I remember a few years back when I was workin' back in Northern VA I was havin' a rough night servin' tables at Melting Pot, and so a co-worker who also worked at Whole Foods came over with like two 4-packs of 120. He clearly saw I was not havin' a good night and we were 'bout 30-45min from closin' up with the last tables startin' to settle up. So he and other staff encourage me to crush two of them bad boys in like 10 minutes. Needless to say my night felt a lot better!
Dessert was a Dale's Pale Ale -- always a good Roo choice, since it is in cans.
I like Dale's okay, but I really dig on Oskar Blue's new session IPA Pinner! I don't have room to pack any more beer fer 'Roo, but I might could trade fer a Pinner!
It is. Wiseacre is out of Memphis. It went from being nowhere in Knoxville to everywhere in the span of the Spring. That particular one has a 90% on Beeradvocate, and I can see why. Their Tiny Bomb pilsner and Tarasque Saison are good too. I can't speak to their IPA because those are not my thing.

Picked up a 6-pack of Pinner for the weekend. Had never had it, and REALLY enjoyed it. I will likely have some ... but won't be at Roo to trade.
If anyone is a fan of the fruity beer (Summer Shandy, Sweetwater Blue, etc) and will be coming to Roo, stop by a beer store or Kroger and pick up Blackstone Picnic. This stuff has been my JAM the past few weeks. It's made with fresh strawberries. SO GOOD. Even better on draft so if you need somewhere to stop on your way to Roo, stop by Blackstone Brewery and try a pint.

Philly Beer Week starts this Friday! Hundreds of awesome events throughout the city featuring tons of breweries and rare brews. There's always really cool and unique events like this one, too
Each brewery will receive 4 surprise ingredients. They'll then prepare a 4-course meal and pair it with their beers.

I had a glass of Westbrook Mexican Cake last night and it was damn delicious. It's basically a sweet and roasty stout with huge chili spice at the end. I actually didn't know it was spicy before I tried it so that was an awesome surprise!
Also, has anyone had Small Town Brewery's Not Your Father's Root Beer? Holy crap is that stuff good! They just started distributing to Atlanta and I can't get enough. It tastes like really, really great root beer but is 5.9 percent alcohol. They also make a 10.7% and a 19% but I haven't had either of those yet.

My airbnb host in Memphis left their IPA in the fridge for guests. I thought it was great. That stout looks the business too.

Can you offer a comparison to Abita strawberry lager? I picked up arguably the most expensive 12-pack ever of cans of it to hold on to fer 'Roo, and I think I've got 8 cans still to bring.

19%?!?!?! Dear god!
Right? I want it... but I'm scared of it... but I WANT it.

I've never had the Abita Strawberry Lager so I'm not sure how they compare. I stumbled on this one by coincidence at the Renaissance Fair when I bought beer tickets for the craft beer, and it was the only craft beer they had! But I was not disappointed. It was sooo good.
Also, I'm not sure if the Picnic comes in cans. But if you want to try it, I can smuggle in a bottle for you.
They tell us "Rock'n'roll is the devil's music." Well, let's say we know that rock is the devil's music, and we know that it is, for sure … At least he fuckin' jams! If it's a choice between eternal Hell and good tunes, and eternal Heaven and New Kids on the fuckin' Block … I'm gonna be surfin' on the lake of fire, rockin' out.
I had an Oblivion on Monday night. Great sour red. If you can find it, I HIGHLY recommend their Amorous. It's a sour American Wild Ale, and the bee's knees.
We recently tried the La Folie and Le Terroir from New Belgium. La Folie was right up my alley (similar to Amorous). Le Terroir is closer to Oblivion in that it is darker, but it was not quite as appealing a flavor for me.

I thought Amorous was just ok, my favorite was the Capricious which was a sour DIPA with Mangoes aged in White Wine barrels, it is coming back this summer though. TakeTake is really good as well, especially if you like New Zealand hops. The Funkatorium (Wicked Weeds new sour only taproom/brewery) also has a neat thing right now where you can get bottles of your favorites that have been cellared for a year or more.
I have some really hard to get crooked stave stuff as well I am saving for my not at 'roo camping trip.

Sam Adams comes out with a limited release Gose, available only in April and in Boston and nearby suburbs. (It's a special for the marathon.) I didn't care for it.
I also tried a Flanders red once. I had no idea what I was getting into. I guess I'm not one for sour beers.

It is an acquired taste for sure, no one says they love sours after their first few

If anybody wants anything from AK let me know. So far I'll be bringing Alaska Brewing Freeride APA and Broken Tooth Fairweather IPA. If I could get my hands on some Whales Tale in exchange I would be very grateful.
I will happily take you up on this - I'd love to try Alaskan Brewing's smoked porter. I'll trade you 6 or 12 Whale's Tales for an equivalent number of those, or whatever other agreement you'd like to make
This has been a challenge as its a really popular seasonal of theirs, but I managed to hunt down 2 bombers for you!
