I'm guessing that they're going to keep it a secret this year to create a bit of buzz onsite...

I hope that they announce it, otherwise I'll have to be there to see who comes out on stage.

well, the superjam lineup wasn't announced in this week's update, and i'm having a tough time seeing them post a superjam announcement next week, so i'm thinking we won't know for sure until the members hit the stage.

i'm cool with that.

It is only Wednesday - they've had two slates of announcements a week for the last two weeks...

It's weird - for the first couple years, the SuperJam seemed to be just that: a motley collection of musicians thrown together, who picked a theme and jammed on it. The last few years, they've gotten away from that, to more established collaborations (GRAB, last year's jam which was obviously heavily pre-planned and announced). I wonder if they go back to the old formula?

I think the announcement last year was also to attempt to spread the crowd out. (which ended up backfiring :P ) Wasn't the superjam last year up against SCI's presumably last Roo appearance ever? If they hadn't announced the superjam I feel that everyone would be at SCI, which would've been sickly crowded. This year, every night has so many incredible acts at the same time though I really don't think they'll need to announce the line up in advance.

I saw the Phil Lesh superjam on youtube and it orgasmic, so I really wanted to come see this one. The only problem is that I can't pick any of the late night stuff! I think I'm going to end up at superjam the possibilities are so good for a nice jam, and I always love me a good jam I might even get there early to get up close.

Just googled this.

It would make sense to me that this could be epic. Claypool knows Hammet, and Hammet knows Jack and Eddie? and the guy from GB...This could be intense...

^^I know for a fact that if I were to be there that I would not move anywhere but forward for the entirety of the Jacket set. It's their record release party and everyone's still gonna be singing along to their latest hits. Gonna be epic, for sure :D

See, now that would be a SuperJam. Claypool, Hammet, Hintz, etc. doing a set of Tom Waits' material? Sounds cool.

One other thing - with the exception of last year (and 2002 which was a huge free-for-all), pretty much every year there was a participant in the SuperJam who wasn't actually scheduled at Bonnaroo. In 2006, Trey showed up (along with Benevento/Russo, who I don't think were on the bill). In 2005, ?uestlove came. In 2004 it was Maceo Parker. In 2003 it was Dr. John.

Wonder if they're going back to that for this year?

I don't know how I'd handle a crowd singing along to MMJ. I mean, it's weird - I feel like they're one band that I've really watched grow up and gain all this popularity and commercial acclaim. I distinctly recall watching them in "That Tent", first act of the day back in 2003, with a half-full crowd. It's weird to think that now they can command a late-night stage, with a crowd that can sing along. Just crazy.

That is true, aside from the fact that Jim James is a master of his own lyrics and nobody else really should ever attempt to do what he does... I still just can't imagine the power of thousands and thousands of fans singin along to the chorus of One Big Holiday though :o :D

Too tough. Might just stick at MMJ the whole time rather than miss some of it. I know i'll kick myself hard if I miss something big but I missed Superjam last year, downloaded the show, and am just as happy as if I had seen it.

MMJ is high up on my list though. IF no announcement i'll prolly just stay at MMJ. maybe leave for a set break

They announced the Superjam last year to try to sell more tickets, not to spread the crowd out. SCI was never going to "dominate" a night at Roo last year.

I've been out of the loop, so can someone answer this:

Has there been any info that REFUTES the heavily rumored Hutz/Claypool/Hammett collaboration (which for those who don't know, has been discussed for weeks upon weeks here)?

Really looking forward to seeing Gogol Bordello, Sigur Ros, Rilo Kiley, Superdrag, Plant and Krauss, Willie Nelson, MSTRKRFT, MGMT, MIA, Battles, Rogue Wave, Jack Johnson, Swell Season, Vampire Weekend and Ladytron for the first time. Looking forward to seeing Pearl Jam, Metallica, Raconteurs, Death Cab, MMJ, Ben Folds, Les Claypool, BSS and Ghostland Observatory again.

I think unless something huge gets announced we'll be at MSTRKFT and Tiesto instead of the superjam.

Just in case it isn't announced, I will most definitely allude to the Superjam during the Q & A with Claypool; hoping for an aswer

My current plan of attack is MMJ for an hour then head over to SuperJam. If it doesn't interest me, then I'll head back. But the thought of Claypool, Hammet and Hutz outweighs MMJ for me.

I really pray that it is not the Claypool, Hammet, Hutz Superjam. Personally, not that hammet isn't a good guitarist, but I'd prefer to see someone who has a different style than him. With all the bad press that Bonnaroo got for adding Metallica to the line-up, I'd be a little surprised to see him on stage again at the Superjam. I think that someone mentioned before that the Superjam also has usually included someone not otherwise involved in Bonnaroo, and honestly a Superjam of Claypool, Hammet, and Hutz, even if they are doing Waits covers, without adding Waits to the mix, or someone equally epic, is a huge step down from year past. I mean, a Phish type Superjam, to a Led Zeppelin type Superjam, to Claypool Hammet, and Hutz???

MMJ the whole time for me... As I've said, the only way that Superjam is worthwhile for me is if Waits himself shows up, and that's just not going to happen... It's Tom Waits for quack's sake
