 Trey hints at Reunion...
« Thread Started on May 28, 2008, 9:36am »

I can't hide my excitement, even if just for some words coming from Trey. Basically he is saying what I want to hear. Hopefully, it's ON!!!! This was on Rollingstone.com this morning.

Trey Anastasio Hints at Phish Reunion

5/28/08, 8:03 am EST

Nearly four years after their break-up, the four members of Phish may have some unfinished business together. In an interview with Rolling Stone last week, Trey Anastasio didn’t exactly say the band has talked about a reunion, but he did drop some heavy hints. “When Phish broke up, I made some comment about how I’m not gonna go around playing ‘You Enjoy Myself’ for the rest of my life,” Anastasio said with a laugh. “And it’s so funny because Fish and Mike and Page have been talking to each other a lot lately and now — it’s not that I can’t believe that I said that, but its symbolic of how much I lost my mind or how much I lost my bearings or something. Because at this point in time I would give my left nut to play that song five times in a row every day until I die. I certainly thought about that while I was in jail.”

Anastasio spoke to RS on May 21st, the same day he received some good news: He was sentenced to probation on charges of possessing painkillers without a prescription, which had been reduced to a misdemeanor after he completed a NO NO WORD!!! treatment program. Earlier in May, Anastasio and the other members of Phish stood onstage together in New York to accept a lifetime achievement award at the Jammies.

That would be great. I started getting into live music as they were heading out, so I really feel like I missed out not getting to see them.

Ha... makes it sounds like it was the NO NO WORD!!! that broke up Phish or at least put the thought in his head in the first place.
Hopeful news though *fingers crossed*

Absolutely the biggest indication towards reunion he has made since they broke up. I can't imagine he says that to Rolling Stone if something isn't going to happen.

Trey's addiction to oxy definitely played a large part in the break up (not to mention the sloppy playing).

If he's seriously figured sh*t out, and he's really ready to be a part of a band, then I can't wait to see these guys again. But if it's going to be the "let's watch Trey self destruct-AGAIN tour," I don't want to see that happen.

Here's to hoping for the best.

How does one go on tour and be around that "culture" and remain clean? That has got to be hard.

Yeah... I have a feeling that SOMETHING will happen out of the ordinary from Phish. Maybe not the whole band back together, but possibly over half the band.

Phish in 2009 will be the greatest thing to happen to me. Imagine they get to headline!?!?! I never got to see them live (got into them too late) but would cry tears of joy if I was able to witness the greatness.

but it makes more sense to be at roth than roo.

I have been saying this may be my last Roo this year. If Phish plays it next year, that changes everything.

Hows this...Led Zeppelin/Phish?

Just kidding.

This would make me sooo happy! I've seen many Phish shows and was at Big Cypress and I really really miss them.

It would make me even happier if they had the reunion on the grounds of Bonnaroo - it's the perfect place :D

Phish held several events the size of Bonnaroo as the ONLY band playing. If they did a Roo (and that'd be nice), I would have to demand they headline all 3 nights. Maybe all 3 late nights?

Lemonwheel was my first festival (10 years ago? Wow). Big Cypress was my second.

I saw Phish 30 some odd times between 1997 and 2003. I don't ever want to see them again if they can't get that mid 90's magic back. I am so glad I did the Coventry thing at the movie theater 30 minutes away from home. My friends drove 25 hours from Atlanta for THAT.

I can't foresee Phish ever having their own festival again. Do you think they were happy with the outcome of Coventry? I'm sure they felt really, really bad about the whole situation. And now there are festivals that are being established across the country. It's so much easier for them and much less pressure than to do their own multiday festival again.

that's actually a really, REALLY good point....

they could just show up and play their 3 sets like they always did and the late nights could start after that. :-)

I thought Bonnaroo was supposed to be about variety. Having Phish headline 3 nights would be the opposite of that.

Hopefully that'll never happen.

i didn't say it would have to be at Bonnaroo, but couldn't you see something like 10KLF having 2-3 nights of phish? or a new fest with alot of good bands and Phish playing 3 sets a night, then late nights....phew

would be tight....

This is the best news that I have read on this site, since someone got my hopes up that Zeppelin was going to be a Roo this year!!! As far as Phish ever playing Bonnaroo, I pray that they get back together and play for another 20 years together now that Trey has his act figured out, so playing Bonnaroo won't matter that much, since they will get back to doing 1-2 tours a year.

As far as playing all 3 nights at Bonnaroo, if they do get back together, I think while that might be against the Bonnaroo tradition of variety, if it is their first time playing together since the break, I think that at least 2 sets is appropriate. Maybe Friday late night, Saturday, headliner, and Sunday, close it out???

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that my favorite active guitarist (I don't count Page as active) gets back to mid-90s form and gets the best Jam Band ever back together. At the worst, at least Trey will get out on the road again.

I can't see Phish ever playing a multi-band festival.

In the past they've always had their own vision for how they want the weekend to go and have found a team that can make it happen. Not to make them sound like divas, but I just don't see them hopping aboard someone else's festival when they could make just as much (maybe even more) money by playing their own festival with their own rules. Besides--Phish cannot be done in less than two consecutive sets.

I really do hope they get back together for some shows--and just in time for me to finish my thesis and hit the road with them :)

i think going to jail for druqk use finally smacked him in the face. i'm sure he was there and he just said... "really? i'm here for prescription pills?!"

i'm all for partaking(and not to make any comparisons), but we've already lost Jerry Garcia. Do we really need to lose Trey too?
