i wish i were in college. choices and decisions need to be made..i keep thinkin bout summer and all that will be happenin..dont know if this could actually work out! but im excited anyways! that lineup is sick. if that is what any other fests lineups will look like we are in for a fabulous festy year
College Sucks, Thats why I'm going to be a teacher. Summers off for my festies/writing/flower nursery business
Ok, you guys here's my dilemma. I love Langerado, love the lineup, excited to see how the Big Cypress setup will turn out, but I've got no one to go with. My festival buddy and I had a falling out over his drunken behavior, and I'm not sure I want to go to another fest alone. I know I'll have fun, but it's nowhere near as much fun as when you go with friends.

What to doooooooo?
Go to fest alone, make friends, no longer alone I'm going alone, until I get to camp Corncat!
I know what you mean about not going with friends though... but i have pretty much given up on trying to orchestrate these things... if my friend buys a ticket, GREAT! But if not, I still know where I will be March 6-9 2008... what a great way to kick off the festy season

I just saw the lineup. I'm impressed, but should not be suprised. All of these festivals year in and year out, even these smaller ones, book great bands. If you go to any festival, more than likely your not going to hear crappy bands. I believe the community built at these festivals is what gives them character, but the music is the reason we go, or at least I go. That's what gets us to go. That's why Bonnaroo is the best. You can't top Bonnaroo, however, the other festivals aren't far behind. We our very lucky today, that the festival scene is so successful. I don't remember music festivals being in better shape than it has been in the past 10 years. I might be wrong, please correct me or educate me on what you long time vets know. But while my first multi-day festival was only three years ago, I have studied the "big" festivals histories, and I feel I like I understand where they have been, and how they have grown. I've never been to Langerado, but it's definitely something I would consider, however, my financial situation is very bad, and I can honestly only afford 1 or 2 festivals are year. Langerado most likely won't be one of them, seeing that I usually choose either Bonnaroo or Austin City Limits. Then again, those are the 2 perfect festivals for me. I can only take so much camping, so going to ACL offers me the choice of a hotel, which is nice. And the aftershows around the downtown area are awesome. At Bonnaroo, I like being in that community, on a farm, feeling so out of touch with the real world, but at the same time it's like its own world. So there is reality at Bonnaroo, just a different kind of reality. If I could afford the time and money, I'd go to every festival around, but I can't do that.
Anyways, I do have a point here. I was thinking what this lineup means for Bonnaroo. Are there certain bands Bonnaroo might have looked at, specifically headliners, or not looked at, that they now may/may not be considering.
Here's what I like about the Langerado lineup. Beastie Boys, REM, Phil Lesh, Matisyahu, Thievery Corporation, The Roots, Gov't Mule, Ben Folds, G. Love, MSMW, Built to Spill, National, Les Claypool, Umphrey's, Bisco, Mickey Hart, Of Montreal, Robert Randolph, Wailers, Funky Meters, Citizen Cope, Antibalas, !!!, DSO, Ozomatli, Sam Bush, Minus the Bear, Ghostland Obs, Arrested Dev, Blind Melon, Sierra Leone, New Deal, B/R Duo, P-Groove, RR Earth, Martin Sexton, Avett Bros, Grace Potter, Walkmen, Dr. Dog, Brett Dennen, Josh Ritter, Ryan Shaw, Matt Pond PA, Dynamites, Balkan Beat Box, Lee Boys, Wood Bros, RAQ, Will Hoge, American Babies, Backyard Tire Fire, Steel Train, Jonah Smith, Pnuma Trio, That 1 Guy
mmmk. now i really want to go to this festival, but i highly highly doubt that i will be able to...can't miss more school for concerts/festivals...just won't happen. plus i gotta save up for bonnaroo '08!!!!
anyways, i looked at the line up and it's amazing. for all of you that are going, i want to tell you that you should consider going to the balkan beat box show because i know they're not a well-known band...i saw them at the "Festival International de Louisiane" and they were absolutely amazing, in my opinion. ANDD for all of you ladies like me who enjoy seeing very attractive, ripped guys without their shirt off dancing and jumping around on stage, then yeah, that's what the lead singer does often. just thought that was an added bonus My two favorite songs are Hermetico and Digital Monkey.
i read on the site they're expecting 25,000 per day. no idea how much land they're renting from the indian tribe, but i'm guessing there won't be as much space used as there was for phish in '99.
as to the fest itself, i gotta say the lineup didn't blow me away at first but the more i thought about it and started thinking of schedule possibilities the more satisfied i became. there's still a few key names i really wanted to see on there, but there is still a lot of festival season left in '08 after march after all
anyway, langerado was def my 3rd fav festival of last year and i really want to go again. about the only complaints i had about the fest last year were its expensiveness, off-site late nights, and ridiculous 10pm noise curfew...which i think all are going to be pretty much resolved entirely with the venue change. drove last year and honestly, the thought of driving again makes me want to retch...if I were to ever fly to a festival, this would be the one and am seriously thinking if i go, i will make it work out.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

Thanks! Looks like I'll be skipping my class at that time. So long as I can come across roughly $40 tonight, that is. Might have to sell some lovelies I have sitting in my desk drawer... but so worth it.
