The weather will be incredible (Though anything below 95 degrees would be incredible right about now). Not too chilly, but not at all hot. Maybe the high reaching 75 and the low 55?
The river is dirty, and has been for a long time. It isn't deathly (save the poisonous snakes), but it isn't the kind of water I would swim in repetedly. Lots of bacteria. Swimming sounds good right now, but I went rafting down it last week, and the water was F*CKING COLD! Think about what it will be like in October!
Also, my father who lives 10 minutes upstream from the Echo fest was telling me that since the river is government property, it would be totally legal to anchor a boat and watch the shows. As long as you don't go ashore, your fine.
"All in all, the creative act is not performed by the artist alone.. the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act." -- Marcel Duchamp
while i do love seeing phil. and bobby for that matter. and i hope phil converts ya i recommend ya wait until you see dark star orchestra before ya write off the dead. its cool to see the og's but it pales in comparison to the energy of a dso show. they are just too old. its always enjoyable. and i love the dead so its always great for me. but if your not that into the dead then i dont recomend phil or bobby to make you a fan. its kinda a boring show if your not previously into it. but dso can convert even the most hardcore dead haters. no boredom at a dso show. they are all AMAZING musicians. they just have so much energy and have so much fun. its truly magical to experience.
I agree with The Dude. I saw Bobby a few nights ago and it was good, but it was not the Dead. I've been a deadhead since I was in the womb, and I still got a bit bored at parts. I think Phil consistantly puts on a better show. But the closest thing you'll find to seeing the Dead is the DSO. With one exception, the Dead had a lot of off nights, DSO pretty much nails every show.
[quote author=lerxst board=otherfestivals thread=1187193365 post=1187758744 That makes sense, but I am one of those laid back college students that can't make it up there.
Damn, man. I'm sorry to hear that. We need more folks like you there. Are you positive that you can't make it?[/quote]
Yea, I am not able to swing that kind of money especially during the school year. Had it been during a school break or summer, then yes I would make it.
Oh and like you mentioned DSO before. I highly recommend it. I have seen one of their shows at Variety before, and it was fantastic. I highly suggest you go. I am probably going to go to that since tickets are like only 20-25 bucks.
count me in! got my tix ordered as well, Im really hoping that they have the claypool date wrongi may end up having to drive home in the middle of the night that sunday otherwise, cant get work of on monday and already calling in sick friday
I'm in the broke-boat as well. Can't say that I'm definitely going b/c we haven't bought tickets... but I have oodles and oodles of will! My master plan involves lots of ramen noodles and trying to deffer a car payment.
90% sure I'll be joining yall there... and All good didn't kill my festival craving this season... Woo! coming from Raleigh, got room in the tonka truck for 1 maybe 2 more souls if anybody wants to hitch a ride/caravan or whatever.
Guess I gotta stock up on bread and deviled ham once again.
edit: count me in for the inforoo meet up... anybody plan on being there thursday?... I'm leaving wed night from raleigh.. playing some disc golf as soon as the sun rises then passing out while waiting in line, well maybe, that's what I said last time and lucy came around waaay before I got into the concert grounds I must say one of the best wait-in-line adventures of any festy

We are planning on going in Thursday. What time depends on what time I get out of work, but we are in Atlanta, so it will be sometime Thursday regardless.
Not sure yet, but I may be riding in with Keith, if so, I think we are hooking up with you and oaty when we get there.
Camp Inforoo will probably be centered around us, unless you guys have aproblem with that. I plan on bringing the Inforoo Falg and Pole.
Sounds good to me as well. We are going to try to be there as close to 3 on thursday as possible. It's about a 4 hour drive so it shouldn't be to much trouble. Looking very forward to seeing you all there.
When I go back to work next week, I'll have a better idea of the likelyhood of being able to take the weekend off. I'm guessing my chances are around 75% for success. I already bought my ticket, but can't make any plans until I get the time off. Probably would have to work Thursday and then drive 9 hours, getting me there early Friday morning. If I can pull this off y'all are gonna eat well. The chef is in da house!
roof & maripose...get with me and i will be glad to fix you a meal during the weekend. I love to cook. Let me know if you want to do this and we can plan a meal.
Yummers! I always knew that you were a sweetie but this takes it above and beyond! Unfortunately IFF we get the money together for tickets, we still won't be able to be there before Friday morning due to work constraints... does this work?
I would love to set up an inforoo meet-up for Friday (being selfish on this one since I won't be there before that). I came to the brunch on Friday at bonnaroo, but I was shy. I just dropped off my corncat flag and stickers and left while Spooky was explaining the kiss and tell game. Glad to see that my mysterious flag made it into all the pics though.
Im freaking excited, starting to download some of the bands today.. Sucks prices went up i still havent gotten another friend to go with me.. Anyways i hope we get a update sometime soon i really miss the weekly updates Bonnaroo gave us..
i dunno just the weekly updates we had on like activites or just info on whats going on. But I know that this wont be as big as bonnaroo so i guess i cant except weekly updates.. Anyways round 3 of the artists additions is on its way looks like we can except some Medeski Martin & Wood, Futureman, and Dubconscious to be on the lineup.. this was posted on the myspace as a comment but will be announced soon i believe.. Also no STS9 from what they are saying.. Lets hope for some MMJ..
