"A trip to space thwarted by a speckled lad's demise. A watershed moment otherwise."
1. "A trip to space..." ~ 'foo fighter' was a term used by WWII pilots to describe UFO's or other unidentified flying objects. 2. "...thwarted by a speckled lad's demise." ~ could refer to Kurt Cobain. 3. "A watershed moment otherwise." ~ the Foo Fighters' self-titled album has a song called 'Wattershed'; a 'watershed moment' implies a transition, which could refer to Dave Grohl's progression from the role of drummer to frontman.
Thus, Foo Fighters are a good match to the first clue. I'm not a huge fan, but it seems logical. Yes, they are playing Europe several times during the weekend but they are not playing on the 10th (Friday)...a stretch, but so was Jay-Z, and the Foo's seem to be pretty versatile so conceivably they could pull it off. They are bigger than Kings of Leon...and it could be worse (if this is indeed true). It's a possibility, speculation if you will, so take it for what it's worth.
still think they wont be flying back, but good reasoning i suppose!

Not that I have much expierance in the past. But it seems to me the clues just finely got commercialized. Katieontheair is just a pawn in there game with no control.
ok my husband wants pearl jam badly..... here's his take. andy wood was the singer for motherlovebone died opened a spot for EV. According to my husband, the creation of Pearl Jam is a watershed moment for music. : )
He's just mad because he was too lost in the ways of the world to go to Bonnaroo in 08, with me.... ; )

If you are going to add your input please read what has already been written. . . The Foo Fighters are playing a Festival in Europe the same weekend of Bonnaroo. . . They will NOT be there. This has been stated numerous times.

That is all
I did indeed read what had been written on here, and then some. They are, in fact, playing at least two European festivals that weekend; they have Friday off though. Jay-Z played 'Roo the day after playing Isle of Wight last year and the Foo's have less people on stage...I agree, it's not likely, but I wouldn't write them off just yet if I were you
Lets hope that they arent wasting clues on a meaningless band like STS-9 or Apollo Sunshine. Im not really a U2 fan but after reading the reasoning behind them being the answer, they are obviously the most logical choice at this point, unfortunately.

He says... "I'm a space bound rocketship and your hearts the moon... and i'm aiming right at you."
Then... "And I would've did anything for you to show you how much that I adored you. But it's over now, it's too late to save our love."
A trip to space thwarted by a speckled lad's demise. A watershed moment otherwise.
(rocketship is trip to space) (speckled lad's demise could be "the man in the moon".. which in this case is the woman in the song and he ends up wanting to kill himself or her which is the demise) (The album recovery is in itself a watershed moment for him personally and as an artist)
I get how his kid getting measles thwarted his trip to space, I'm just not sure how this is a watershed moment for him otherwise.
It's not a water shed moment for HIM. It is for Apollo sunshine, and playing the first Bonnaroo.
EDIT: I'm just basing this purely off Apollo 13 movie knowledge and not actually historical info, but Ken Mattingly played a very large part in helping the crew return home safely. Maybe that's his watershed moment.

Wait allmans are playing wanee?! When did this get confirmed? I was hoping but it was all speculation. I mean they started the fest and play two nights every year that's it's been in existence but I didn't really think they were gonna play again.
I deserved that...been a little slow today if youknowhatImean
I was joking and after I posted that I was like dang that didn't sound joking at all. So I sounded like a jerk and took it down. But I'm stoked you figured the clue out. And I'm stoked for Greg

They've played Bonnaroo before, though. (2007)
The clue talks about a thwarted trip. His trip was thwarted but the mission went on as planned so the clue would indicated that it was about what happened to him. (If the clue is about him.)
A trip to space thwarted by a speckled lad's demise. A watershed moment otherwise.
Maybe the clue just is meant to indicate Apollo and that's it?
This bad thing happened (Mattingly's cancelled trip) but everything else worked out pretty historically.
Maybe we are supposed to move from Apollo to Wikipedia where we learn that he was the leader of the Muses?
I know it's not a new theory but I can at least finally see it.
I was thinking that Apollo is the connection you have to make to Bonnaroo. Which is why I chose Apollo Sunshine, because i was told they played the first Bonnaroo in 2002. In which case if you look at it from the standpoint
Apollo = A Space trip thwarted by a speckled lad's demise. (Ken Mattingly's APOLLO 13)
Apollo = A watershed moment otherwise (Apollo Sunshine @ 1st Bonnaroo)
