Nah

the latenight bands this year were all pretty much perfect if you ask me.

all pretty much had great shows with great music.

gwar has a great show perhaps, but lacks in the latter department

I'm game, but I think they'd be better suited for one of the tents. Nevertheless, I'm cool w/ Gwar late night.

last gwar show i went to they gutted jerry garcia. Id be concerned about the crowd GWAR would pull. Im a GWAR fan, "Beyond Hell" was great but i just dont think they fit the scene. with all that said, if they played i'd be there.

Saw them about 10 years ago and they're crazy. May not be everyone's thing but I say Hell Yeah but in a tent.

only if they were in a tent. not big enough for which stage.

Gwar is crazy i would love to see them at roo but it might freak out some people. They could play at the Which stage theres 5 or 6 members and a gimp that dances around and they kill large pinatas of random people like saddam, bush paris hilton, a large dragon. They spray out fake blood and body fluids on the crowd.

i dont think id wanna see it at roo. it certainly isnt a big enough draw for the stage. maybe a tent. but i hope not. at the show in toledo they cut open a lacey peterson corpse and took a baby corpse out of it and fed it to scott peterson. and all sorts of other horrible shiz. that and gutting jerry has no place at roo imo. but to each their own.

actually, gutting jerry at roo would be hilarious. if anyone is offended, even more hilarious.

Please watch your comments, no picking fights or stirring up trouble with asinine comments. Like the one above for example.

Thanks everybody.

We love funny!!! But remember this is a message board. Without any indicator at all (smiley face, a small 'kidding" note at the bottom) there is no way to know you were joking. It certainly did not look like a joke. IMO it was not funny. Things such as this start fights 9 times out of 10.

GWAR?

I politely decline the offer, thank you, maybe some other time.

I started this thread thinking it would be a cool idea. I didn't know to much about Gwar except they had a really over the top stage show, but having heard some of the stuff about them I have changed my mind. They just sound truly sick and twisted. If I could change my vote, I would have to go with "are you nuts?". I really must have been.

nah dont feel bad for suggesting it, gwar is all about satire, its funny and sick and great but like i said their fans can sometimes be morons and take the band too seriously

by the way, nice avatar

Anyone offended at a Gwar show should have their life ended for taking it too seriously.

if i walked by a stage at roo and saw jerry garcia being gutted i would be offended. and i wouldnt be too keen on seeing a fetus cut from corpses and fed to someone either. sure its supposed to be funny to some. who i dont know. but it has no place at roo. and certainly life ending is not for roo. damn i love the new roo crowd. this diversity is great! bring on korn, gwar, and incubus!!! wow. what the hell happened to my paradise? (it moved to ohio, w. virginia, and minnesota)

incubus doesn't fit in that group. if gwar and korn even fit in the same group. i don't like either of them, by the way.

I'm going to have to say hell no to Gwar, Korn, etc. Those bands belong somewhere else....possibly hockey/ basket ball arenas or Coachella.

I know I'm not one to say who should and shouldn't be at 'Roo, but it seems like there is a positive vibe that comes from the art, crowd, and good music. I for one think that artists like Gwar would go to Bonnaroo simply because they got booked there, not because they feel welcomed and proud to have the opportunity to play in front of an audience that are troo music fans. I honestly think they would just do stuff for shock value rather than the love of music.

Yeah, I'm all about artistic expression, but too many people don't know them and wouldn't understand the 'satire' of gutting their hero
Ozzfest? Definitely
Bonnaroo... I shudder at the thought

Troo that.

