earlier tonight i was listening on last.fm, i put in widespread to start and it was ok. the next song was 32 things from moe. and i thougt it was 100x better and how much more i would rather see moe. added than WSP

I'm sorry to be more of a negative nellie (?), but moe. is the jamband I detest the most. I would rather watch WSP for the seventh time than moe. Dammit, this is actually getting worse.

I am not much of a WSP fan myself.
I really hope they announce more than one band.
I would be really disappointed if it was just WSP and/or moe.

I just don't understand why you go down that road when there are so many other bands that haven't played before that they could invite.

People were bitching about Widespread playing too much LAST year. Now they bring them back again? That's like adding insult to injury.

I love Bonnaroo, and the lineup this year is already stellar, but Superfly, if this is all you've got, you should really think long and hard about building up the hopes of the people that put a lot of stock in the things you say and do.

To me WSP and moe. are the two jambands that I see that ride the coattails of other jambands and really do not make their own sound. WSP sounds to me like a poor mans Allman Brothers Band and moe. with the Grateful Dead. At least Umphrey's McGee and Galactic and a handfull of others have their own distinct sound.

Nevermind about WSP. I think I will get over it. Hell I skipped their show last year and might even check it out.

Still the same with moe. though. My anger has subsided from last night.

I know. I can't help but fantasize about an announcement that Aphex Twin or Tom Waits or Muse have been added (as just a few of many, many exciting, fresh and downright excellent acts). I would be so impressed with Bonnaroo for continuing to expand and cater to broader tastes.
Instead, it's WSP and moe. And the fantasy becomes a nightmare which I can't escape.

If it's just Widespread and moe., it's a response to the latent anxiety that's been floating around since February that "the hippies have left the building." AKA, they're concerned that they've undermined the dynamic/atmosphere of their festival to a noticeable degree. Many people who come to Bonnaroo are looking for a "taste of Woodstock." They want to go back in time. It's like a Renaissance festival for people who wish they lived during the Summer of Love.

An Aphex Twin add would have made this the weekend of my life. WSP and Moe. , no offense to the fans or the band itself, it's just not my thing in a genre I rarely care for anyway. Mule would've been so much better and widely accepted... I'm still hoping for that, at least.

i still think WSP is a weak replacement for ABB... but i can roll with it if there is more to come (not moe). if gov't mule gets added as well it might look better...

Let me clarify. I have no problem with WSP. I actually have a good deal of respect for them. But they play festivals so much that they've become a commodity. The only thing surprising about them is that they're not surprising at all.
