It is amazing!! Well worth the money, and the wait. The packaging is really cool, the artwork is fantastic! There's an outer cover in black and white that acts like a sleeve, while at the same time you can see the edge of the main case and the binding sticks out like a book end. Then when you pull it out everything just explodes with color! It opens like an LP sleeve, with each side containing one of the vinyl 45rpm LPs. Instead of a design in the gatefold, though, one side contains a book of art by Stanley Donwood + Dr. Tchock (Thom Yorke, for those who don't know). The other side has an embedded lyric book that runs vertically the whole length of the cover, and next to that is the CD and bonus disc. It is some of the most unique packaging I have ever seen.
The artwork is fantastic! It really reminds me of the art for The Flaming Lips' At War With The Mystics, but without the heads exploding into paint and with extra colors. Everything has this sort of cosmic feel to it, it's really different from the artwork on any other Radiohead album. The final page of the art book has probably the most Radiohead-esque art, with a drawn building covered by the paint-splattery goodness that comprises the In Rainbows artwork.
All in all, I am a very happy man for making this purchase. It was definitely worth it!
i was worried that i wouldn't get mine until i left school, because in the email they said it could take up to 18 days to arrive....but at least that means you're sure to get it before christmas!
I have to agree with you soul, this thing is awesome. Only complaints are that I found it difficult to put the records back into the book and I hate those foam squishy things that hold CD's in place. give me plastic tabs over that anyday.
On the plus side, it's awesome and we get to listen to "4 minute warning".

w00t!
yeah, I did find it hard to get the LPs in and out of the sleeves, but I'm not sure how often I'll even be using them. I wonder why they chose to do two 45rpm LPs instead of just one 33rpm LP? The album is only 42 minutes long, it would certainly fit on one LP...

better sound quality.
i love mine...been listening to the vinyl and the 2nd cd quite a bit.
i'd like a turntable, but i dont need the most state of the art kit. if anyone has any experience with low to mid range systems, i'd be curious what you would suggest.
As said previously, the vinyls are an outstanding improvement as far as song quality goes. (No surprises there).
Been listening to the second disc quite a bit lately. For those who miss old Radiohead, it's a must listen. More straightforward, guitar and piano driven songs. The last three songs (Up on the Ladder, Bangers & Mash, 4 Minute Warning) are sequenced to absolute perfection.

Got mine, and damn is it beautiful! I agree with Ideoteque about the record sleeves and the cd holders but other than that I love the packaging. Everything is so sleek and well thought out.
And holy shit, what about Last Flowers?! Definitely has an OK Computer feel to it, but it's one of my top couple songs out of the In Rainbows sessions. Anybody else think of Queens of the Stone Age during Bangers + Mash...especially after the 2 minute mark?
Oh....I haven't listened to the albums yet, but the cd sound quality was nice and the best thing I got out of it was a new appreciation of House of Cards. That was the one song I didn't really get into, but the cd version gives it more life than the mp3 did....for me at least.

I got mine the day before I went home for the Christmas break. I have an old turntable that I got at a thrift shop in Atlanta and it's still in really good working condition. It has some stickers on the casing from the 60's. One says "Out of Vietnam" and another says "Love is the Cure." I have a few LPs but not many so I'm happy to add to my collection. If you're ever in New Orleans there is a great record shop in the French Quarter on N. Peters St. that specializes in good, inexpensive LPs. They have a ton of older stuff and some new as well.
