissed off. I can't stand line jumpers and in most cases nobody says shit and the person that does say something ends up looking like an ass. I would have flamed them as well. back of da line punks....don't regret it b/c those lines where sick all weekend long and b/c u stood up to these line cutters a few people who waited in line behind u were able to get in.....so I say job well done!!
well like i said in another thread on this subject. the same goal could have been accomplished by calmly calling the guy out in front of everyonesle who waited in line also. no need to go ruining the vibe for everyone within earshot and looking likie one of the drunk dave fans everyone loves so much. but somepeople just dont get it(and alot of other things). oh well. not much you cand do about them. sounds like oatmeal realizes it should have been handled differently. but some people arent even bright enough to realize how to act even when its pointed out by someone who over reacted and wishess they hadnt.. not that im surprised in any way somepeople think being an ass is cool... youll out grow it soem day. maybe.

somepeople think being an ass is cool...........you live by this DUDE....That is u ..I have noticed u love to ripp on peoples comments by bringing up there posts in another thread. Grow up and DUDE it's tuesday at 4pm and your drunk....let me guess u have a dirty whiteshirt on and bearfoot......U must be important and considering u do drugs in front of your kids goes to show u have no class (I pegg u as a elementry school janitor)
To get back on topic the person who messed with the vibe is the line jumpers.......it's not very 'roo like to cut in and be rude....so even though he may have overreacted he wasn't the one cutting in line so it's not his fault....I don't expect u to understand but then again janitors don't need to know much but mop the floor ...and be drunk on tuesday afternoon (probably off on a snow day huh DUDE)
No need to demean janitors. It's a tough-ass job, doesn't pay well and you have people looking down their noses at you all day. I work in the hotel industry and can tell you that majority of people on housekeeping and janitorial staffs are hard-working people trying to make the best of limited opportunities.

no sh*t dude, a jobs a job, if he's a janitor, then he's a janitor. my parents own a commercial cleaning business (janitors) and 99.9% of their employees, themselves included, are hard-working people who don't need to be demeaned by some turd pissed off at Keith. chill out buddy, its only the Internet.

DUDE talks a lot of smack and stirs it up at every turn......No offense to janitors should be taken. Dude talks like he is a ceo or a cia operative. Dude being a janitor only brings the profession down
