Ben Kweller last Saturday night with Julia Nunes opening. She was funny/entertaining...he was perfect. They both played an all acoustic set and sounded amazing.
Maybe it's just me, but I once saw Julia Nunes open for Ben Folds and wasn't impressed with either.
I saw DMB at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. Was the fourth time I saw them, and easily the most enjoyable time out of the four. Put the Bonnaroo set this year to shame. Much longer, more jams, better setlist, much more fired up crowd. My only complaint is I just wish the entire show (John Butler Trio opened and were good) started a half hour or so earlier.

I went and seen Dave at the beginning of this month. It was like my 8th time seeing.em and he was good as ever, he did time bomb taking that into dreaming tree(instead of the norm dreaming intro it was time bomb) it was soo awesome and in October roger waters do the wall, I'm sooooo glad I seen that in life, I know its not the same(pink floyd) but man it was just like the cd I love) and the month before that if anyone cares, I went down to n.y.c. right smack dab in time square to see kottonmouth kings that made for a sweet show, and the month before that I seen sublime with Rome which I must say I was disappointed but then again I didn't expect much without brad.. and il stop my ranting there:)

Yup that was the one..yeah I was a complete metal head, anti Dave too.. then one day a buddy played a dvd- central park, warehouse and I was instantly hooked dropped every music I had for non stop Dave, and have seen him every time he comes around. And also make the 5hr drive to sartoga springs for the two days he plays down there, and have been completely turned around to the jam type music scene
I saw julia nunes at bonnaroo (2 time actually), and while I wouldnt say that she is awesome, I would definately see her again. I loved ben kweller, until his latest album, way way tooo country for my taste
Black Lips threw it down last night. They didn't get to do an encore because either the fans destroyed their equipment or the venue kicked them off. The fans were freaking the quack out the whole time, crowd surfing all over the place, and finally, during the last song, about 20 people were on stage just mobbing Ian St. Pe and Jared Swilley. It's remarkable how those guys can continue to put on an amazing show while being pelted with beer cans and having fans grabbing them and kissing them. We were up in the thick of the masses for the majority of the show but went up to the balcony for some peace during a J. It was an abrupt ending. Cole Alexander came out saying something about the venue being pissed at them, looked to the sound guy and said, "Are we done? Oh. We're done. Sorry guys." Something along those lines. It was still an amazing show, one of my favorites of the year. Those guys don't need an encore to bring a place to the ground. Here's a picture of the mob on stage.

I just saw EOTO last Tuesday, and it was a great, great show! I'd never seen them before and was blown away. Also saw My Morning Jacket in October and it was just an incredible experience!! I'm sooo hoping they get a latenight spot at Roo this year!

So I've been seeing a lot of people mention a few bands. My morning jacket and deadmau5. I haven't had a chance to check out mmj yet, but I have listened to deadmau5 and I must say I'm impressed. I'm sure it helped that for the most part I'm into that kinda music, but def two thumbs up. I hope there at this year for sure. Does anyone have any recommendations for songs of mmj, for someone that's never heard a second of their music?
I made a very last minute decision to go see Peter Hook performing Unknown Pleasures last night and it was one of the best shows I've seen all year! I ended up literally front row center because I got there right when the doors opened and even got to shake his hand afterwards. It was incredible - he did things with his bass that I didn't even know were possible. In my mind, Hooky easily ranks up there with the Les Claypools and Victor Wootens of this world. Joy Division might very well be my favorite band of all time, but because Ian Curtis died several years before I was born, I never got the chance to see them live, so I guess this is the next best thing. Amazing amazing amazing. Do not miss.

I saw JJ Grey and Mofro the other night in Indy. It's probably the 8th time that I've ssen them. They have switched out a few band members. Amazing show. It's always a 2.5 hour dance party.

backyard tire fire just wrapped up a two-night stint last night at the haunted/historical southgate house in northern kentucky (inventor of the tommy gun was born here/several presidents like abe lincoln have stayed here/only been a music venue since the 80's and in a few years the building will celebrate their bicentennial). if you're ever near cincinnati you gotta make it to this place.
didn't make it to the show friday but they killed it last night. played over 2 hours, pulling all kinds of material including new, unreleased stuff and covers of "cinnamon girl" and closing with a near 10 minute "runnin down a dream" which sounded better than the original if you can believe that. and miles nielsen (cheap trick's rick nielsen's son) joined them on the petty cover.
still can't believe these guys have never played roo. should've asked them about it.

I went to see The Black Keys last weekend at the HOB in Orlando they were amazing. Here is a decent recording that will give you a pretty good feeling for the vibe of the show. It was Roo packed in there too. Sardine style.

I saw Holy F*** about a month ago at a small local venue and it was absolutely great, they put on a great performance and I was dancing the entire time I also saw EOTO about a month ago as well, again, this show was awesome and they sounded great. About a week ago I saw Cake. It was good but not what I was expecting at all. They had no opening act, it was "An Evening with Cake" so basically i was expecting 2 and a half hours of them playing. What I got was two 45 minute sets with a 20 minute break in between each set and John McCrea bitching the majority of the time about how the audience wasn't into it even though it was a sold out concert and every one was loving it. It was a really weird show. I mean they sounded great and there new stuff was pretty good, but I've never seen a front man act like that before, oh well, I guess it's just another band I can check off my list.

We went to Asheville to see the Avett Brothers. Amazing show, plus they had their sister, their dad, Dave and Jessica Lea Mayfield join them for some songs. Scott's voice was pretty fried but they still put 200% into the show. The downside was the sound in the Civic Center is absolutely awful It makes me appreciate how lucky I am to live close to the Ryman!

Papadosio NYE was amazing. If you like any kind of jamtronica, check these guys out. They've opened for tDB, got a spot on jam cruise this year and they'll be at Summer Camp. They had openers, the Skeetones on first...meh, then the Werks, who are pretty damn good, then Papadosio, then combined to form Werkadosio. Here's a vid from the encore. Look for the Boogie sign around the 4 minute mark, that's me and my girl.
