Paul McCartney- Such a bummer. I took a ladyfriend. This was a trial run to see if she was worth being my +1 for work trips and weddings. She didn't work on Wednesday and spent the whole day in the city drinking with friends. By the time we got to the United Center she was barely coherent. In the 45 minutes before the show she was fine and then literally 2 minutes before Sir Paul took the stage she started sobbing. We spent 40 minutes in the concourse. She was a wreck. I would love to have just given her time to compose herself and meet me back at the seats but there wasn't a choice. I was hoping at some point I would be able to calm her down but she wouldn't stop. Eventually we left. I saw 0 seconds of the show and heard about an hour. Naturally, I'm still furious. Grade: Incomplete

NEVER seeing her again I hope.
Take that as a giant red flag. If you decide to do another trial run with someone I'd suggest a smaller and cheaper show. You handled it better than I would have.
i went to see brand new last night for the first time in seven years. i went with my childhood friends and ran into friends from all different points of my life. it was a really special experience, as it seemed like everybody there had the nostalgia of "this band got me through growing up." the show was really great, and they closed with a slow jam off their first album that i was certain i'd never hear live. i felt like a hopeful teenager again for a little while, pretty cool.

That is brutal. You're a much nicer person than I am, I would've called her a cab and walked her to the exit.

And both of you are nicer than me, I would of just ran away and gone to my seats. Not like she could of kept up or found them.

Ok. It's been almost three years and I can't take it any more. Lots of people have little grammar quirks or whatever and I'm sure there's something I do regularly that is wrong too, but bacon, you type this all the time and it's killing me.
It's "would have" not "would of" and "could have" and not "could of"
Yeah it seems dickish of me now, but you'll thank me someday.
Edit - I think where people go wrong with this is when we hear the contraction would've or could've, it does sound like "of."

No matter how polite I try to be, someone's got to get all up in my gym shorts.

It's extra funny because I used "would've" in the post he quoted.

I'm normally pretty good with the normal stupid grammar catch ups, but I never even process this one when I'm typing. I've pretty much given up on it. You are more than welcome to point it out every time I do it though, maybe I will notice it then (not being sarcastic).
This past weekend in Columbus I saw Modest Mouse w/ Mimicking Birds and then Hundred Waters the next day.
Mimicking Birds were an excellent opening band for Modest Mouse, though they had a pretty mellow sound that didn't really hit the crowd like it hit me. I'm a huge fan of their new album Eons, so I loved every second of the show despite a few sound problems. Highlights: Bloodlines, Water Under Burned Bridges
I had previously seen Modest Mouse at the same venue in 2012 and while the show was pretty great, Isaac seemed to be a bit distant and the setlist was too heavily weighted with Good News and We Were Dead songs that I didn't really care for. That said, the show last Saturday completely blew away the 2012 show in every way. Isaac was in a great mood and was in top form and they played a hell of a lot of old M&A and Lonesome Crowded West songs, some of which hadn't been played since the mid-2000's. The new songs sounded absolutely fantastic too and really re-ignited my hopes for the new album. The setlist is here in case anyone's curious. Highlights: A Different City, Spitting Venom, Doin the Cockroach, Paper Thin Walls, Pistol
Hundred Waters are a rising band that recently released the sublimely beautiful The Moon Rang Like A Bell and they played in a small club venue right next to the venue Modest Mouse played the previous night. They covered most of the new album and a few songs from the s/t and did an impressive job at translating the songs live. In fact, towards the end with songs like Seven White Horses, [Animal], and Are/Or, the songs took on a whole new live as dancy jams that sounded incredible. The light set-up they had was pretty damn impressive as well and gave the whole show an intimate, dreamy atmosphere. The vocalist Nicole had a beautiful, ethereal voice that perfectly suited the music and aside from a couple minor sound issues the sound was as perfect as you could hope for from a live show. Highlights: Cavity, Seven White Horses, [Animal], Are/Or
I would love to see any or all of the 3 bands on the 2015 Bonnaroo lineup and realistically they would all fit in pretty well. Mimicking Birds would be a good fit for an afternoon Thursday tent slot or small stage slot. Hundred Waters would be perfect in a LN Thursday tent or even one of the small stages so long as the set starts past sunset.
Jesus Christ. You people are monsters. There are way more important things in life than a concert. Sucks, I know, but things happen. You never really know what's going on when someone is that belligerent. When someone is that far gone, it's best they aren't alone.

Just saw Modest Mouse, Sunday in Kansas City. My god was that an amazing show. This is my favorite band and I have not yet had a chance to catch them live so it was a must see show. I was a bit disappointed with the setlist, they didnt play a few songs i was really hoping to hear, but all and all the show was fantastic. had a super good spot up front, and after the show a couple friends that live in KC took me out on the town, and I ended the night not really remembering getting back to my hotel haha, definitely would not miss another MM show, and now I am in love with KC.

Hey now. On first read it sounded like she was just hammered. If I was on a date with a dude who just got hammered and had no intention of participating in our date, concert or not, my reaction would've been the same. Date over, you're going home.
I just realized that didn't sound tongue-in-cheek. Monsters was way harsh. I'm sorry it came out that way.
Date or not, people fuck up. I guess I just have a problem leaving people when they are that bad off. You never know when someone is gonna freak out and bite a cop when you're not looking.
Caught Deltron 3030 with Kid Koala last night. The sound at Altar Bar is always shit especially for hip hop shows. Way too bass-y. I often contemplate not going back to shows there but Im a sucker for music even if its not of the optimum sound engineered variety.
Del is the man but holy hell did Kid Koala slay it.
"I dont have headphones and Im going to play some real vinyl" Thats all I needed to hear to know it was going to be a good night.

I felt that the first time I saw them too, but when you have 10 albums/EPs, its hard to fit them all in.
I remember being a little disappointed with them the first time I saw them, maybe it was because it was their first show for that tour. But the second time I saw them, a year later, holy shit they were incredible!
From reviews I've read (many on here), they seem to be a band that is a little inconsistent in their performance.

I need reviews on a bunch of upcoming shows to decide if they're worth attending.... Do me a favor and say they're all terrible so I save some money.
Passenger Strand of Oaks (leaning towards a yes if I can get the day off) Goo Goo Dolls (eff you, Iris & Black Balloon are my jamz) Portugal. The Man (but they're with Grouplove) How to Dress Well (pretty sure I'm definitely doing this one) The War on Drugs J. Roddy Walston & the Business (on my birthday) Black Lips w/ King Khan & the BBQ Show Lorde (probably going to do this too unless she's terrible live) St. Vincent (never really listened to her. I know, shoot me. I'll do some research but how's the live show?) Jimmy Eat World (16 year old me would be happy to go to this) Drive- By Truckers Fitz & the Tantrums (my brother likes them, I'd probably go with him) New Politics
