Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
UPDATE ~ After I'd emailed them, I rechecked it just now and their reporter has removed the part about the being confirmed for Roo. There you go folks, lets put this thread to rest for now.
*Just got an email back from them that says this:
'Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have removed the reference to Bonnaroo until we can confirm that their appearance has been officially secured.'

If it's true, I'll be very happy. U2 isn't my first choice of headliners, but we're obviously not getting Radiohead or Daft Punk and I'd say U2 is a lot better than some alternatives.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

How? Daft Punk I will grant you. But was there ever any talk about Daft Punk holding down the number one spot? I think that this would be a bit far fetched for Bonnaroo. I would take Radiohead over U2 in a heartbeat. If U2 closes Sunday, I will go home early. If they close Friday or Saturday, I will take a nap or have some more of that amazing pizza.

I wish I could see U2 as a fun show. Could somebody give me some songs to convince me of their validity as a band? All I can think of off the top of my head is garbage. Beautiful Day is one of the most repulsive songs I can think of. With or Without you is a close second. Bloody Sunday is nothing to write home about. Has U2 ever done anything worth listening to? I have 2,000 songs on my Iphone. None are by U2.

Its like anything else, if you like U2 they are completely awesome to see live. If you don't, then obviously you get more sleep/nap time or time to play! Capiche?

If i tried to put U2 on my iphone the phone would file for seperation and move in with a forty something balding scupture, then procede to file a civil suit on the grounds of emotional distress.
Come on. No one is ever going to like all the headliners. We're going to have a quote unquote classic act and U2 will most likely be that act. We're still going to have others that will be great. Calm down.

I will admit there's not a lot of them, but they do have some great songs.
Just tried them. I made it 2/3 the way through each. Good try, but that sound just sickens me. It's a pretentious overly produced sappy late 80's early 90's sound put forth by greasy bombastic bastards.

Of course. The undercard is always better music than the headliners. But, there aren't many bands that I would rather go home than see for free. U2 is one of them. DMB is another.

AHEM!!!
Sorry, that is just too subjective for my taste! But, the nap idea might not be that bad. I just hope they aren't closing the festival. Going home early seems like such a drag.

Dude I hope you are right - Arcade Fire or Radiohead or Daft Punk would make the festival - U2 just isn't epic enough for Roo X - it's effing Roo X!!! You are right though - we have to have a quote unquote classic band - I hope U2's it and not the Fri/Sat closer!!!!!

You make it sound like Bono plans on holding your head on the stage and personally pissing in your ears. I am not a big fan either but get earplugs set an alarm and take a nap. I actually enjoy a time when I can relax and know I am only missing one band and I do not like them. There is no reason to get the vapors over one band.

couldn't have put it better myself - you would never catch win butler or thomas yorke wearing effing sunglasses and an effing leather motorcycle jacket during a show - pretentiolicious!!
I don't know how troo this is, but I googled U2 Bonnaroo and I found this post that someone responded with to a newspaper article:
"Threre's one problem with this rumor. U2 are locked into an exclusive agreement with Live Nation to promote their concert performances until 2020. They can play glastonbury because Live Nation co-owns the festival.
Bonnaroo is owned by AC Entertainment, thus making it a business impossibility for them to play there"
Anyone have some insight to the validity of this contractual agreement?

No, I'm not saying that them being there ruins the festival. If you read my comments you would see that I already said that I would take the time to enjoy a nap if they were headlining. I am just disappointed that this will be my second bonnaroo, and that each of the two main headliners will have been two of my least favorite bands. I'm railing against bad luck more than anything. I would love an epic headliner.
