Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
UPDATE: Version 1.1! This will probably be the last before 'roo unless there is a major correction needed. Here's the pdf and the ods.
UPDATE: Version 1.0! Here's the pdf and the ods(open document spreadsheet). Mad props goes to buckeyerooer who put together the base schedule in spreadsheet form and allowed me to mess with it. If there is any major correction (i.e. a completely wrong genre or a suggestion for an act that is just listed as "?") that needs to be made, let me know and I'll make it. The schedule is covered under a Creative Commons by-nc-sa license so spread it around or rework it if you wish.
I'm going to put together an annotated 'roo schedule like I did last year and post it for whoever wants it. It's essentially the regular schedule but includes a brief (1-3 word) overview of the music genre of each band. I've put together a draft summary of the bands but I could use your help. If I wasn't familiar with the music personally, I came up with the genres from a cursory search so there are certain to be inaccuracies. Look over my list, if I've made a mistake or could be more precise, let me know. I'm limiting each description to just a few words, so if I classified your fav band as "metal" and you think it should have been "Swedish neo death metal with punk psychedelic influences and a reggae beat", you might be out of luck. On the other hand if I said "reggae" but it could be refined as "dancehall", let me know. If I gave a genre with a "?" I wasn't sure, just a "?" means I hadn't a clue. In a couple of days I'll post a pdf of the whole schedule. -- Dave Matthews Band - jam band Kings of Leon - rock Stevie Wonder - R&B/funk Jay-Z - hip-hop Tenacious D - rock Weezer - alt rock The Flaming Lips - psychedelic rock? Mayer Hawthorne is a soul singer. The Constellations are a rock band with hip-hop and soul tendencies.
Also, I'd call LCD dance-punk. They play live instruments at their show, so calling it Electronic/DJ will give people the wrong idea. And take jazz off of Los Amigos Invisibles, just Latin funk.
It's a heroic attempt to classify all these bands, but it it shows how weak genre categorizations are in the modern age.
this is very helpful. thanks for doing this and I will bookmark this to check in for annotations. THere is no way I can listen to each and every band before roo. coco crunchie + 1 for you, and by the way cute kids!
john fogerty solo is more country than blues, of course he plays a lot of ccr stuff which is just rock if you're just going to call the melvins rock, be sure to let people know it's going to be very noisy bakerton group instrumental rock/jam/blues

Thats what I wanted, with the time I'm putting into this I'd rather get it as accurate as possible.
With any luck I can get the first draft of the schedule out Tues eve (maybe). I'll update it after that as needed as people make suggestions/corrections.

I don't check Inforoo as often as I used to. That said, this is probably the most valuable post to me, difficulty in categorizing and all. So many new bands to check out; so little time beforehand and during Roo itself. What a lovely problem to have.
