So, after STS9 in 05 and Sasha and Digweed in 07, often a band will play into the morning (I'm thinking Oakenfold this year). I managed to hang (corn included) through STS9 in 05, but it put my next day into a whack as I didn't get enough sleep that night. Any pointers from those who pull the infamous all-nighter?
I've never done it, actually. I don't think I ever will.
It just sounds like a bad idea, to me. You CAN sleep in the heat of the morning... just don't concentrate on it. I've never had a problem going to sleep at Roo...
But, along with that, I've never felt the need to stay up for more than 16 or so hours a day, at Bonnaroo... now, if the music was literally all day long, I could consider it.
I think staying up at Roo is for those that may tweak or be corning to the nth degree .
I'm doomed. I downed several Red Bulls before Pearl Jam's set last year and still fell asleep in the backfield. WEAK. I did manage to stay up until 5:30 for MMJ, though.
Sadly, I've seen sunrise the last 6 Fridays and Saturdays of Bonnaroo. It's quite pathetic, I know. The key is to not start drinking before 11 am. By Sunday, I am in so much pain that I just have to leave.
06 I stayed up all sat and sunday I was fine and raged as hard as anyone but I slept pretty much the whole ride home. I really don't need much sleep at times like that though, actually I kinda do that a lot I will go whole weeks maybe only sleeping 2 hours a night and be fine, then one day when I have the time just crash for a day.
What I think the best thing to do though is bring some ambien or xaninx to make yourself pass out and sleep through the heat
I think most people would actually, if u pop one right when the late night ends you'll get a good nights sleep and wake up in time for the next days shows.

Ambien makes people in my family get really weird, for real -- people with my genetics can't take it. It would make me take my clothes off, or at Roo, put them on.

If it's really that hard to sleep just get some sleeping pills... I plan on staying up to see the sunrise at least once this year, i'm just afraid that once the sun is up, i won't be able to sleep
6-9 is pretty premium sleep time, after that I just get under the canopy and nap when I can in the shade until the shows start. I run fine on 4 or 5 hours of sleep a day though. Also last year I slept through the headliners every night. Not gonna be able to do that this year but I think I have a pretty good sleeping arrangement sorted so I should be ok.

Iv seen the sun come up before I left Centeroo each year I have been. Usually thats when you realize the time and decide to make your way back to camp. Even then you still get a few hours of sleep, when you wake up 4 hours later, something to eat and some nice wares and your good to go usually.
There are people that will tell you these answers for a fee. Don't look for them, they will find you. You'll know when they whisper in your ear in passing
Tips for after the all nighter: When you get to camp drink a bunch of water, take some vitamins, make sure the sun blocking tarps are in place, turn on the battery operated fan, and try to get 2-4 hours of sleep. Then when you wake up: Hit the porto's, drink a bunch more water, eat something, adjust the sun blocking tarps, and try to get 2-4 more hours of sleep. If it's too hot already then shuffle around roo with that been up all night look, drink water, and try to catch a half hour here or there under a tree in centeroo. Do this a few times and not only will you have a good 4+ hours of sleep in, but it'll already be dusk, and your vampire eyes will start to adjust again....
LOL. I fell asleep during Pearl Jam's encore, so I can offer no assistance.
Do those five-hour energy drinks work? Or will I just be jittery and tired?
They actually work pretty well, less caffeine than a Red Bull.
I'm a fan of these. I have a stash at work and in my car to pop if needed. I like the decaf ones (oxymoron) makes you alot less jittery. The only problem is the price.

NO!! This is really dangerous advice. If you're boozing it up all day, and ingesting who knows what else, and if you haven't been to a doctor who prescribed these medications, then please, please, please DO NOT take sleeping pills. Definitely not xanax or ambien, but I wouldn't even take over the counter stuff with all the other chemicals that may be in your body. I lost 2 friends last year who didn't necessarily OD, but they were mixing things up and they passed out, and then their hearts stopped. Please don't be stupid and mix things together at roo!!!
Or anywhere else for that matter. Also, if you must have a sleep aid, use something natural, like melatonin. Much less risky.

I get myself progressively acclimated to sleep deprivation leading up to Bonnaroo. I generally can't fall back to sleep after about 9 a.m. due to the temperature inside of the tent. Sometimes I will take a power nap sometime between ten a.m. and noon... often in the grass somewhere in Centeroo. I take a black t-shirt to drape over my eyes. The power naps generally help quite a bit. I also take some moments to do meditation or yoga during the day to recharge my batteries. Last year, Sobe was a savior as they had samples of their energy drinks which helped give me boosts (although my friend made himself sick drinking too many energy drinks). Too bad you fell asleep during the Pearl Jam encore as their version of "All Along The Watchtower" was easily one of my favorite moments at Bonnaroo 2008. We stayed up for most of the late acts last year, except for Kanye... but Kanye West was not appealing to me (even before his debacle at Bonnaroo 2008).

last year, my bf and i were lying in the grass near the What stage waiting for Kanye for like an hour and some change, and then we just sort of looked at each other and said "screw it, let's go sleep." best decision i ever made. i'm gonna try to stay up all night Saturday this year, though.
for me, its not the sleeping part that can be hard, its staying awake! i can conk out at the drop of a hat. ive been wary about the 5 hour energy shots, but i think i'll have to give em a try this year.

This is pretty much how I've survived my 3 trips to the farm. Water and a good shade tree at Centeroo are the keys to keeping your batteries charged. I wouldn't use any pharmaceutical's to catch a few winks. It's not worth the risk...

I think im going to sleep a little after girl talk ... when the sun is hitting hard?? 7am? when the sun is beating the shit out of me while im sleepin is time to wake up.
