Ok, gotta recommend this Montreal band Plants and Animals - these guys are friends with folks from Arcade Fire, etc., and their new album "Parc Avenue" recalls Broken Social Scene meets Neil Young.
Green Lemon- kind of in the neighborhood of STS9, just a good ole electronic jam band.
Aaaand though it's safe to assume we all know Umphrey's McGee I just wanted to make sure that they were mentioned. Love em. The Bonnaroo 06 set was outstanding and I think it's available for download through the roo download site. ;D
Youtube search Erik Mongrain or visit his myspace www.myspace.com/erikrain AMAZING guitar player/tapper.

^^^Tabla Beat Science - Live in San Francisco at Stern Grove
That's a Bill Laswell dub/Indian experiment, with such revered instrumentalists as Karsh Kale, Ustad Sultan Kahn, DJ Disk, Zakir Hussain and Talvin Singh, among others.
Apples In Stereo (or any other elephant-6 band!) Kinda Flaming Lips and their quirkiness, but I think better musicians, at least vocalists and little less full of themselves. (Not hating on the lips, I'd have Wayne Coyne's babies.)
I really like New Magnetic Wonder www.applesinstereo.com/ the entire album is free streaming online and also Fun Trick Noisemaker is really good.
- just discovered them actually (literally the past 20 minutes) but liked them so much I'm downloading them off itunes as I type. I had to share them with the inforoo crowd - knowing the types of bands discussed on here I can't see many of you not liking them!

Awesome. I've been waiting two weeks for someone to post here because I couldn't think of anything to recommend to the Radiohead dude that I thought he'd like.
Your "recently played" list is pretty eclectic so I'm going to throw out Tommy Womack. Used to be the singer for Government Cheese back in the 80's. Start with his newest album "There I said it" and go from there to "Positively Na Na."
Karma for Flat Earth Society. I've got them on my Emusic download queue. Haven't gotten a chance to check out Squirrel Bait yet, but they sound interesting. Try Jason and the Scorchers on for size.
