Thats right Kanye didnt show up. The show was originally changed to 2:45, when we got there the big screen said changed to 3:15. Then at 3:15 we litterally saw the big screen change to 3:30. Finally at 4:10, while the big screen said Kanye West up next, we finally decided to leave. Here it is 500am and I am just getting home and yes, Kanye stood up Bonnaroo....

No he didn't...he went on stage at 4:25am. 1h45m late. Kind of a Summers breeze in a sack move, considering other tents suffered attendance since people were waiting for him to go on. Ghostland Observatory was pretty empty for the first bit of the set (and it was awesome)...shame. And now nobody can sleep because Kanye has the volume turned up to 11 (it's 5:15am). Not to mention his set is the cheesiest thing I've seen in my life...I was expecting more.

I fully expect Superfly to apologize to Bonnaroo ticket purchasers for whatever it was that happened this morning with Kanye West.
I for one was not expecting to stay much past 3:30 this morning. I'm dosing off right now after having been awake for 37 straight hours working a shift at my orginal job on Friday night and then being called in early to work a doubleshift for the catering company contracted by 'Roo.

I am going to be suffering from the Kanye wake up call. goodness knows how many zombies will be walking around due to the loss of the few hours of sleep one could have. was it actually Kanye when all was said and done. Sounded like a soundtrack playing. They probably got some poor Kanye fan from the kareoke bar and had him do the performance.

So wait, there were loud noises in the wee hours of a music festival that kept you from sleeping? Heavens to mergatroid!
Complaining about Kanye being way late is one thing - that sucks for those who wanted to see him, or skipped other stuff to do so. But complaining that he's loud and you can't sleep? The past three years my tent was always within earshot of whatever DJ was spinning late night - it comes with the territory. When I'm trying to sleep, I ALWAYS hear idiots playing music, keeping the party going all night. It's the way it is at these things.

I really doubt it was HIS fault. I think they really underestimated how long it would take to set up his show.
I had a good time. The booing and the sun coming up halfway through his "glow in the dark" show was hilarious. That must sting. The show was pretty cheesy and a definite B+

id be really surprised if this was the reason why. i mean, wouldnt kanyes roadies be there to set up/shouldnt they have known how long it would have taken? who knows whose fault it was but its not a good thing for his standings in bonnaroo-ers eyes that he was this late...seeing that there was already so much....dislike of him being there in the first place

Personally I think Kanye refused to be playing at the same time as anybody else. That's why his set time was switched, and it sounds like he went on shortly after Phil Lesh stopped rockin everybodys heads.... effin' tard of a move in my book.

There has never been loud noises late at night coming from the main stage. I think that's a bit louder than late night acts coming from the other tent or any drum circles wandering through the campsites and on shakedown. Plus... it's kanye. I'd rather hear a drum circle at 5 am

Has anyone seen any actual reviews of the show? All I've read is that the crowd was booing while waiting for him to come on, then there's no mention of the show. I'm curious to see what he did to try and make up for being so late... or if it was just and overall blah night for him

"At around 5:30 a.m., when Kanye West bellowed “is this what you’ve been waiting for?” as part of the chorus to “Stronger,” the response from his dwindling Bonnaroo audience seemed to be a resounding “sort of.”
Last week, it was announced that he’d been bumped to the What Stage for a 2:45 a.m. set so that he could put on his famed “Glow in the Dark Tour” production, which includes a sloping dune-like stage, light-up platforms and a video wall. The elaborate stage setup delayed his performance for nearly two hours – inviting regular waves of boos and airborne glow sticks. West appeared onstage at 4:30 a.m. to the amusingly appropriate “Good Morning” just minutes before sunrise.
The highly theatrical production depicts West as a space traveler whose ship crash-lands on a deserted planet. It’s a one-man show in which he converses solely with his ship’s computer, and West’s refusal to break character meant he didn’t address the crowd once – no “How you feeling, Bonnaroo?” or “Thanks for staying up.” Nothing.
That approach could have made for the surrealist rave of the year had the show started on time, but once the sun shed light on West’s set pieces, and exhausted audience, and a very real world of trees and mud surrounding them, it couldn’t help but feel cold, detached, and just a little bitter.
Despite a contextual disaster, West dutifully put every ounce of his celebrated gusto into his performance, whether shouting a line at the top of his lungs, whirling around the stage or singing (quite well) one of his recognizable hooks.
The show reminds you that he’s got dozens of those at this point. Songs like “Jesus Walks,” “Gold Digger,” “The Good Life,” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” “Heard ‘Em Say,” – all distinct and timeless in a way that much of modern mainstream rap is not. It also reminds you just how much West has elevated rap artistically and of the fact that he’s managed to turn it into full-blooded pop – something many of the music’s naysayers said could never be done. All of this should have meant that West would knock it out of the park at Bonnaroo. It’s a little tragic that he wasn’t able to.

LMAO. Pretty much sums it up right there.
I gotta say I'm not surprised by any of this - we've seen in the past that Kanye's got a bit of an ego, and I think this is just more of that. I definitely think this was deliberate, either he didn't want to compete with other shows or he just wanted to do the "fashionably late" concert thing that so many rap/hiphop shows seem to do.
I must admit I'm maybe a teeny bit glad this happened...just because it will hopefully provide a good lesson for Superfly/whoever. If you schedule an act that doesn't seem like typical Roo material but they just come and rock out and put on a great show, then the roosters will be happy with it - like Tool last year and maybe Metallica this year (I haven't heard too much but everything I've heard about their show has been very positive). But if you schedule someone who doesn't seem to respect the audience at all and acts like they would really rather if none of us went to the show...well, then we won't.
