That's awesome. After I posted about Harvey Danger yesterday I got on Youtube to check out songs that I used to like back in the day. That was one of the first I looked for. That and Sprung Monkey's "Get 'Em Outta Here." It's funny to look back and see how much my tastes have changed in 10 years.
Who was the band that did "Too High for the Supermarket"?
Toadies aren't together anymore, the lead singer started a new band called Burden Brothers. They're alright but they're no Toadies.
Actually, Toadies are touring...
Looks like we’re getting some more shows. The Toadies Street Team has posted the following dates:
6/20 – San Antonio – Sunset Station 6/21 – Fort Worth – Ridglea Theater 6/24 – Atlanta – Masquerade 6/25 – Washington DC – Black Cat 6/26 – NYC – Bowery Ballroom 6/27 – Cambridge, MA - Middle East Underground 6/28 – Philadelphia - Trocadero
Frank Zappa - Dancin' Fool Deep Blue Somthing - Breakfast At Tiffany's Warren Zevon - Werewolves Of London Iggy Pop - Lust For Life Devo - Whip It The Knack - My Sharona
Cracker - Since I wasn't at 'Roo when they were. Tons of good songs, but most people only know "Low"
New Radicals (props to RonBurgandy?) - Get What You Give is a '10'
Cardigans
Blinker the Star - the album 'August Everywhere' is one of my favorite albums of all time. holy crap.
Gandharvas - a 2 hit wonder, but whatever. those two hits dominate.
Rusty - "wake me" was sweet. the rest of their stuff is equally good. Thank you canada for Rusty, Gandharvas and Blinker the Star. Than you Detroit for having a canadian station that played their songs.
The MF'n Toadies. i can't believe they're touring. oh man oh man oh man
Mad Season's "Above" is one of my top five favorite albums of all time. But radio-wise, it is a one hit wonder, even though its not like "River of Deceit" was huge, just another song that was played at the time.
side note: Does anyone have the Mad Season VHS for "Live at the Moore"? I'd be interested in buying it if ya do! ;D
Yeah, let's have the recently-reunited Aqua and Chumbawumba headling Bonnaroo for 2009! "pissin' the night away, pissin' the night awaaaaaaaaaay...."
I do love one-hit wonders though, they're a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. The term can be misleading, though; I mean, Frank Zappa and Jimi Hendrix were technically one-hit wonders by the strict definition of the word. I think having Devo play would be pretty badass, they only had one major hit but I like a lot of their other stuff. A Flock of Seagulls would kick ass too.
yeah i always get nostalgic when i hear that song!
I'm not sure where abouts you live, but they had a decent amount of hits in Canada through out the 90s. I wouldn't be suprised if that was the only song that got any radio play in the States. Up here, radio stations have to play a certain percentage of Canadian music, so we have a lot of bands that are big names here, but unknown down south. The Tragically Hip are the perfect example. I saw a Hip concert in a crowd of 85,000 here, but I could travel 8 hours south to Minnesota and see them play in a theatre or a large bar.

i have Live @ The Moore. It's quite expensive these days if you look around for it on eBay or Amazon.
i love that Mad Season record also. Long Gone Day ft Mark Lanegan is a fav of mine.

You guys are making me get Mad Season songs stuck in my head. Guess I know what I"m listening to on the way home.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

I actually drove to Little Rock to catch a show of theirs a few months back, and it was un-freaking-believable.
