Saw Blackberry Smoke in Raleigh, NC last week. They played an awesome two-plus hour set. The sound at The Ritz was amazing. I'm definitely going to have to catch more shows there.
^^ Stoked about seeing ZPZ again next Saturday in NOLA!
Saw Mule Friday night, amazing setlist full of great covers (Eminence Front, Under My Thumb, People are Strange, Riders On the Storm, One of these Days etc)
The Who at Jazzfest was awesome, so glad I got to see them live.
Tony Bennett/Lady Gaga yesterday was prob my fav set of the weekend though.
Oh lordy. I don't even know where to begin with this one, but Noel Fielding was absolutely brilliant tonight. One of the best comedy / theatre shows I've ever seen. Definitely do not miss this one if you are a fan. The first set was a mix of standup and some sketch comedy bits, featuring Mike Fielding (AKA Naboo / Antonio Banderas), and The Moon. A bit of riffing on Australia and audience members, a bit of catching his wife in bed with a triangle... you know, the usual. Then he gets kidnapped at intermission and the police chief Raymond Boombox has to find him. Just a typical night at the State Theatre, I'm sure.

Peter Hook & the Light in Louisville last night was epic! The tour is featuring Joy Division's LPs Closer & Unknown Pleasures but I didn't expect them to perform both in their entirety which they did. It all sounded incredible and add onto that a set of New Order tunes to kick things off and an encore of Joy Division non-album singles and it was well over a 2 hour show and one I'll certainly never forget. It was just a $20 general admission ticket at a smallish club. My only regret is I didn't buy a tour poster which were selling (some signed) for $15.

Hooky is absolutely on fire. He was out here a couple months ago but doing Low-Life & Brotherhood, with an opening set of Joy Division - one for the all-time greatest list. I also saw him do Unknown Pleasures in Boston about 5 years ago, but I'm still very jealous you got to hear Closer.... maybe someday. Still, I had a very hectic, intimate moment with him during She's Lost Control - one of my most intense of all time - so I can't complain too much. I won't go into detail here (more info in the 'songs that make you cry' thread), but yeah, that one does it for me. And he did it extraordinarily beautifully.
Sleater-Kinney played an amazing gig in Nashville last night. I didn't realize they are already over 30 shows into their reunion tour since they are booked for so few festivals but they aren't showing any signs of fatigue after nearly 3 months on the road.
I saw them last night in SF and they killed. I've wanted to see them for so long and they did not dissapoint. God I love them.
Just incredible... Even better than the first show I saw on this tour. Scored a free ticket right before the show and was offered cash to buy myself and a poster buddy that night's poster. Rode the rail dead center. Incredible show.

I got one of those signed tour posters for $15 in nola. Pretty awesome deal for something signed nowadays.

Bummed I couldn't make that show!
But Steel Panther is gonna be a great show tomorrow (Monday) night!
Saw Pixies and TV On The Radio on the beach in Asbury this weekend. It was pretty darn epic. Was kind of worried Pixies would suck because of their age and roster changes. But they sounded on point. Only downside of the show was the security were assholes. Some kid got thrown out for dancing too hard. Another guy standing a few feet in front of me got kicked out and he wasn't even doing anything. I think they thought he was smoking pot or something. Hit a few bars after the show and some of the guys from TV On The Radio were actually there just hanging out and stuff. Gave the dude with the huge beard a high five (I don't know his name off the top of my head, could google but I'm lazy).

Thanks to carp44, just saw Tame Impala and they were incredible. Completely different experience with them live than I have had with their albums at home. I've been able to put them on as background when I'm working before, but they brought an insane amount of energy to the LC in Columbus. Played a good variety of their catalog, which Jesioneka could probably comment on more because he was more intimately familiar with it going into the show.
Mini Mansions opened and I we caught the last half. I would definitely see them again as well. I was impressed at how excited they got the crowd as an opener.

Glad you enjoyed! I am pretty pumped myself for Bunbury this Friday!
That single day probably has as many people I'm excited about seeing as any other festival this year does all weekend!!
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Wonderful news, ill be seeing them this weekend. So fucking excited
Yeah but is that the show you're most excited for this weekend? IS IT?
(the answer is probably yes hahaha because I can't pretend that my presence is more exciting than Tame)
Yeahhh, about that... Haha don't worry I am excited for the JEFF concert as well but Tame has become last years Portugal the Man for me, can't not see them
Saw Purity Ring last night. Such a great live band. Cool stage set up too, reminded me of Radioheads stage from the In Rainbows tour. Legs are killing me from dancing hard. Can't wait to see them again.

Right?? Saw them last Friday and just didn't want the show to end - was mesmerized from start to finish. She has an incredible energy on stage.

Been super slammed at work this week after Roo and suffering the annual bout of post-Roo blues coupled with entering our fifth month of house hunting, so I was not in the mood to go the the Bully/Best Coast show I had tickets for last night. I felt annoyed with myself all day that I had bought these tickets before Roo knowing this week is always tough, but it turned out to be a nice shot in the arm of live music to fill the void.
They played at the Newport in Columbus and the venue never quite filled up, so I was able to move around throughout both sets and grab a beer/switch up vantage points. Bully was great with the crowd - lead singer Alicia was friendly and funny and sweet, in major contrast with her harsh vocals and heavy guitar. Despite being a small crowd, they absolutely loved her.
Best Coast rocked out in every sense of the phrase with tons of energy coming out of their four guitars. I'd seem them at a much smaller venue a few years back and was excited to see them on a bigger stage - they didn't disappoint and the sound grew to fill the room. Setlist was a great balance of music from all three of their records. Some asshat from campus threw a beer at Bethany though and it really (and rightfully) pissed her off. I was shocked they came back out for an encore. She stormed out at the end of Boyfriend once her vocals were done before the song was over, but it looks like they went to a cool arcade bar afterwards according to Twitter. I hope that was fun enough to heal the beer-throwing wound and get them to return to Columbus again because I would absolutely see them a third time.
