Living in nashville, today i heard on a country station that DMB will be playing CMT Music Fest which happens to be the same weekend as the Roo. It makes sence that Dave would jolt on down the interstate to play the farm again. Much like Zach brown band did last year. Thought that was something to think about.

Interesting. You may be right. It's possible but I don't know if Roo would want a headliner playing a different music fest. Zac Brown Band, sure......but we'll see what happens with DMB
A quick check for hotel rooms leads me to believe your right. The city seems booked that weekend unless you feel like paying $340 a night for a Motel 8.

I'm not traditionally a DMB fan, but I worked at one of their concerts a few months back, and the atmosphere and vibe at the concert was the closest I've ever felt to that of Bonnaroo. I still wouldn't consider myself a real fan, but they put on a hell of a show, and I have mad respek for them now. I wouldn't mind one bit if they took the sunday night headliner spot. CMT and Bonnaroo have hugely different audiences. I highly doubt it would matter if they played both fests

Hmm, well, I heard that DMB was playing the CMA Awards show on Nov. 11.... perhaps that's what you mean instead of the CMT fest? Seems a bit far out for them to release names for the fest next June.
I dont understand how one cant enjoy a DMB show, especialy if your a festie, cause seriously, they put on a good show. And i dont want to hear the same old reasons talking about drunk frat boys, because you cannot go to any show without this element. Maybe its cool to say no to DMB, but i think you should say YES! Or at least a Eh, or OK.

You know, for awhile I think it was cool to say 'I hate Dave Matthews Band" yadda yadda....I am a fan, always have a good time, enjoy the music and I'm not embarassed to say it.

It's not that I hate the music. It's more wanting the spot that Dave has earned through years of touring and popularity go to someone I would really want to see like Neil Young.
DMB just seems like a stock choice, that's all. I would enjoy the show but would prefer Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, Neil Young, Phish, Mark Knopffler, Steely Dan, MMJ, David Byrne, Wilco, Santana, Ben Harper and Innocent Criminals, Robert Plant and Allison Krauss, Primus, Flaming Lips, even SCI and Furthur.

Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

I understand depression...i totally agree that I would pick Neil Young as a headliner over dmb in a heartbeat. But that's if that was a choice.
I guess what i'm saying is dave matthews band as a headliner would not be a bad thing in itself minus the "who we could've had instead" argument.
I feel the same way about the idea of Rolling Stones. I'm not a huge fan, but i understand they draw crowds and can sell tickets. If they are booked, they'll be taking the prime spot for #1 headliner. I will still be at the show singing paint it black as loud as possible.

Of those, I think dmb can be paralled to clapton/beck, neil young, MMJ, Flips, SCI and further in terms of possible headliners for Sunday. I think MMJ and Flips fall into there own weird category of late night/ special stage. So I would choo choo choose clapton/beck, young ahead of dmb ..
The others are not headliners in the roo classic sense, so they could still be there somewhere i think.

Personally, any form of Dave at Roo would make it perfect for me. You can hate on them all you want, but they are talented and put on an amazing show every time.
Meh. In all honesty I wouldn't mind. I've only seen him once but had a great time of what I remember (got stupid drunk). And what I've heard of the new record I like. It'd be kind like Bruce Springsteen fer me; I'd see 'em but wouldn't be staying the whole show or nappin' during some of it.
well yeah...If it came down to it would I still go and watch...yeah. Because I still want to have an awesome time. I would just prefer someone else. But good point...we did have Bruce! haha.
Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails, The Mars Volta, Snoop Dogg, TV on the Radio, MGMT, The Knux, Crystal Castle, Julia Nunes, Tobacco, Portugal. The Man, Gomez, Animal Collective, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Santigold, David Byrne, Public Enemy, Girl Talk, Bon Iver, Gov't Mule, Citizens Cope, Andrew Bird, Coheed & Cambria & Phish.
There were a lot of haters going into their headlining slot and not a whole lot afterwards. They brought it for Roo, busted out a couple of covers (Watchtower and Time of the Season), some special guests (Warren Haynes and Robert Randolph), and filled their time slot -- what more can you ask for from a headliner?
I'd love to see them as a closer -- those that don't like them have their excused to leave early and the rest of us can still enjoy a jammy closer.
