Buffalo Springfield was with out any doubt one of my highlights of the weekend, but it did not satiate my desire for Neil. We absolutely need some sort of Neil to headline in 2012. Crazy Horse, solo, some other concoction (Neil and Pearl Jam would be the coolest thing EVER) or whatever it just needs to happen. Here are a few videos to prove my point.

As much fun as Neil appeared to be having leading the Roooooooo wave I could definitely imagine him wanting to return. I don't even think he necessarily has to be billed as a headliner either. Maybe just top 5.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
Even with BS playing this year I think some other Neil project could easily close out Sunday any Neil project would have equal or more appeal than pretty much any jam headliner
In all honesty, I think having BS there this year helps chances for Neil next year. Maybe it put them back in contact or made him realize how awesome Bonnaoro is. BS ≠ Neil Young & Crazy Horse so it's not like they would be repeating an act.
Yeah, I love Buffalo Springfield, but nothing would catch my interest like a Crazy Horse set. Neil produced one of the finest discographies of the 70s, and a set of that material would be among the best things possible.

For 2013 or '14, perhaps, but I don't think it helps for 2012.
I don't know if it helps but I really don't think it hurts. I agree with the theory it's a good sign that he is in contact with the festival after not playing for 7 years and that he was reminded that it is a cool festival in the heart of the Euro fests that he seems to love so much.

I think Neil being there this year wouldn't hurt or help his chances of coming back next year. That he had such a good time out there on Which and that Roo has started recently doubling up with fairly large acts like Mumford and The Keys this year (I know they aren't as big as Neil) seems a good indicator that it is more likely than not that he will be back.

having seen him now in all possible scenarios I would say he is best when he is playing under a Neil Young and friends situation. You usually get a good mix of acoustic and electric and he often has some pretty stellar musicians backing him. That being said, I will take Neil reading A-F from the Nashville phone book if it means getting him back on the farm
