Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Hopefully I won't get smited for this, but I was wondering if there were any Inforooers that are into metal. Because its easily plausible to be into the music played at Bonnaroo and be a metalhead.

I myself enjoy some good old heavy metal. I recently went and saw Heaven and Hell which is pretty much Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio singing. It was an amazing show. Dio has an excellent voice. Megadeth and Machine Head were the openers.

i wish i coulda gone to see Machine Head, i've loved them since Burn My Eyes, the new album, The Blackening is brutal.
EDIT: There are quite a few Inforoosters who are metalheads, they'll peek out sooner or later...
EDIT #2: I believe it to be completely possible to be into the jam scene, indie rock scene, and the metal scene simotaneously.....all at the same time, dabbling in hip-hop, and electronica & various other genres......DIVERSITY IS A GLORIOUS THING!

It was kind of a let down. They are only getting to play 4 songs opening on this tour. It would be better to catch them in a small club headlining.

ugh...why as a band would you take a gig that you could only play 4 songs at?.....well the new songs all clock in at over 5 minutes each, but still....bogus
Depends on how you define metalhead...I'm definitely a headbanger
I like old Sabbath and Zepplin. I also like some of Zayke Wylde's Black Label stuff tho' Randy Rhodes still rules....
I like some Rob Zombie and White Zombie stuff. Love Soundgarden, they were as much metal as grunge, especially their early stuff. I like Korn. I like some of the newer stuff like Godsmack (ok so they aren't NEW new) and Breaking Benjamin and Evans Blue. And a little of the metal/rap, but only RATM and Linkin Park....
So, don't know....does that make me a metal head or just a headbanger??? ;D
Don't listen to metal that much anymore but I'll always love Iron Maiden, Slayer, In Flames, and a few others I can't think of right now. Faith No More was always a favorite too. Wasn't really metal but they were on the heavier side of things with a few of their albums. Maiden will always be my favorite though. Still waiting for Umphrey's to cover them sometime. The split squad at Summercamp last year covered the Trooper but I missed it.

metalhead since the 80's here. i've seen KISS 7 times, metallica 3, anthrax, Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Ratt (2), Megadeth, TOOL (2), System of a Down, King's X (3), many more...
I am a metal head from way back, 1984 to be exact. I'll never forget when I saw FNM and Metallica and GNR at Williams Bryce Stadium in Columbia, SC. True Metal Bliss.
definitely love Darkest Hour and The Autumn Offering among other metal bands. it's always refreshing to take out the jam bands for a bit and just listen to some balls out, double bass bashing metal now and again. ;D
One of my favorite shows was Mushroomhead - also been to a couple Ozzfests (favorite ozzfest acts: Marilyn Manson and Union Underground). I was quite a bit into the earlier nu-metal stuff as well (Disturbed, SOAD, Nonpoint, Sevendust, etc.). Don't mind the heavier stuff now (Mastodon, Amon Amarth, Strapping Young Lad) but can't stand current mainstream rock.
Funny this thread popped up because I just got back from my workout where I listened to the whole Union Underground album. I keep all that music around - it's still great for working out.
i love metal but i'm really picky like i love stoner metal like early black sabbath, i was really into kyuss and qotsa is one of my favorite bands now. fu manchu rocks as does nebula. hell my avatar was my favorite electric wizard album for a while but yeah i love old metallica, i've been on a old metallica kick for the past week.
pigsnzen, the black album wasn't that bad, sure it wasn't Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning but it has some good tunes on it that weren't hits. Through the Never and Holier than Thou are some good stuff. been to a ozzfest, would never go again. thankfully i saw black sabbath together so i don't think i have a reason to go again. just a bad scene all around, kids want to emulate what they see.. they don't wanna rock they want to hurt someone.
i dig mastodon too, not so much on the singer but musically they are incredible. oooh and the deftones pre-white pony. chino needs to stop eating pills and throw away all his techno albums. let stephen carpenter have control of the band.
like i said i am really picky.

yeah i didn't mean to group em all in the metal thing. if its heavy and fast i consider it metal or at least related to metal
you're not the first person to tell me its not metal, hehe i tell em it's stoner metal sludgy, slow, riffs so big they can't fit in your ears. i just wanna fit in! j/k

Agreed, there were some good tunes on the Black album, but "Nothing Else Matters" killed the entire thing for me. Fade to Black was the only power ballad of theirs that I liked, mainly due to the progression of intensity.
I guess the Black album was when they hit it on the radio (with "Enter Sandman" - a pretty good tune itself) and I felt that "my" metal band was being whored out to a really wide audience who probably never even heard of Cthulhu. Was that selfish, sure I'll admit that.

selfish? man that was a premonition. Who'd have thought they'd cut their hair and then release Load (which if was put out by another band wouldn't be so bad) but this is metallica damnit... wtf?
nah i don't blame you man i felt the same way. st. anger is like hearing your kin killed a pack of Nuns. disbelief.
I would have to say that even though the majority of my taste falls on the jam category, Opeth and Lamb Of God are amazing bands. i like alot of the roster of labels like solid state. Metal with a somewhat positive message to me, is an amazing idea.
There's not a thing worth remembering When tomorrow can bring someone new Get used to the thought You can't be what you're not Life has already got plans for you
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."
metal was definitely my first love, and will always hold a special place in my heart.
honestly though? i don't go to metal shows anymore...i can't stand the crowd most of the time. one of the biggest reasons i got into the jam/festival scene as much as i did is because i think its the best crowd experience of any type of music i've seen live before.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
