MOTORHEAD IS COMING!! I was just sitting around being bummed that I can't get home for Quack Club, and a friend texted that the Motorhead/Anthrax/Slayer tour hits Pittsburgh the same night. STOKED.
I just found out I received a not-so-insignificant raise at my job. Woop! Rolling like a Rock Star Rolling GA and buying a few more beers in Centeroo next year.
Friggin YYYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY for an awesome opportunity provided by even more awesomer inforoosters and friends that results in a miracle ticket to Roger Waters tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only have infrooers gifted me with a Sat ticket to Forecastle I was also gifted a room for Sat night. The thoughtfulness of this community always makes me feel good and seems to happen just when life tries to give me a suck day.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Yay for the upholding of Obamacare! My Mother, who is uninsurable, will be able to get many of her health problems taken care of. It's a shame she's been suffering for years but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

FINALLY GOT A JOB!! I've been looking for the past 3 or 4 months, applying and hearing nothing back and then boom one practically fell right out of the sky!! I'M SO EXCITED!
NEW JOB!!! I'm now in charge of the web communications strategy for one of the best computer science programs in the country. I really can't believe it. Its a fantastic bright spot in an otherwise absolutely terrible year.
Not a big "YAY" but mildly smile-inducing on what has been yet another craptastic day in an equally "OMG how the hell am I going to get thru all this without a mugshot?" week...
So the janitor/custodian (who looks & sounds EXACTLY like Morgan Freeman!) in my building was transferred to another location last year. He's the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Because he's such a hard worker, every year during the holidays everyone in our building gives out of pocket to contribute to a cash bonus for the guy. Yeah, that's how awesome he is. The man is ALWAYS smiling. It's inspiring, esp. considering what his job entails.
Anyway, I hadn't seen him in ages until today. I went to the Dean's office and saw him outside - in this ungodly heat - washing windows. He did a double-take when I said hello, then he did the most unexpected thing: he put down his squeegee, walked over and gave me a big hug. He said, "I didn't recognize you! You've shrunk!"
When I told him how much we all miss him, he said he missed us all too and that we were the kindest people on campus.
I walked back to my office all choked up but smiling. A guy who is paid very little to clean toilets and wash windows has the best attitude and a grateful heart, and still manages to cheer up this sourpuss. So YAY for unexpected hugs & nice words on days when you need them most.
Last day at this job that I've been commuting during the week to for 4 1/2 months. I get to be home with my animals, my flowers and not have to live out of the back of my car anymore.
Next week I have off and I get to see my little brother that I haven't seen in 8 years. I've never even met one of my nephews. I am getting all choked up even thinking about it.
And...in a little over a week, I am getting flown to Baltimore for training for the new job, and I am probably going to get to see both Bunny and Corie!
Husband is in his 2nd week of work after being out of work for 4 years.
We still have a mountain of debt to dig out from...and the sale of our old house just fell through at the last minute, which was not good news...
but still, this is the most things that I have had in the positive column in quite awhile. And for that, I am thankful.
Plus I'm an Inforoo member, which puts me in the middle of the most amazing crew on the planet.
A YAY amidst of bunch of crap lately: My new health insurance kicked in today and I got to go pick up my birth control (aka the pills that keep me sane) that I have been without for almost two weeks now. FYI: the script is $95 freaking dollars without insurance. I go get them today; they are effing FREE!
