Last week a tent showed up near the Bonnaroo site. Naturally, I was a bit curious. In the past four years, I can't remember anyone showing up this early. On the way home this morning I decided to snap a pic.
After I'd slowed down and taken the picture, a head emerged (no pun intended). Meet Kramer.
He and his buddy hitched out of California to make it to Bonnaroo. The little puff ball is a puppy that someone stashed in their tent a few days ago with a bag of food.
Beginning June 1st, the lease on the land around roo is put in effect. Hopefully they won't give Kramer and his buddy a hard time about where they are camped. Folks, please don't get any ideas about coming too early.
so what is it kramer is doing there? just chillen? waiting for the show?
He was planning on working the show, but the substitute document for his Social Security card isn't flying with the management. The fella he came out with is currently working with the setup crew. Kramer ISO work if anyone needs a helping hand

this will be the puppy's first bonnaroo ;D
he's hoping the puppy will get her walkin legs in the next few weeks. as far as the pups name goes... it hasn't been determined yet. sometimes it takes a while to find the right name, ya know?
I stopped over at "Camp Kramer" earlier today when my wife and I were on the way to town and talked to the guys. His traveling partner was with him and I got his name but for the life of me, I can't remember.
NEWay, I asked them how they were doing and if they needed anything and they said no that everything was cool. My wife, who is of a tremendously generous heart, insisted that we get a cooler with ice and some water and sodas, so we did.
On the way home we stopped and got out and chatted with them for a few minutes. They were very thankful for the drinks and ice.
I asked them what they did last Thursday night during the storms (we had bad thunderstorms that night). They said that they just battened down the hatches (???) in thier little lean to.
They told me about their travels a bit in that they started out in Miami, and went out to Cali, some hitching some greyhound. They ran into a couple of girls headed to Cochella, so they went there.
After Cochella, they found out about Bonnaroo and decided to come here.
I asked them if anyone had given them a hard time about being there and they told me that they had had one incident with the local "wildlife". Seams a couple of juiced up rednecks in a "big ole 4-wd" came by the other night and threw bottles at them.
That really pissed me off, but doesn't not surprise me one bit. Bonnaroo is cool and Manchester is receptive to Bonnaroo, but 361 other days out of the year this town is redneck heaven!
I told the guys to please not judge Manchester by thise idiots, but by folks like us who appreciate what they represent!
They aren't hurting anyone where they are and they are really cool guys.
I told them about the props they have received and they said thanks!
Hopefully they will be OK for the next three weeks!
This guy deserves a beer from everyone who comes too bonnaroo! Much love man, keep on truckin. I'm bringing puppy chow for the dog and puffy wow for the head.
This guy is now enjoying his 15 minutes. And he's got over two weeks of it left!
I think it's so cool that we ALL want to be that guy, even those of us who KNOW how hot and bored he must be. (Remember June 20, 2002? The first Thursday. And Friday was even worse. I missed damn neary ALL the music Friday afternoon because the heat just did me in.)
Go Kramer! I'm hitting town Wednesday night so maybe I'll get to meet him.
Oh. My. God. If I lived in that area, I would totally do what you and your wife did, and take them a cooler. Mad props. Haha... we should start a collection to buy their way into the show, or at the very least, buy them a case of beer.
His traveling partner was with him and I got his name but for the life of me, I can't remember.
Anthony ;D
I just got home from Barnaroo... I drove Anthony and Kramer out there too... Apparently this party has gone on annually for the last 9 - 10 years, but it's adopted the 'Barnaroo' name in the last two years. Why Barnaroo you ask? Well, the stage it in the loft of a huge barn. I'd never been out there before this evening; it was a nice setup. Drank a few brews and listened to some local music. It's got me pumped for Bonnaroo.
I thought everyone may want an update on Kramer and Anthony.
I went over yesterday and hung out with Kramer for about an hour. (Anthony was over at the site working) I swung by the store and picked them up a bag of ice and a 12-pk of Mil’s Best Ice. I figure one of the hardest things for them is getting ice to keep their stuff cold. Once again, my huge hearted wife couldn’t let me go visit them with just that so she made up some samiches and snacks and stuff.
I also took him a pack of smokes. I think maybe he was most thankful for the smokes! Anyway, I also took a nail with me and we kicked back and burnt that, relaxed and talked for a good hour. This guy has some great stories to tell.
