lad usually means young boy doesn't it? that a strange thing we should focus on and demise means death or termination. so does it have to do with the death of a young boy?
Someone waaaay back mentioned Discovery; it's the name of a space shuttle and it can also be a critical moment. But the only band I can find with the name Discovery is back in 2005... doesn't look like they are together anymore.

So maybe a musician or band with two (or more) personas?
daft punk? or third twin or whatever CoS reported them to be playing as...?
If we're going on this tangent, Daft Punk's Thomas and Guy were originally in a band called "Darlin' " with Laurent Brancowitz (who is now in Phoenix). Their band ended after their Demo tape was heard by a critic from melody maker who called it "a bunch of Daft Punk" (subsequently giving Thomas and Guy the name).
So, they were thwarted at one point, which in turn was a watershed moment in their career.

Anyone have ideas along those lines?
There is an artist called Discovery that features a member of Vampire Weekend and a member of Ra Ra Riot. I doubt that it's them, though.
Elton was a friend of Ryan White, a young man that died of AIDS. He dedicated a song to him as well. This stuff is from wikipedia:
Rock-oriented Rock of the Westies entered the US albums chart at number 1 like Captain Fantastic, a previously unattained feat. Elton John's stage wardrobe now included ostrich feathers, $5,000 spectacles that spelled his name in lights, and dressing up like the Statue of Liberty, Donald Duck, or Mozart among others at his concerts.
Pete Townshend of The Who asked John to play a character called the "Local Lad" in the film of the rock opera Tommy, and to perform a song named "Pinball Wizard".

^^I personally still think that's a bit of a stretch.
FWIW, Opeth has an album called "Watershed" and their band name comes from a novel in which Opet translates to "City of the Moon." However, there is a huge piece of the puzzle missing, so I don't think they're it.
Didn't think of Ghostface, there's a possibility with his new album referring to Apollo.
they played discovery on roo radio earlier. not that means anything. i don't know if she is going to tell us when to move on from a clue if it has been solved like djjd did, but i sure hope so. if not, people will just never stop.

Well Discovery is the name of a Daft Punk album. I don't really think this clue is about them, though.

I was rummaging around these two words earlier but I had fuck-all for luck

If we're going with Elton, I would say we should use the second definition of speckled. He's known for projecting different personalities while on stage....
Ugh, I just can't make Elton fit with the whole clue though....

There's also the fact that Elton John... doesn't really fit the Bonnaroo vibe (imo)
Also, he just had a kid with his partner, like, within the last month. I can't imagine he'll be touring too much with an infant at home.
