The Felice Brothers just got added to the Modest Mouse show I'm seeing Friday!!
Awesome news . Let me know what you think of their set. They just released a new collection of songs (not a legit record label album but a mixtape sort of thing) and it's great.

Yay!: I got registered for my Calc II class this fall. Boo!: The section that fit best with my schedule that wasn't full is MWF 3:35-4:25 which means I will work 6-2:30 on those days all fall long. At least, the recitation section is 5:05-5:55, so I don't have to get up super early for that.
I got the chance to ride along to Pensacola from Mon- last night with a friend who had a Tues meeting there and didn't want to ride alone. Everything was paid for. While there, I discovered a cool new record shop (Revolver), walked on the beach twice, including once at sunrise, took some photos, ate some delicious food, and as a grand finale saw the Blue Angels yesterday.
So my day yesterday went like this: wake up early, watch sunrise on beach, take photos including some massive stingrays that came in right to the edge, shower, check out, go watch Blue Angels and then come home...showered, met husband and friends at trivia and kicked some first place butt.
I didn't miss any work because I worked in the car on the way home/there on my tablet and in the room on Tues.
I came home to find my Sanuks waiting (thank you QSAROO, I love you ) And maybe the best present of all....tomorrow I leave for the MikeD and Sarah bash.
I've had some really bad news and tough breaks lately, so to have a few good days is such a gem. I love life right now. And I love all of you.

We love you too Zen, and I can't wait to party with you! So glad things are looking up!

How were they, patty?
Edit: Just saw the setlist. Doin' The Cockroach, Trailer Trash, AND Cowboy Dan? F*ck yourself. Oh and Dark Center of the Universe is one of the most underrated songs on Moon & Antarctica. Damn.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I have this weird thing that happens all the time to me. I run into people I love in the most unlikely and improbable places were two people could happen to cross paths.
Today I was at the Dekalb International Farmers Market to get gnocchi fixins for dinner and pulling in I was thinking good fucking god there are like 5000 people here, this is gonna suck. So I'm standing in front of their very impressive cheese selection and my ex-GF happens to walk up at the same time. Neither of us ever goes there unless we're cooking something fancy and need a particular ingredient you can't find at a regular grocery store. We hugged, laughed, and talked while we shopped together and she invited me over for dinner at our house (yes you read that right our house. We bought a house together 2 years ago then broke up...brilliant!). I accepted and it was a really cool time, drank some wine and turned each other on to what new music we'd been listening to. Just a very pleasant evening. Good food, good conversation, great music and laughter. YAY!
The odds on us both going to the farmers market on the same day at the same time are way slim, and the odds of us running into each other at said farmers market when there are there are seemingly thousands of people there to is just shy of impossible, but this kinda shit happens to me ALL THE TIME! So another YAY! to my weird super power of being in the right place at the right time to unexpectedly run into the people I love. Or from my friends perspective me just appearing out of no where.
^ serendipity, my friend...it's a beautiful thing! Yay for you having an unexpectedly great evening!
and YAY for spending this weekend with so many amazing friends whom I love dearly. I'm blessed to be surrounded by dozens of Inforoosters who are my "family of choice" here at MikeD's. After spending last weekend with many of the same people (plus others who couldn't make it) and next weekend at Newport, my previously lagging spirits have been buoyed beyond words. I don't know what I ever did to deserve such great people in my life, but every day I spend with them warrants a huge YAY!
I love you all! YAY for the smile that's on my face thanks to so many of you!