Anyway, it doesn’t look like Kramer is going to get to work, at least during set up. Apparently, when the SSN card fiasco happened, the “boss” of the set up crew and Kramer kinda of didn’t hit off!
When he first went to try to get work, they were signing him and Anthony up, when he was unable to produce a SSN card, they sent him to the local SSN office.
Well, the “local” SSN office is in Tullahoma, which is another town here in Coffee Co, about 15 miles down the road. He walked to that office. Got his substitute SSN sheet that verified his SS#, and brought it back.
That wouldn’t cut it with the “boss” guy. Even though the lady at the SSN office told him he didn’t HAVE to have his actual card, because his # was in fact verified!
Kramer was upset about not getting to work (understandably!) so I guess he got a bit of attitude and kinda just told the guy “whatever”. Well apparently the boss man doesn’t like “whatever”
So he starts yelling at Kramer “DON’T” PHUCKING WHATEVER ME!!” So Kramer is like “Whatever man!”
He said the boss guy got all bent out of shape and told him to get off the property or he would throw him off! (Dick!)
So now he is worried that when the lease begins on June 1 this boss guy is going to come out and try to toss him off the property!
I told him that if this happens, he can set up his tent in my back yard! I have a privacy fence and no one will phuck with him back there!
He is also still in the dilemma of where to get a ticket, I think that I have this problem figured out as well. I am going to try to get him on my guest list. If they question me, I am just going to tell them that he has moved in with me for the time being.
I am also going to swing by this afternoon and see if he can call someone and have them mail him his SSN card. If that is possible, he can have it mailed to my home address. It should only take 4 – 5 days to get here and then he can work (maybe) if the dick boss man will let him.
I asked him if anyone else had given them a hard time and he said only the church folks (wow, what a surprise!!)
If you folks who have been before recall the area, there is a church right smack dab in the middle of the Bonnaroo area. Kramer and Anthony’s camp is set up right beside the church property (off church property) and he said that the church people have given them a hard time pretty much since they have been there. Telling them to stay off the property and that if anyone come to visit them, they can’t park on the church’s drive way. Being really nasty to them in their tone.
(Rant on) I thought churches were supposed to help people, especially those who are most in need! It, however, does not surprise me one bit that the only two types of people here (Manchester) who have given these guys a hard time are the rednecks and the churchies! I ask this, how would Jesus have treated Kramer and Anthony?
Would he have looked down at them and told them to keep their selves and their stuff off his property, or would he have brought them food and water and asked them how he could help them? (Rant off)
Both the guys are surprised at their little bit of fame they have received and are appreciative of everyone’s well wishes. He told me yesterday that if they can, they plan on staying right where they are during the festival. They don’t want to move into the grounds if they don’t have to. So, if they are still there, stop by and say hello!
My wife and I remain worried about them, they still have two and a half weeks until the festival starts and Tennessee has some crazy weather this time of year. I am trying to help them out as much as I can. Hopefully they will be OK!
While Karamer may represent the Spirit of Bonnaroo, I think the reaction in this thread to "Camp Kramer" (I love that!!) Really represents the spirit of Bonnaroo and what a tremendously cool crowd we are. He's got my respect as well.....not the life for me......Live on, Kramer and unamed puppy and Anthony.
Also, I want the name of that church!!! I think they need some letters in their mailbox. They should be ashamed of there selves.
You won't be able to miss it, it is right there on the main road in front of the site!
I will go past there after work today and post the name of the church!
And I agree, they should be ashamed of themselves!
But I say once again, It does not surprise me one bit! Church around think theat if you don't look, act, and beleive EXACTLY the way they, then you are wrong! No questions!
Exalt to you!!!!! I am not advocating any threatening language or foul language for that matter. Just a line or two to, hopefully, snap them into some sense of reality. At the very least cast some guilt. As you can see this is a touchy subject for me.

I have been to that bash several years ago, before Bonnaroo existed.
Was it in that red barn way out? Lord I couldn't even begin to tell you how to get there!
Did you guys have a blast??
It was a bit outside of Mufreesboro, towards Christiana... and it is a bit of a drive.
It wasn't the party to end all parties, but I believe a good time was had by all. If anything, I bet Anthony and Kramer were glad to get out of Manchester for an evening.