I think Tool was an exception for artists of the or a similar genre because of the psychedelic element in their music. But I just think artists like GWAR would just do 'Roo for shock value.

well said. and i think thats what was wrong with roo this year. too many acts just playing a gig. lots of exposure. blah blah blah. or they are on tour and have way better timeslots at other fests so they just dont bring it like i expect a band at roo to bring it. thats why the only shows i loved this year were the latenights from bands that have nothing to do but put on a killer show. sci, wsp, and mule know what roo is about. i also love the shows from the little bands that are just trying to put on the best shows of their career because its freekin bonnaroo. like sam roberts, rod and gab, and uncle earl. and last year grace potter. get rid of these big national/worldwide touring acts that are only out to make money putting on the same show every stop on the tour (petty, the police, tool, etc...) it should be about the love of music and people and not the love of money. roo seems all about the money now days. the vendors are taxed so much by superfly that prices are insane. when i first went yo roo vendors had nugs in baskets for sale right next to their pipes. this year they werent even allowed to have pipes and the normally friendly and helpful horse security people were working hard to set up under cover buys so they could bust pot peddlers. shakedown seemed like it was the county fair this year. not roo. the searches at centeroo were out of control. i felt violated everytime i went in. no glowsticks was frittated. security was shady as hell all the way around this year. and the dust is enough to kill an elephant. there are some serious health concerns with roo that contribute to it not being worht it anymore. plus the new lineup finally caused that change in the crowd i was worried about. you could still find the festie people but this year ya had to look hard. latenight was the only place i found it. im used to everyone smiling and talking to each other. sharing what they got. and it just wasnt happening like a normal fest at roo this year. it seems the large percentage of rooers are custies, the people who sell to custies, and professional criminals now days. and truthfully i saw 4 shows that blew me away this year. as opposed to 15 or so in years past. its just hardly worth the money for mule, sci, and wsp. not when you can see them at fests that have a great crowd and none of the hassles of roo. im sure i will be back at roo next year for 2 latenights and sundays headliner. but i will likely be alone. this year was the final nail in the coffin for the few hardcore rooers i know that didnt give up on roo years ago. they are already planning on all good or 10klf next year. if you love roo and havent been to another fest do yourself a favor and go to one. the community is amazing, it dosent cost a months worth of pay, and the lineups are better. by all means go to roo. but dont think that its the only thing going. or even close to the best thing going. there is so much more out there. and you dont have to deal with people who say your life should be ended if your offended by seeing jerry gutted. and you dont have to give money to superfly. the walmart of the festie world. try out all good, 10klf, gathering of the vibes, summercamp, mountain jam, or anything at nelson ledges. you wont be sorry you did. imo these are the real fests. roo is kinda the mega mall of fests. just a commercialized shell of its former self. sorry for the off topic rant.

The problem with that is, I don't like the lineup of the other fests. Aside from the past couple of years at Bonnaroo, I didnt like those lineups either. I think Allgood is awful (aside from a few bands) and I hate the crowd that goes there. The good thing about Bonnaroo is you get diversity. At least you do now. Bonaroo is a fest free to think outside the box and have whatever musical acts they want. "Commercialization" is one thing that shall be argued upon. What makes GWAR more "commercial" than The Dead or Phish or whoever? They're not at all. How often do you see a guy wearing a shirt with the Grateful Dead name smeared all over it? Or The skull, or the bears? Or the stickers on a car? Or anything else like that? All the time. When do you see guys with a Gwar shirt? Or stickers? Its rare, but you can find them once in a while. Okay, when was the last time Gwar played a show that cost $40+? How much is it for a Bob or Phil or Trey or Panic or SCI or any of those bands show? I'll tell ya, a heck of a lot more than a GWAR show.

And so on. Gwar isnt nearly as "commercial" as half of the bands that half been on Bonnaroo.

And I have to go back to something and say...Korn? Who ever said anything about Korn? I'm pretty sure that no one would want Korn at Bonnaroo. Please never compare Gwar or Incubus to Korn again.

I'm not sure how Incubus fits in here anyway. I think theyre a perfect fit for Bonnaroo. Its not like theyre a grindcore band. They're Incubus.

Maybe I'm the only one around here who wouldnt like to see the same 10-15 jam bands playing every year. I'd prefer a festival that caters to the MUSIC fan. not the JAM BAND fan. And a band being big or commercial doesnt make them bad, just as much a band being big doesnt make them good. Chill out and listen. You might find something you like aside from the same old jam bands.
